Chapter 295
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
Rosalie and Lillian followed the assistant into Dominicâs resting place.
Dominic was quite friendly, taking the initiative to pose for photos with them and saying, âIf you ever need tickets to movies Iâm starring in, feel free to call me. Iâll have them sent over for you.â
She even generously shared her phone number with Lillian.
In Dominicâs eyes, Rosalie had come with Jonathan, and Jonathan had introduced Ms. Leighton as his girlfriend in person. Naturally, he wanted to build a good relationship with her.
After all, in the entertainment industry, the more connections; the better.
And Lillian was Rosalieâs close friend, so Dominic was willing to extend his goodwill.
If Dominic had been willing to share his phone number with Lillian before, Lillian would have been thrilled. However, at that moment, she simply accepted it and politely thanked him.
After receiving Dominicâs autograph and posters, Lillian took the initiative and said to Dominic, âThank you for today. Weâll head back now.â
Saying this, Lillian tried to lead Rosalie away.
Rosalie, on the other hand, seemed somewhat surprised. She had thought that Lillian might want to stay a bit longer.
Outside-Dominicâs resting place, Rosalie asked, âWhy are we leaving so soon? Are you feeling uncomfortable here before your prince?â
âNo, itâs not that!â Lillian rolled her eyes, discontent with Rosalieâs banter. âI just had a feeling that I shouldnât have brought you here today.â
âBecause of Loretta?â Rosalie inquired.
âShe deliberately did that in front of the fans earlier, clearly trying to defame you. Who knows what they might say about you online later?â Lillian, who often followed celebrity gossip, naturally had such concerns.
âWhatever.â Rosalie shrugged, seemingly unaffected by rumors. She had learned not to care about what others thought. She used to hope that she could maintain a good image in the eyes of others, but later on, she realized that caring too much about othersâ opinions only led to her own disadvantage.
If she continued to worry about what others thought after her release from prison, she might have hanged herself.
âLet Jonathan help you. If there are any unfavorable rumors online, he can find someone to suppress the news,â Lillian suggested, thinking it shouldnât be too difficult for Jonathan.
Rosalie patted her friendâs shoulder reassuringly. âI understand. Donât worry.â
âBy the way, whatâs your relationship with Calvin?â Lillian suddenly remembered something. âHe seemed⦠quite concerned about you just now, and he directly helped you against Loretta.â
From Lillianâs perspective, it appeared that Calvin was on Rosalieâs side, even though he was Lorettaâs boyfriend.
âHe just thinks I resemble someone he used to know. Maybe⦠he lost contact with that person and hasnât found her, so when he looks at me, itâs like some sort of compensation,â Rosalie explained, deducing this from her previous conversations with Calvin.
âSounds like thereâs such a theory.â Lillian recalled some online gossip. âI remember reading online rumors that all of Calvinâs girlfriends are just substitutes for that woman heâs been tirelessly ching for.â
While she used to consider these rumors mere internet gossip, it now seemed like they might have some truth to them.
As they were discussing, Callum walked over in their direction.
Lillian immediately felt a bit uneasy and subconsciously moved a step behind Rosalie.
âWhatâs this? You have the guts to say youâre working overtime today but not the guts to face me?â
Callumâs voice carried a cold tone.
Lillian forced a dry laugh. So obviously, lying was not good. Once you started lying, it was easy to get caught.
Callum then turned his gaze towards Rosalie. âDid you two finish your business? If youâre done, why not join us for a meal?â Rosalie declined, not wanting to be a third wheel. âNo, thank you. I have something else to do. You can go have dinner with Lillian.â
âIn that case, Iâll give you a ride,â Callum offered.
âNo need. I can take the subway in front of the cinema. Itâs convenient, and thereâs no traffic, Rosalie replied before saying her goodbyes to Lillian.
Once Rosalie had departed, Callum folded his arms, fixing Lillian with a half-smile as he said, âI think you should explain todayâs events to me.â
Lillian responded somewhat awkwardly, âUm, I was just tired from working overtime, so I came here with Rosalie to relax.â
âIs that so?â He hmphed, clearly not fully convinced by her explanation.
Switching topics, Lillian inquired, âBy the way, why are you here?â And once the question had been asked, she found herself truly curious. He had even been with Calvin just now when they saw him.
He responded with impatience, âWhat do you think?â
If it werenât for that woman, he wouldnât have come here with Calvin, thinking of getting some of Dominicâs posters and autographs through him.
Naturally, not the posters featuring Calvin shirtless.
It turned out that Calvin had some business here, and Dominic was doing a roadshow today, so he decided to come along.
Little did he expect to catch this little trickster in the act.
Seeing the rolls of posters in the tricksterâs hands, Callum felt a pang of annoyance.
It appeared that she could have obtained what she wanted without his help. Who knew if there were any of those shirtless posters among them?
Lillian blinked, asking, âYouâre not here to help me get Dominicâs autograph and posters, are you?â
She had hit the nail on the head!
However, for some reason, when faced with her perplexed expression, the words of acknowledgment seemed stuck in his throat.
In her mind, she only saw him as someone seeking revenge on her, and she couldnât believe he would do something nice for her.
âIndeed, Iâm not,â Callumâs tone grew colder once again.
âThatâs what I thought,â Lillian mused. Yet for some reason, there was a subtle sense of disappointment in her heart. Whatâs wrong with her? Why should she be disappointed? Callum never liked her being a star chaser in the first place. Did she expect him to join her in chasing stars?
Lillian bit her lip, and at this inopportune moment, her stomach let out a groan.
Callum glanced at her. âHungry?â
âYeahâ¦â she admitted sheepishly. Her voice had been strained during the movie roadshow, expending much of her energy in the process.
