Chapter 564
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
It turned out that to her, they were just a mistake.
âThe woman whom I love the most in the world is asking me to let her go. Is there anything more sarcastic than this?â Jonathan mocked himself.
âOkay, Iâll let you go.â He heard his own voice saying, âFrom now on, we have nothing to do with each other anymore!â
No matter what kind of relationship they had, whether it was love or whether she was Rosie, did not exist anymore.
Just like the two parallel lines remained as parallel lines at the end.
Calvin took Rosalie back to her rental home. She hadnât gone back for a week, but there were not many changes in the house, except that some dust accumulated at some places.
âActually, you didnât need to kneel down to Jonathan.â Calvin added, âEven if you didnât kneel, I could think of other ways to escape.â
Rosalie smiled bitterly. She would just consider her kneel as a repayment to Jonathanâs kneel.
The day before, Jonathan had knelt in front of her and begged her to love him! And today, it was her turn to kneel in front of him and beg him to let her go!
âCalvin, Iâm really thankful to you butâ¦â Rosalie paused and looked at his two hands with a complicated gaze. Fortunately, Jonathan didnât break Calvinâs left hand in the end. Otherwise, she would owe him more. âYou donât have to do all this for me. Iâve told you before that I have noâ¦â
âNo feelings, right?â he continued the rest of her sentence. âYou only think so today. Itâs the same for tomorrow. But are you so sure that you wonât have feelings for me for the next one or two years? Or even ten or twenty years later?â
Rosalie gasped and Calvin added, âRosalie, I can wait. As long as you donât fall in love with other men, I can keep on waiting.â
âWhat if you can only wait for the rest of your life?â Rosalie asked.
Calvin smiled faintly. âIt might not be that bad if both of us are not married for the rest of our lives.â
Rosalie felt suffocated by his statement. For a moment, she didnât know what to say anymore.
Calvin got up. âWell, you havenât been back for a week. Iâll help you tidy your house. Otherwise, it might be very dusty when you sleep tonight.â
âItâs okay. Iâll do it myself,â she responded hurriedly.
âWhat? Are you afraid that I canât do my job well with just a hand?â Calvin added, âI can do a lot of things even if I can only use one hand.â
Calvin started to clean up the house. Rosalie was speechless. She couldnât stop Calvin at all, so she cleaned up with him for a while.
Then, she boiled a kettle of water and handed him a glass after the water got warm.
He accepted the water and suddenly said, âAs far as I remember, this is the first time you took the initiative to offer me water.â
âHuh?â Rosalie was stunned.
âLook, this is something that has never happened before. It doesnât mean that it will not happen in the future.â Calvin always gave people a sense of indifference and alienation, but at this moment, when facing Rosalie, he was showing a rare tenderness. âJust like you, maybe in the future, you might really fall in love with me, right?â
After saying that, he raised his head and gulped down the glass of water in his hand. Then he continued, âShould I send some men to protect you? To prevent Jonathan from taking you away again.â
âThereâs no need.â Rosalie shook her head. âSince he has declared the end of our relationship today, I donât think he will come looking for me anymore.â
Calvin stared at Rosalie for a moment and then nodded slightly. âOkay then. Itâs late already. I have to go back first. If something happens, just call me anytime.â
After Calvin left, Rosalie smiled bitterly. Her phone was apparently still with Jonathan.
The last time she was locked in Jonathanâs house, he took away her phone. She had never seen her phone again after that.
It seemed that she had to report the loss of her SIM card tomorrow and reapply for a new one. She should buy a new phone too.
It didnât cost much to reapply for a new SIM card, but itâs different with a new phone. Just as she was pondering about the price of a new phone, there was a knock on the door.
âDid Calvin turn back?â Rosalie thought. She stood up and opened the door of her rental home.
To her surprise, Carlos was standing at the door.
âHello, Ms. Leighton. Here is your phone. Mr. Youngblood has asked me to return it to you.â Carlos handed the phone to Rosalie.
Rosalie took the phone and Carlos left without saying another word.
Back in her house, Rosalie turned on her phone. There was still a little battery left. She saw many missed calls, most of which were from Lillian and some from people in the firm.
Rosalie immediately called Lillian to check in with her.
As soon as Lillian received the call from Rosalie, she was so thrilled. âDid you escape from Jonathan?
Did you get hurt? Where did Jonathan bring you to? Did he do anything to you?â.
The string of questions made Rosalie feel Lillianâs concern.
âHe didnât do anything to me,â Rosalie replied. âBesides, I donât think he will do anything to me anymore from now on.â
âWhat do you mean?â Lillian was shocked.
âIt should be impossible to continue with our relationship anymore,â Rosalie said faintly.
âYouâ¦â Lillian wanted to say something but stopped. She felt that Rosalieâs voice was calm but there seemed to be something else. âAre you really okay?â
âIâm okay. All right, Iâm just calling to check in with you that I have returned to my rental house. Things like before wonât happen anymore in the future. Thereâs not much battery left on my phone. Iâll hang up first,â Rosalie said.
After Rosalie ended the call, she checked her phone again. It was no different from that before Jonathan took it away. The only difference was that a photo had been deleted.
A photo of Jonathan when he was little had been deleted.
Before they broke up, she saw his childhood photo album. She had taken a picture of the photo with her phone then.
Later, she broke up with him. She had deleted his phone number, but this photo had always been on her mobile phone all along.
And now, this photo has been deleted. It was Jonathanâs way of telling her that he had nothing to do with her anymore!
It was not that bad, actually. It was a clean break up. She can avoid any emotional entanglements.
âThe man who called me Rosie. The man who said he loved me. Eventually, it was just a memory.â
Rosalie laughed at herself. Her eyes were drooping slightly while looking at her feet in a daze.
When he knelt in front of her, kissed her instep, and made a promise, itâs not that she was not touched.
She actually had thought of getting together again with Jonathan.
