Chapter 513
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
âShould I go wait for him in his office?â Fiona suggested.
âIâm afraid that wouldnât be appropriate, Ms. Haberly. Itâs better to wait outside,â the secretary replied.
Fiona clenched her teeth and could only take a seat on the couch outside.
She felt that the secretaryâs attitude toward her today was different from before. While she still appeared respectful on the surface and even poured her a cup of coffee when she sat down, there was no longer that sense of flattery.
âWas it because Calvin publicly stated in the interview that they werenât in a romantic relationship?â As she thought of this, Fiona couldnât help but feel irritated.
Just because Calvin said so, her classmates at school started mocking her, not to mention the snobbish people on the set.
Many people had initially praised her because of her relationship with Calvin, but now she felt like she had been pushed back to square one.
At that moment, Fiona noticed a high-ranking executive from the company walking out of the elevator and approaching the secretaryâs desk. He asked, âIs Mr. Gunner not back yet?â
âYes, I heard Mr. Gunner went to the Legal Department with someone,â the secretary replied.
âYeah, he went to the Legal Department. Word is spreading in our department, and people are wondering if that woman is the one Mr. Gunner mentioned in the interview, the one heâs in love with. I mean, when have you ever seen Mr. Gunner accompany a woman to the Legal Department?â The executive couldnât resist gossiping.
âWhat kind of person is she?â the secretary asked curiously.
âI heard sheâs a legal assistant from a law firm, but I donât know the details.â
âIt must be Rosalie!â Fiona concluded inwardly as she listened. âCalvin had placed all his attention on Rosalie. No, I canât let this continue. If Calvin ends up with Rosalie, then in the future, I will have no place by his side!â
Rosalie was somewhat surprised when she left Gunner Group and found herself confronted by Fiona..
âRosalie, what a coincidence, running into you here,â Fiona said with a smile.
âA coincidence?â Rosalie thought as she raised an eyebrow. She didnât think it was much of a coincidence to see her cousin as soon as she left the building.
âDo you need something, Fiona?â Rosalie asked directly.
âItâs not a big deal, but since we ran into each other, how about finding a place to sit and chat?â Fiona invited.
âNo, thanks. Itâs my working hours now, and I have to get back to the law firm,â Rosalie declined. âIf you donât have any urgent matters, Iâll be on my way.â
âWait!â Fiona hurriedly called out. âI-I wanted to ask you about your relationship with Calvin.â
Rosalie looked at Fiona and thought, âIâm afraid this is the real reason why Fiona blocked me here.â
âI think thatâs my personal business,â Rosalie said. In other words, she had no comment.
âRosalie, that day at the police station, Calvin said he was in love with you. So, what are your feelings for him? And I noticed. that Mr. Jonathan Youngblood seems to care about you a lot. Have you really broken up with him?â Fiona asked carefully.
Rosalie simply looked at Fiona and didnât answer.
Fiona showed an awkward expression and said, âRosalie, you know, I donât have a high level of education, and Iâve made mistakes in the past, but now Calvin is the only one I can rely on, and these days, I really like him.â
She continued as she blushed slightly, âYou still have Jonathan, but I only have will you?â
Rosalie stared at Fiona until the latter felt guilty.
Calvin. You wonât take Calvin away from me, âRosalie, why are you staring at me? I know I said something that upset you in the past, but Iâm being sincere now.â
âFiona, are you hoping Iâll answer that I donât love Calvin, that I have no feelings for him? So that you can feel at ease? At least you can stand on the moral high ground, and if I do develop feelings for Calvin in the future, you can use my words against me?â Rosalie asked.
Fionaâs expression revealed that Rosalie had hit the mark. That was indeed her original intention.
âFiona, do you not find it ridiculous? You need someone elseâs commitment for your own feelings. For the sake of Granny, Iâll remind you once more. Calvin is not so easily deceived. If you withdraw now, you might still have a chance. But the more you gain, the worse it will be in the futureâ¦â said Rosalie.
If a man like Calvin found out he had been deceived, the consequences would undoubtedly be dire for Fiona.
âWhat do you mean by that?â Fiona immediately changed her expression. âAre you threatening me? As long as you donât say anything, everything between me and Calvin will be fine.â
As she watched her cousinâs reaction, Rosalie knew that no matter how much she said, it would be in vain. âFine, do as you wish. Iâve said all I wanted to. You wonât need to find me regarding anything related to Calvin in the future.â
Rosalie then turned and walked away.
Fiona stood still, but there was a smug look in her eyes. Slowly, she took out a voice recorder from her pocket. She already had the content she wanted, and with some editing, she would get the effect she desired!
A black Bentley parked in the shadows. The car was silent, with Jonathan sitting inside, looking out the window in the direction of the residential gate, lost in thought.
Carlos didnât even dare to say anything.
After an unknown amount of time, a slender figure entered Carlosâ line of sight. He couldnât help but feel relieved. Finally, Rosalie had returned. Whatâs more, she had returned alone!
Carlos had been worried that some other man might accompany Rosalie back. If that were the case, it would undoubtedly upset Jonathan.
However, to his surprise, Jonathan didnât get out of the car, and he continued to gaze out the window even after Rosalieâs figure disappeared into the residential area.
âMr. Youngblood, Ms. Leighton has gone insideâ¦â Carlos reminded, thinking that Jonathan might not have noticed Rosalie. However, Jonathan seemed not to hear it and just looked out of the window.
âSo, did Mr. Youngblood see Rosalie just now?â Carlos wondered inwardly. âBut if he did see her, why didnât he get out of the car? He had been waiting for Rosalie for over an hour today.â
After another hour had passed, Jonathan finally gave a faint order, âLetâs head back to the Youngblood residence.â
