Chapter 471
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
âMr. York!â Aiden exclaimed with surprise.
Warren stepped forward and ruffled Aidenâs head.
Matilda came over after hearing the commotion. Her face turned pale when she saw Warren. She wanted to rush forward to pull Aiden back, but her body involuntary trembled when Warren gave her a casual glance.
After all, Warren had brought too much harm to the Haab family.
Back when Amelia was detained, she had pleaded with him not to testify against Amelia, but it didnât work out. He had just coldly looked at her and said, âThis is what the Haab family owes the York family, and what she owes Irene! Just letting her sit in prison for a few years is too cheap for her.â
Amelia sensed Matildaâs fear, so she quickly stepped forward and held Matildaâs hand tightly.
Only then did Matilda calm down a little.
âWarren, if you have something to say, letâs go outside to talk!â Amelia said.
But Warren casually waved her off. âI didnât come here for you today.â Then, he crouched down and looked straight at Aiden. âYour last name is York, not Haab.â
As she heard that, Ameliaâs body stiffened, and she immediately understood what he had come here for!-
No, she couldnât let him continue.
If Aiden found out nowâ¦
She wanted to rush forward to take off Aidenâs hearing aid and prevent him from hearing what Warren would say next.
But it was too late. Warrenâs voice continued to echo in the small room, âAiden, I am your father.â
âNo, youâre not!â Amelia rushed to Aidenâs side and glared at Warren.
If it werenât for Warrenâs hand firmly resting on Aidenâs shoulder; Amelia might have already pulled him behind her.
âWhatâs wrong? Do you want me to throw the DNA report right in front of you before you admit it?â
Warren said coldly.
Ameliaâs body swayed slightly.
Aiden looked at Warren in confusion and turned to look at Amelia. âMommy, isnât Daddy in heaven?
Why is Mr. York saying heâs my Daddy?â
Ameliaâs mouth was filled with bitterness. She couldnât help but wonder what should she do, and how could she tell Aiden that his father had never anticipated his existence.
He had even come close to not being born because of a single statement from Warren.
âFrom now on, Iâll take you back to the York family and let you acknowledge your roots,â Warren said.
âYou wonât have to live in a small room like this, and you can have any toys you want. In the future, no one will mock you for anything!â
Warren could imagine the kind of ridicule a child with a hearing impairment might face.
Aiden was Warrenâs son, and even if he had a disability, Warren wouldnât tolerate anyone mocking Aiden.
Aidenâs eyes brightened hearing that. Although he didnât fully understand some of the words, he grasped the meaning.
âAre you really my Daddy?â Aiden asked.
âYes,â Warren replied unwaveringly.
âDoes that mean Daddy will live with Mommy, Granny Matilda, and me from now on?â Aidenâs innocent voice continued to inquire, filled with longing.
He had seen in cartoons that families lived together.
Warren fixed his gaze on Aiden and was about to answer when Amelia said, âAll right, Aiden, Daddyâ¦
has something to attend to and needs to leave. Letâs say goodbye to him.â
It was difficult for Amelia to utter the word âDaddy.â
âDaddy wonât live with us today?â There was, a hint of disappointment in Aidenâs voice.
âThis place is so small, and if he stays here, it will be too cramped Amelia said while looking at Warren with an almost pleading expression.
Amelia hoped that Warren wouldnât say anything inore and shatter Aidenâs simple world.
Warren furrowed his brow. The words he had intended to say seemed to get stuck in his throat. He couldnât utter them under her gaze.
Warren then thought to himself, âAre you kidding me? Why should I care about Ameliaâs gaze?
Iâve never owed her anything; it it Amelia who owes me!â
Nevertheless, Warren ultimately remained silent.
Amelia quickly added, âAiden, come on, say goodbye to Daddy. Itâs very late, and you should get ready for bed.â
Aiden obediently waved to Warren, then expressed once more his hope that Warren and Amelia could live together.
Amelia could only feel a profound sense of bitterness.
When Matilda took Aiden to the bathroom to wash up, Amelia looked at Warren and said, âWarren, no matter whatâs between us, I hope at least in front of Aiden, you wonât say things that will make him sad, upset, or disillusioned.â
âBut heâll find out sooner or later. So, what difference does it make if I say it now or later?â Warren replied.
âAiden means nothing to you, does he? Why did you come here to disrupt our peace?â Amelia said, her voice filled with resentment. âYou said you want revenge? Fine, Iâll give you revenge. Three and a half years in prison wasnât enough, the stab to the abdomen wasnât enough. So, tell me, what would be enough? Should it be losing a hand or a foot?â
She was willing to pay any price as long as she could protect-Aiden.
Warrenâs face gradually turned ashen.
âAmelia, why do you think losing a hand or a foot is enough for you?â Warren spat out in a chilling tone.
âI wonât let Aiden continue to stay with you. Iâve said it before, I will ensure you have no right to even see him in the future.â
With that, he turned to leave.
âWarren!â Amelia called out his name and grabbed his arm tightly. âDo you have to do this? Do you have to take Aiden away from me?â
He gave her a fleeting glance at her hand gripping his arm, then raised his own hand, slowly pulling her fingers away from his arm. âSince you dared to give birth to my child back then, you should be prepared for this! I may not harm you while youâre in Strico, but that doesnât mean Iâll let Aiden stay with you!â
Looking at her empty hands, despair crept back onto Ameliaâs face again. After enduring so much hardship, was she still unable to secure what she wanted?
She had lost love and freedom in the past. Now, did she have to lose her child as well?
All she wanted was to raise her child and watch him grow up. Why was something so simple so difficult for her?
