Chapter 190
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
âI will listen to you, so will you like me?â he asked. A hint of hesitation could not help but appear in her heart.
She thought, âIf⦠If he is not Jonathan, maybe⦠I might really like him.
However, he is Jonathan. In the past three years in prison, he was like a nightmare for me. His presence induced fear from the bottom of my heart!â
Rosalie only felt that even she herself was confused about her relationship with Jonathan. She clearly was afraid of him, but sometimes she couldnât help feeling sorry for him.
And when he looked at her intently and said something that made her heart race, she felt lost again.
âDoes he really think of me as a game target? Or is he serious? And what about me? Am I falling for him?â
But for now, Rosalie could take things one step at a time. She wanted to leave but found that she had sunk deeper and deeper into this relationship as if she were trapped in a swamp.
After delivering the takeaway, Rosalie returned to the diner. She was stunned for a moment because there was a person sitting in the restaurant. It was someone who should not have appeared at such a small restaurant-Calvin.
He was dressed in a tailor-made suit, with a dignified distant expression on his handsome face. Such men could appear at luxurious banquets, in restaurants for the petty bourgeoisie, or at the comfortable balcony of a presidential suite, but it was definitely not at such a small and cheap diner.
Rosalie didnât see Amelia. Instead, Matilda was on the other side of the cashier counter.
At that moment, Calvin saw Rosalie. He stood up and walked to her. âI didnât expect you to really work in this shop.â
âHow did you know?â She was confused.
âYesterday I saw you riding an electric scooter on the road, and there is the word âAidenâs Dinerâ on the delivery box behind your scooter. When I passed by here today, I happened to see this diner, so I came in.â Calvinâs indifferent face showed a trace of tenderness that he himself didnât even realize.
âRosalie, there are three orders left here. Go and deliver them,â Matilda shouted at Rosalie.
âOkay.â Rosalie walked to the cashier and picked up the packaged takeouts on the table.
Matilda took the opportunity to ask Rosalie in a low voice, âIs this man your friend?â
Rosalie shook her head and replied, âJust an acquaintance.â She could not even come close to being a friend of a scion like Calvin.
However, she still felt a little strange. Even if Calvin saw the words on her delivery box and then saw this diner, he didnât have to come in specially for a meal.
âCould it be⦠that he waiting for me here?â This thought fleeted across Rosalieâs mind and was then immediately dismissed by her.
Just as she was about to leave the diner, Calvin suddenly asked, âAre you going to deliver takeout?â
âYes, my job here is mainly to deliver food,â Rosalie replied.
âDid Jonathan let you do such a job?â
âI donât think there is anything wrong with such a job.â Rosalie continued indifferently, âI think itâs good for me to make money on my own.â
Then she walked to the electric scooter parked outside the diner and put the takeouts on it.
âWait.â He stepped forward and grabbed her. âAre you angry? I didnât mean to belittle your current job.â
She glanced at him strangely. âIâm not angry.â If she was angry with such a small matter, she would have been driven to madness.
âIf you need it, I can give you a job,â Calvin said.
âMr. Gunner, we donât seem to be that familiar with each other. You donât need to help me change my job or anything. I am very satisfied with my current job.â Rosalie glanced at his hand and said, âCan you let go of me? Iâm in a hurry to deliver the takeouts.â
His dark eyes fixed on her. After a while, he finally let go of her hand. Were they not that familiar with each other? But he knew her better than she thought. He knew something about her past from Loretta-
her past from childhood to adulthood.
âSatisfied with your current job?â He suddenly chuckled. âWill a former lawyer be satisfied with just being a takeaway delivery person now?â
Rosalieâs eyes flashed with dejection. âIt feels like me being a lawyer⦠is something that will never happen.â
As she got on the electric scooter, she heard Calvinâs voice again. âIt seems that there is something different than I thought between you and Jonathan. If one day you can no longer stay with Jonathan, you can come to me at any time.â
She stiffened slightly and drove away with the electric scooter.
She thought, âEven if one day I left Jonathan, I wonât go to this scion of the entertainment industry.
A man like him might be more ruthless than Jonathan. Itâs not like I have never seen how he treated his ex-girlfriend. He spoiled his girlfriend before, but once she broke up with him, he was terribly aloof.â
Calvin had numerous ex-girlfriends too.
As for Loretta, who was his current girlfriend, Rosalie saw that the newspapers and magazines had reported on Lorettaâs recent updates. It seemed that she had got some good resources. Some media even predicted that Calvin would help Loretta win a best actress award.
She thought, âI am not interested in Lorettaâs future relationship with Calvin, and I just donât want to be involved in it anymore.
If I can, I just want to live a peaceful and calm life. This might be my greatest wish right now.â
At that moment, Calvin watched Rosalie gradually disappear from his sight. Then he slowly loosened his grip and looked at his palm. When he was about to release his hand just now, he felt a little reluctant to let go.
Moreover, when he dashed out of the diner, he was concerned whether she was angry or not.
âItâs just a woman. I cared about her because she looked like the little girl in my memory.â
Calvinâs eyes gradually returned to the usual expression- indifference and aloofness. He walked into the diner and checked out, Pretending to be casual, he asked Matilda at the checkout desk, âWhere was the cashier here when I came in?â
âS-She went to the kitchen,â Matilda stammered.
Calvin didnât say anything more. Before leaving, he looked in the direction of the kitchen thoughtfully.
After Calvin left, Matilda walked to the back kitchen and looked at his daughter. âHeâs gone.â
Amelia didnât feel relieved. Instead, she asked, âDid he say anything when he left?
