Chapter 38
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
The traffic light turned green.
When Zachary was about to drive, his body suddenly stiffened. The look of the man who could not be offended in Strico appeared in Zacharyâs mind.
Zachary exclaimed inwardly, âThis man looks a lot like Jonathan! But itâs impossible. How could Jonathan be with Rosalie? It must be a joke!â
The car behind Zacharyâs honked, and Zachary hurriedly drove. At that moment, the man standing beside Rosalie looked up in Zacharyâs direction.
The moment the man turned around, Zachary only felt his blood freeze.
Zachary mused, âJâJonathan?â
He wondered if the man was Jonathan. Even if his clothes and hairstyle were different from what he remembered, the man was truly Jonathan.
Zachary was driving stiffly and felt everything had become unreal.
At the intersection, Rosalie rubbed her eyes and finally felt no sand in her eyes. It seemed that Jonâs help was quite effective.
She looked at the person beside her, only to find he was looking at the other side of the intersection.
âJon, what are you looking at?â asked Rosalie.
âNothing. Itâs just⦠I think I just saw an acquaintance,â responded Jonathan lightly.
âYour friend?â
âNo, he and I are never friends.â A glint flashed in his eyes.
Zachary did not sleep well all night. He kept recalling the scene he saw at the intersection the previous night in his mind.
He felt that he was mistaken. Perhaps the person standing next to Rosalie was somewhat similar to Jonathan.
After all, it was impossible for a high and mighty man like Jonathan to walk with Rosalie.
Besides, Rosalie killed Jonathanâs fiancée.
âIâm afraid no one will believe what I saw,â thought Zachary.
111GD However, he still felt anxious deep down.
âWhat if that man was really Jonathan?â he pondered. Zachary could hardly imagine it.
The next day, Zachary came to the street cleaned by Rosalie and found her.
âNow⦠are you with anyone?â Zacharyâs question was vague.
Rosalie was stunned. She did not expect Zachary to appear in front of her early in the morning and ask her that question.
She said, âI think it has nothing to do with you, Mr. Xanthos. Itâs my working hour now. Please get out of the way.â
She continued to sweep as if Zachary was not there.
Zachary grabbed Rosalie coldly and said, âIâm not kidding. Who was the man with you yesterday?â
Rosalie frowned. Zachary was asking about Jon. âMr. Xanthos, itâs none of your business. Why do I have to report to you when Iâm with my younger brother?â
âYounger brother? When did you have a brother?â Zachary only remembered that Rosalie had a younger sister.
âI reckon him as my brother. Canât I do that?â asked Rosalie.
Zachary stared at Rosalie as if he wanted to examine the credibility of her words from her expression.
At that moment, Yulissa, who was sweeping on the other side of the road, saw what had happened and rushed over. âMr. Xanthos, you can talk this out. Donât get violent.â
Yulissa recognized that Zachary was the one who accompanied Yvette to apologize at the Environment and Sanitation Administration that day. According to gossip, Zachary was Rosalieâs exâboyfriend.
âMr. Xanthos, if you donât let go of me, Iâm afraid someone will take a picture of us. You might have to explain yourself to Ms. Hamilton,â said Rosalie.
Zacharyâs expression changed. Then, he let go of Rosalie and left directly.
Yulissa looked at Rosalie worriedly and said, âWhy did he come to you?â
âWho knows what he wants to do? Iâm fine!â replied Rosalie. She did not assume that Zachary came over and asked her the question because he still had feelings for her.
It was just abnormal. No one knew what Zachary wanted to do.
âBy the way, when you take a lunch break later, plead with Mr. Johnson. I heard that Queenie seems to be collecting some signatures to ask Mr. Johnson to fire you,â Yulissa told Rosalie the news she had heard.
Rosalie frowned. It seemed that Queenie really spared no effort to drive her away. âIf Mr. Johnson really wants to fire me, itâs useless for me to plead. If I have no choice, Iâll find another job.â
She was slightly helpless to say that. After all, Rosalie had been looking so hard to get that job. It would not be easy to find another one. Yulissa also sighed. She naturally knew that they did not even sign a contract for that kind of job. It was clearly inferior to Queenie, who already had a position.
Yulissa knew what the director would choose after giving it some thought.
After finishing their work, they returned to the Environment and Sanitation Administration and met Queenie.
Queenie looked at Rosalie smugly. âI think youâd better get ready to leave as soon as possible. We donât want to work with a criminal.â
Rosalie appeared indifferent instead of getting scared like Queenie had expected.
âKeep pretending. Mr. Johnson will call you to his office soon!â Queenie was unhappy and snorted coldly. She had finally collected the signatures of most people. When Queenie gave the signatures to Parker, it seemed that Rosalie would be fired.
A moment later, an employee of the HR Department said, âQueenie, Mr. Johnson asked you to go to his office.â
âMe?â Queenie was a little surprised. She wondered, âDoes Mr. Johnson still have something unclear and want to ask me first before firing Rosalie?â
Queenie went to Parkerâs office.
Yulissa looked worried. âRosalie, when you meet Mr. Johnson later, tell him more about your difficulties. Maybe heâll sympathize with you and wonât fire you.â
âItâs fine,â said Rosalie.
Some colleagues around looked at her sympathetically, while some were disgusted.
However, no one expected when Queenie came out of Parkerâs office, she looked disappointed and completely lost her previous complacency.
A colleague surrounded Queenie and asked, âQueenie, what did Mr. Johnson tell you?â
At that moment, Queenie was about to cry. She felt like she was dreaming. She thought, âHow could it be possible that I was fired? Wasnât it supposed to be Rosalie?â
However, the words Parker had said to Queenie when she was in his office were still ringing in her ears.
