Chapter 337
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
âYeah.â Rosalie sighed. âThere should be no more misunderstanding in the future. And itâs good that he found the person heâs been looking for.â
âGuess that he wonât be crying like that anymore,â she thought. She couldnât help thinking of the night when Calvin cried in front of her.
Somehow, she felt something on her chest that was choking her, and her head was throbbing.
Rosalie suddenly stopped and raised her hand to touch one side of the forehead.
âWhatâs wrong?â Jonathan asked with concern.
âNothing. I just⦠I just got a headache all of a sudden.â
Seeing her pale face, he frowned and said, âYou donât look well. How about we find a motel nearby and get you some rest?â
There werenât any decent hotels around here, just a few small motels.
âNo need,â said Rosalie. It was just a sudden pain and it had gone while she was talking. âIâm fine now.
I want to stay with Grandma a little longer.â
After a pause, she continued, âIâm going to stay here for another three days, Jon. I wonât go back to Strico before the funeral. You can go first.â
âHave you forgotten what I said? I said that I would always be here for you.â Jonathan said.
Rosalie said, âThree days is a long time. Donât you need to go back and take care of the company? I can do this on my own. Anyway⦠All I did was sit here and watch Grandma.â
She was more like an outsider when she was here with her grandma these days. She didnât say anything to those who had come to see her grandmother one last time except to bow to them.
On the contrary, Fiona was treated like a superstar by them. All of them were fawning on her.
Rosalie knew that the change in their attitudes towards Fiona was because of Calvin.
âI will stay with you no matter how many days youâre gonna stay here.â Jonathan said, âI donât want you to be alone here.â
âItâs okay. Now that Uncle Daniel, Uncle Edward, and Aunt Sarah have known who you are, they dare not treat me the way they used to.â Rosalie sounded sure.
After all, few people dared to offend Jonathan, let alone those bullying relatives.
âI know they wouldnât dare bully you. I just canât help worrying about you.â Jonathan said, âIâll only feel relieved when Iâm by your side.â
Besides, it wasnât just her relatives who worried him. There was another manâ¦
Thinking of this, Jonathanâs eyes darkened.
As expected, after returning to the Lopez family, Rosalie saw Fiona surrounded by relatives and neighbors in the town. They were flattering Fiona as usual and many of them wanted to get into the entertainment industry with Fionaâs help.
Apparently, Fiona loved being flattered.
At this moment, seeing Rosalie coming in, someone said immediately, âI always thought that Rosalie would be the most. promising one in the Lopez family. It turned out that the kid everyone thought was the best is now the worst, and Fiona has become the most promising one in this family.â
He was flattering Fiona by degrading Rosalie. Usually, Fiona loved to hear this because she was always compared to Rosalie since they were about the same age and looked alike.
Besides, Rosalie used to be a very good student who did well in school and went to the best university, and Fiona was always overshadowed by her.
Therefore, Fiona always hoped that one day she would be better than Rosalie, but that was her thought before she learned that Jonathan was Rosalieâs boyfriend.
Now, after knowing who Jonathan was, Fiona thought that this relative was making things difficult for her, so she felt embarrassed immediately.
However, that man didnât seem to be done. Instead, he continued, âThereâs a good chance Rosalind has something to do with your grandmotherâs illness. She must have been very upset that someone in the family had been in prison. But thankfully, youâre way better than her, Fiona, and you saved Mr.
Gunner when you were a child. Heâs been looking for you for so many years, and since he finally found you, youâll live a carefree life for the rest of your life.â
Fionaâs face darkened and she took a secret glance at Rosalie, fearing that she would remember something after hearing the relativeâs words.
Unexpectedly, she saw Jonathan staring at her. His deep eyes seemed to mock her, making her panic.
He looked at her as if he were saying âI know youâre nothing but a fraud.â
âOkay, thatâs enough!â Fiona stopped the relative hurriedly. âRosalie has nothing to do with Grandmaâs illness. Sheâs still lying in the coffin now and what you said just now is so disrespectful!â
After saying that, Fiona hurried to Rosalie and comforted her. âDonât mind them. They were just talking bullshit. Youâre my sister and no oneâs gonna drive a wedge between us.â
The relative who was scolded by Fiona looked confused. He thought, âDid I say something wrong?
Fiona used to laugh at Rosalie for having been in prison, didnât she?â
Rosalie was not in the mood for their snide remarks about her, and she didnât want to argue with anybody in the Lopez family and disturb her grandma, so she just said indifferently, âIâm going to stay with Grandma.â Then she walked towards the room where her grandmaâs coffin was.
Jonathan followed Rosalie, but before entering the room, he looked at the relative who belittled her deliberately.
Suddenly, that man had shivers down his spine. He had goosebumps all over his body and felt as if he had stepped into hell in an instant.
He thought, âWhat was that?
Why did his eyes scare me so much?â
Rosalie sat by her grandmaâs coffin all night and Jonathan sat next to her to keep her company.
âYou can lean on me to get a nap if you feel sleepy,â Jonathan said.
âItâs okay. Iâm fine,â Rosalie said. She looked at her grand who looked like a sleeping baby in the glass coffin. âPeople are born with nothing and die with nothing. I sometimes think a lot of people donât know what theyâre living for.â
âNot really. At least, I know what Iâm living for!â said Jonathan.
Rosalie turned to look at Jonathan and heard him say, âI lived to meet you and fall in love with you.â
Because after falling in love with him, he felt that living was not just about living. He had what he wanted to get and a bright future. After falling in love with Rosalind, he realized for the first time that people didnât just live to survive. Now he had a desire for many things and hope for the future
