Chapter 191
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
âHe asked me where you were. I told him that you were busy in the kitchen, so he took a glance at it.â
Matilda was puzzled as she asked, âWho is that man? Do you know him?â
After all, her daughter avoided him as soon as she saw the man.
Amelia showed a complicated look on her face. âThat man is Calvin, the scion of the entertainment industry! When I was⦠Iâve seen Calvin several times when I was with that person.â
âThen will Calvin recognize you?â Matilda asked nervously.
Amelia sighed. âIâm afraid⦠he already did.â Although Ameliaâs appearance was different from before, if Calvin didnât recognize her, he wouldnât ask such a superfluous question when he was about to leave.
Matildaâs face immediately turned grim. âT-Then what should I do? Will he tell that person about you?
That man seems to know Rosalie. Why donât⦠we ask for Rosalieâs help to talk to him?â
Amelia bit her lips slightly. She was still confused up until that moment. Originally, she thought Calvin had accidentally entered this shop, but now it seemed that Calvin was obviously waiting for Rosalie.
However, there was such a big difference between Calvin and a takeaway worker who worked in her small diner.
When Rosalie came back, Amelia asked, âRosalie, do you know Calvin?â
âMs. Haab, you know Calvin?â Rosalie was stunned.
Amelia smiled reluctantly. âThere are always scandals about Mr. Gunner. He had several girlfriends who were actresses in the entertainment industry. There are also photos of him on the internet.â
âWe are sort of acquainted with each other. Iâve seen him several times,â Rosalie said.
âThen he and youâ¦â
âThereâs nothing going on between us,â Rosalie replied. Rosalie then looked at Amelia, who was still a little dumbfounded, and said, âMs. Haab, if there is nothing else, Iâll go and deliver the takeout.â
âAll right.â Amelia pursed her lips. âIt seems that I still need to find Calvin myself.â
Carlos was surprised to see Jonathan drinking herbal medicine. In the past, Jonathan didnât even bother to take the usual medicine. And yet, he was drinking herbal medicine now.
Carlos thought Jonathanâs sudden change was probably related to Rosalie.
After all, Jonathan would always set a precedent for Rosalie.
After finishing the herbal medicine, Jonathan frowned slightly. He then drank a sip of water to clear the aftertaste of herbal medicine in his mouth.
Although he never liked taking medicine, if Rosalie wanted him to take care of himself, then he would be willing to listen to her.
âDo you know how to make a woman like you?â Jonathan asked unexpectedly.
Carlos was dumbfounded. âThat is⦠Mr. Youngbloodâs question? How to make a woman like him?
But⦠if itâs Mr. Youngblood, he probably wonât have to do anything at all. He would already have a bunch of women swarming at him.â Carlos pondered for a while and then asked cautiously, âMr.
Youngblood, do you mean⦠Ms. Leighton?â
Jonathan cast Carlos a faint glance, but he didnât deny it.
âDoes that mean⦠Mr. Youngblood wants Ms. Leighton to like him?â Carlos had it figured out, but he still couldnât help but feel surprised. âSince when did Mr. Youngblood care about whether a woman liked him or not?â
âMs. Leighton used to⦠endure a lot of hardships. Iâm afraid that she sees many things more clearly than ordinary people. Furthermore, for people like her, if someone tries to force her to build a relationship with them, she will probably act obedient on the surface, but purposely distance herself from that person in her heart.â Carlos continued his analysis, saying, âIn my opinion, Ms. Leighton is someone who is weak to kindness but hardheaded in the face of harshness. It is better to humble oneself in front of her so that itâs easier to let her put down her guard.â
âThen, I should be pleasing her so that she will like me?â Jonathan murmured.
Carlos blinked his eyes as a sense of fright washed over him. He thought, âI-I was just suggesting Mr.
Youngblood put on a humble stance. I did not say anything about asking him to please her.
Well⦠If Mr. Youngblood wants to please a woman, then what kind of woman is sheâ¦
âBut what should I do that will considered an action to please her?â Jonathan asked.
Carlos choked. âBased on Mr. Youngbloodâs tone, i-is he really going to please Rosalie?â
At that moment, Carlosâ phone suddenly rang. After seeing the caller ID, Carlos immediately answered the phone/A moment later, after ending the call, Carlos said to Jonathan, âMr. Youngblood, someone is investigating Ms. Melanie Hamiltonâs old case.â
Jonathanâs eyes suddenly darkened. âWho is investigating the case?â
âWe havenât found out yet. We only know that there are different groups of people who are collecting that yearâs information or are searching for the whereabouts of those witnesses. And now, one of the witnesses in Sloummont is being closely followed,â Carlos replied.
âIs that the witness with the surname Concord?â Jonathan asked as he frowned slightly.
âYes, but now the person investigating him is no longer the private detective Lillian initially hired,â
Carlos answered.
When Lillian first approached the private detective to look into that witness, Carlos had already known about it.
Everything was fine initially. The evidence Lillian had found was given to her by him, but now there were other forces suddenly investigating the case. That came as a surprise for Carlos, especially since they hadnât found out who was behind the scenes investigating the old case.
Jonathan gently lowered his eyes. Bending his fingers, he knocked on the table with his index finger as if he were thinking about something. A moment later, Jonathan said coldly, âCallum White.â
âWhat?â Carlos was stunned.
âGo and investigate Callum. The person who is investigating this case might be Callum.â
âCallum? Callum White from the White Maple Group?â Carlos didnât know how Jonathan associated Callum with the matter.
âYes, thatâs him,â Jonathan replied. He thought, âIf thereâs anyone who has the ability to escape Carlosâ
investigation, Callum would be one of them.
If Callum is truly investigating the case, it might be because of Lillian.â
Jonathan rubbed his forehead. âLillian⦠I had underestimated her. If Callum really finds out something one day, it might be inevitable for me to go against Callum.â
Lillian looked at Callum, who was sitting next to her, helplessly. âYou⦠Are you really going to meet my parents?â
âDidnât you say your parents wanted to see me?â Callum asked lazily.
