Chapter 375
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
It was Warren!
He was dressed in a suit and leather shoes. His hair was still as meticulous as she remembered. Even his cold and handsome side face could cause her heart to throb in pain.
Time was kind to him. After all these years, he was still as handsome as before.
But she was deeply hurt, and she was no longer the same as she used to be!
Warren appeared to have noticed her gaze because he turned to face her.
Almost subconsciously, Amelia suddenly scooped up her son and ran toward the safe passage in another direction.
âWhatâs wrong, miss?â the staff at the counter shouted because of Ameliaâs abnormal behavior.
Standing on the escalator, Warren only saw a figure running away in haste and disappearing.
But then, at the same moment, his expression changed. A group of people who had been behind Warren then noticed their boss, who had always been known for his composure, sprinting madly down the escalator and for the safe passage exit.
Warrenâs two bodyguards followed him closely.
Those people who were left behind on the escalator looked at each other, unable to understand what was going on.
Warren ran as fast as he could. Everything around him appeared to be an illusion. Only the figure that had fled in that way was real to him.
He thought, âIt was her! It must be her!â
That figure was dressed in dark clothes and had her hair tied up, completely different from what he remembered.
But as soon as he caught a glimpse of that figure, his heart raced as if instinct were continually reminding him that it was her.
Amelia!
He never forgot this name over the years.
He thought of her tears and her harsh words!
How could she think that everything would end once she was put in prison? It was ridiculous.
No, it was not over yet! He would get everything back that she owed him!
But after she was released from prison, she disappeared. No matter who he sent to look for her, he came up empty-handed.
He didnât expect that she would be in Strico!
Warren ran to the first floor, but he was still unable to spot the person he was looking for.
The first floor of the mall was bustling with people.
Warren pursed his thin lips hard as if they were coated with ice.
He suddenly slammed his hand forcefully on the wall next to him, shocking the bodyguards who caught up with him.
âMr. York, your hand was injured beforeâ¦â
Warren crushed a glass and cut his hand at the exhibition that day. The wound finally began to heal these two days, but after this slam on the wall, it fractured now.
His palm began to bleed profusely.
Upon seeing this, the two bodyguards hurried forward to address it urgently. Warren only scowled fiercely as if he couldnât feel the pain at all.
He had to find her since she was in Strico, even if it meant turning the entire city upside down!
âMommy?â Aiden called Amelia after they got in the taxi.
Although he didnât know why his mother scooped him up out of the blue when he was selecting a birthday present for Rosalie, he held his tongue until now. He had always been a good child. He believed that she had a reason to do so, so he did not say anything along the way.
âJust now⦠I saw someone I didnât want to meet, so I just ran away with you in my arms. Iâll take you there the other day to buy a present, okay?â Amelia said.
Aiden nodded and asked in a sweet voice, âIs the person you donât want to see a bad guy?â
Amelia suddenly felt sad. When Aiden was younger, he once asked her about his fatherâs whereabouts.
And she told him that his dad was in heaven every time.
She didnât know when Aiden would really understand what it meant to be in heaven.
But she knew that at this moment, she couldnât tell her that his dad was just a few feet away from them.
She could not tell him that he had in fact seen his father, but his existence was never what that man wanted.
That man had never thought of having such a child at all.
âMommy, why are you crying?â Aidenâs little hand touched Ameliaâs cheek. There was a worried look on his adorable face, which was more mature than kids around his age.
Only then did Amelia realize that her face was already covered with tears.
âMommy, donât cry. I will behave myself and put more effort into my speech development. I will wear hearing aids and learn a lot of things,â Aiden responded, believing his mother was once again upset for him.
In the past, he had no hearing, and his mother would hold him as she sobbed and spoke to his grandma.
Only by observing her lips could he deduce that what Mom and Grandma were discussing had something to do with his hearing.
His mom was sad because he couldnât hear.
His mom smiled at him every day ever since he started wearing a hearing aid in his ear.
He didnât like it when his mother cried instead of smiling.
He would certainly put forth the effort to improve his speaking ability and make his mom smile every day!
Aidenâs sensibility made Ameliaâs eyes even sorer. âOkay, I wonât cry. I will chat with you.â
She wanted to always be by Aidenâs side, yet she grew more nervous.
She wondered if she could avoid Warren.
At night, after Aiden fell asleep, Matilda looked at her daughter uneasily and said, âYou bumped into Warren today. Did he see you?â
âI donât know.â Amelia shook her head. At that time, she rushed toward the safe passage with Aiden in her arms, just wanting to leave the mall as soon as possible.
âIf he finds us, weâ¦â Matilda said with some hesitation. âHe is still searching everywhere for you. Is he stillâ¦â
Amelia knew that her mother was fantasizing about Warrenâs compassion for her again.
If he had been merciful to her, he wouldnât have sent her to prison so cruelly, not even giving her a chance to explain!
âMom, heâs looking for me because he hasnât exacted enough retribution. I was only incarcerated for a few years. For him, it wasnât enough.â
When Matilda heard this, her eyes grew gloomy, and she sighed, âHave you come up with a solution?â
âLet him exact his vengeance if he truly wants to. Itâs just⦠I will never give Aiden to him!â Amelia said firmly.
Aiden was her life⦠It would never happen unless she died!
