Chapter 247
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
A trace of embarrassment flashed across Fionaâs face, as Jonathanâs words were like a slap in her face.
Upon seeing this, Sarah was obviously dissatisfied and complained to Rosalie, âHey, Rosalie. Fiona just said that out of kindness. Why is your boyfriend so full of himself? Even if heâs our guest, are you telling us to treat him like some important people?â
Rosalie just replied faintly, âMy boyfriend is afraid of strangers, so heâll keep some distance from unfamiliar people.â
Sarah and Fiona almost choked on their saliva.
They thought, âAfraid of strangers? This man doesnât look like heâs afraid of strangers.â
However, when the manâs eyes glanced at them lazily, they could not help but have their hearts pounding like drums as if they were unconsciously intimidated by his gaze.
Sarah pursed her lips and did not say anything more. On the other hand, Fiona took an indirect approach shamelessly, asking Rosalie when she met Jonathan and how they got together, even going as far as to inquire about Jonathanâs identity by asking about his occupation and family background.
All the questions were vaguely averted by Rosalie.
As a result, Fiona found that she did not seem to gather any substantial information after questioning for a long time. However, given Jonathanâs presence in front of her, she could not lose her temper and had no choice but to force a smile while asking Rosalie, âSo, what kind of work are you doing now?â
âIâm a delivery rider of a diner,â Rosalie replied generously, not feeling inferior for her career.
However, to Fionaâs ears, the words sounded like Rosalie had hit rock bottom. Thinking back, Rosalie was originally a lawyer, a profession envied by everyone. But now, she was working as a delivery rider, which was not much different from her previous job as a sanitary worker.
âThen, your boyfriend⦠Uh, didnât Mr. Thompson help you search for another job?â Fiona asked, glancing at Jonathan, who was sitting beside Rosalie and playing with his girlfriendâs fingers.
Jonathanâs fingers were well-defined and tanned. He had a pair of naturally attractive hands. At this moment, his fingers gently touched Rosalieâs fingers from time to time, rubbing and pinching them. The gestures appeared gentle and intimate, which made Fiona almost wish that the hand he was holding was her own.
âI quite like my current job,â Rosalie replied. After all, Amelia and the other employees in the diner treated her well. What surprised her was that she could meet Aiden.
Aiden was quite nice to her. Whenever he saw Rosalic, he would smile at her and even hug her, showing very close behavior.
Due to Aidenâs ear problem, Rosalie felt even more sympathetic toward Aiden and wanted to take good care of the child.
Rosalie really adored her current working environment. At least in the diner, no one would disdain and discriminate against her just because she had been in prison.
Yet, when Fiona heard Rosalieâs answer, she felt that the man named Jon might also not be capable of having a decent job. Otherwise, no boyfriend would let his girlfriend do deliveries.
Perhaps Jon was just having a good-looking face only.
Just then, Wilma woke up. Rosalie hurried to her grandmotherâs room.
Sarah helped Wilma to sit up from the bed. After noticing Rosalie, Wilma had a smile formed on her face. âI see you have come. Come closer to me. Let me have a look at you, Rosie.â
Rosalieâs eyes turned red with tears. She approached the bedside and looked at the elder before her, wanting to say something, but she could not do so, as she felt like crying at the moment.
Wilma raised her hand and caressed Rosalieâs head. âMy child, you look like youâre going to cry. Whatâs wrong? Did someone bully you?â
âMom, what are you talking about? Rosalie brought her boyfriend here today. We wouldnât dare to do such a thing to her. We even have to give our respect by calling her boyfriend Mr. Thompson.â Sarah took the chance to be sarcastic.
Wilma turned surprised. âBoyfriend? Rosalie has a boyfriend! Quick! Let me meet him!â
âIâll call him to come in then.â While speaking, Rosalie stood up and walked out of the room.
Sarah said unhappily, âMom, what are you happy about? Rosalieâs boyfriend looks like a boy toy.
Maybe heâs also a liar!â
In short, she was not willing to see her niece actually find a good boyfriend and outshine Fiona.
âEnough with that. Rosalieâs a cautious child. She wonât get fooled just by a few words. I can judge myself whether her boyfriend is a liar!â Wilma said.
Sarah pursed her lips. When Rosalie brought Jonathan into the room, Wilma looked at Jonathan with a smile on her face. She said, âYouâre Rosalieâs boyfriend, right? Whatâs your name?â
When Rosalie was about to help with the introduction, Jonathan had already replied, âMy last name is Thompson. Mrs. Lopez, you can call me Jon.â
Rosalie was slightly stunned by Jonathanâs tone of respect and humility toward elders. At least she could not hear Jonathan talking to others in this way at ordinary times.
âSo youâre called Jon. Okay, okay. Iâll call you Jon then.â Wilma smiled and said, âRosalieâs a good child. She has suffered way too much, so you should treat her well.â
âI will. Sheâs the only person Iâve ever chosen in my life, and I wonât choose anyone else other than her,â Jonathan said seriously.
Rosalie could not help but blush and gently pulled Jonathanâs sleeve, trying to hint at the man not to talk too straightforwardly.
However, Wilmaâs next sentence was even more straightforward. âAre you planning to marry Rosalie in the future?â
When Wilma asked that, her turbid eyes suddenly became sharp as if she wanted to see the person in front of her more clearly.
âYes,â Jonathan replied without hesitation. âIâll marry her as long as sheâs willing to.â
To him, he had long regarded her as the only woman he would marry in his life, or she was the only one he wanted to marry.
It was true that Jonathan wanted to marry Rosalie.
He really wanted to do that very much.
Even if she agreed now, he could marry her immediately.
Rosalieâs face suddenly turned redder, while Wilma chuckled and turned to look at Rosalie. âRosalie, you sure have good taste in choosing a man, finding herself a boyfriend like Jon. Iâll be waiting for your wedding day in the future.â
Rosalie felt embarrassed when Wilma mentioned the wedding day, thinking that her grandmother had thought too far ahead, as she and Jonathan had just started dating not too long ago.
However, Rosalie also could not help but imagine the scene of her marriage with Jon.
âGranny, itâs⦠Itâs not that soon!â Rosalie said in astonishment.
