Chapter 473
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
âFine, have her give out the phone number, and you make the call. If this woman dares to say anything she shouldnât, just cripple her!â the driver hissed with malice..
Fear crept over Rosalieâs face, but deep down, she understood that she couldnât afford to be scared. If she allowed fear to consume her, she would lose any chance to save herself!
At least, the situation was much better than before, when she was in prison.
When she was in prison, she couldnât avoid the harm inflicted by others, no matter how hard she tried.
No matter what kind of harm it was, she had to endure it!
The man reached for his phone, and Rosalie recited Jonathanâs phone number.
It was rather pitiable. She had been striving so hard to distance herself from Jonathan, constantly reminding herself that the man now known as Jonathan was no longer the same as Jon.
Yet, in such a critical moment, Rosalie still had to rely on Jonathan.
Soon, the call was answered, and Jonathanâs voice came through âRosie?â The caller ID displayed an unfamiliar number, which was puzzling to him, because only Rosalie should have known this number.
âIs this your brother?â The man instantly grew angry, feeling like Rosalie was trying to deceive him.
âNo, no, I donât have a brother. Heâs⦠my benefactor who enjoys playing the role of my brother,â
Rosalie explained.
âThatâs pretty disgusting!â the man spat out.
On the other end of the phone, Jonathan had begun to realize that something was wrong. He questioned, âWho are you?â
âListen carefully, your beloved is in our hands. If you want to rescue her, prepare 2 million dollars and transfer it to the account we specify,â the man declared.
âFine,â Jonathan agreed without hesitation. âBut if you dare to harm her, you wonât get a single penny.â
âYou can prepare the money first!â
âIâm serious. If you hurt her, youâll live the rest of your days in torment.â The cold voice, even through the phone, still gave a strong sense of oppression.
So much so that the man holding the phoneâs hand trembled for a moment, and the phone in his hand almost slipped to the ground.
âI want to hear her voice!â Jonathan added.
Reluctantly, the man handed the phone over to Rosalie, whose hands were still tied. âHey, your benefactor wants to hear your voice!â
âJ-Jonâ¦â Rosalie bit her lip and spoke with some difficulty.
âHow are you? Are you okay?â
âIâm not hurt now,â she replied.
âDonât worry. I wonât let you get hurt,â Jonathan reassured her.
It was a short sentence, but it brought an inexplicable sense of comfort to her heart.
âAlright, thatâs it! 2 million dollars, not a penny less!â the man said and ended the call. Then, he texted Jonathan the account number.
âYou know, your benefactor seems quite wealthy, not hesitating at all to transfer 2 million dollars.â the man chuckled. âOnce we get that 2 million dollars, we canâ¦â
âEnough with the talking. Get the money first, and then weâll see!â the driver scolded him.
The man stopped talking, and they left Rosalie alone for the moment.
Rosalie knew that the two men wouldnât release her even after receiving the money, and would likely continue to harm her.
But she wasnât worried at this point.
Was it because of Jonathan? She was confident that he would come to her rescue.
Thinking about it, Rosalie couldnât help but smile bitterly again.
She had planned to rely on herself entirely, but now, it seemed she was still relying on him.
The van driven by the kidnappers headed towards the southern part of the city, taking a more secluded route. They were close to getting out of the city!
Rosalie had no idea how Jonathan had planned for her rescue. However, as they approached the highway exit, the van suddenly came to a halt.
âWhy did you stop?â the man sitting behind with Rosalie asked the driver.
But the driver didnât answer.
Growing impatient, the man glared at Rosalie. âYou better behave yourself!â He then leaned forward, halfway out of his seat, and peered through the windshield.
Suddenly, the man froze, his face contorting to a shocked expression, and his body involuntarily trembled.
âWhat the hell was going on?â Rosalie thought to herself.
At this moment, with her hands tied and lying in the car, Rosalie couldnât sit up and couldnât see what was happening outside the carâs front.
Just then, a loudspeaker outside the car announced, âTo the individuals in the vehicle, you are being surrounded. Surrender now and do not harm the hostage. Otherwise, the only ones getting hurt or killed will be you!â
Rosalie was bewildered. âSurrounded?â she repeated in her heart.
She wondered if it was Jonathanâs doing.
The vanâs door was forcibly opened, and police officers in uniform swiftly apprehended the two men and took them out of the vehicle. Following them, a figure entered Rosalieâs view.
It was Jonathan!
Rosalie stared at Jonathanâs handsome face in a daze. His expression was dark and menacing as he looked at her in her current state as if he were ready to kill someone.
âNo one is allowed to come!â Jonathan suddenly said before swiftly entering the van. He untied the ropes binding Rosalieâs hands and removed his own suit jacket to cover her.
âWho did the beating? Or were both of them involved?â Jonathan raised his hand and lightly touched the obvious handprint on Rosalieâs face.
Her cheeks were swollen on both sides from the multiple slaps she had received earlier.
She took a sharp breath, and only now did she start to feel the pain on her cheeks. âIt was⦠the one who wasnât wearing a mask,â she replied.
âWhere else did you get hurt? Did theyâ¦â
âNo!â she hurriedly replied. âJust some beatings.â
Jonathan pursed his thin lips and bent down to carry Rosalie out of the van.
Once outside, Rosalie finally saw the situation around them.
Rows of heavily armed police officers were lined up, each with real firearms. Police vehicles had practically blocked off the entire highway interchange. It was no wonder the two men had been bewildered earlier.
The situation resembled a confrontation with a dangerous criminal organization or even a major international criminal case.
Such a level of response was unheard of for a typical kidnapping.
Rosalie was also shocked. She hadnât expected Jonathan to orchestrate such a massive operation!
The two kidnappers, who were now handcuffed by the police, couldnât believe their eyes as they saw Jonathan carry Rosalie toward them.
