Chapter 573
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
âWhat on earth was happening?â Rosalie thought.
She rushed toward the door of the lounge almost instinctively. However, as Rosalie reached for the doorknob, her heart sank.
The door was locked from the outside.
âWas this a setup? Was it Fionaâs doing?â Rosalie wondered.
Josephâs heavy breathing drew closer, and he lunged toward herâ¦
Outside the lounge, Fiona appeared calm while her makeup artist worked on her. But inside, she was extremely nervous.
She wasnât sure if things were progressing smoothly.
She had secretly invited Joseph today and laced his drink with drugs. Then, she asked him to hide behind the curtain in the lounge and wait for her.
Her excuse was that her current image needed to be maintained, and she couldnât afford to be seen associating closely with him. After all, such kind of transaction had to be discreet.
Although there were many loopholes in her story, Joseph still believed it. After all, 10 million dollars was too tempting for him.
And now, according to Fionaâs plan, once Rosalie entered the lounge, Joseph would almost certainly be affected by the drug. Then, she could bring Calvin over to catch them in the act, not only embarrassing Rosalie completely but also allowing Calvin to deal directly with Joseph. At that point, Joseph wouldnât be able to threaten her anymore.
More importantly, Calvin wouldnât be interested in Rosalie after witnessing her engaged in such a compromising situation with another man. A man like Calvin wouldnât tolerate a woman with such a scandalous reputation.
The Gunner family, in particular, would never accept a woman with such a disgraceful past as well.
Thinking about her cunning plan, Fionaâs lips curled into a smug smile.
Just then, there was some commotion in the set. Fionaâs eyes lit up when she spotted a tall figure approaching her.
Finally, Calvin had arrived, and her show was about to begin.
Fiona had finished her makeup by now. She stepped forward and said, âCalvin, youâre here!â
âDo I really need to watch this scene youâre filming today?â Calvin asked. He didnât particularly like how Fiona looked now, but he couldnât forget that she had saved his life once. So, as long as her requests werenât too unreasonable, he would usually accommodate her.
Fiona replied, âYes, itâs very important! Your presence here gives me more confidence.â However, she was not referring to the scene that she was about to shoot later.
As Fiona spoke, she tried to reach out for Calvinâs arm, attempting to create an intimate atmosphere in front of others.
However, before her hand could touch Calvinâs arm, he moved away, leaving her hands empty and her posture awkward.
âFiona, please donât do anything that could be misinterpreted by others in the future. I simply consider you a childhood. friend,â Calvin said.
Instantly, Fiona felt as though the eyes of those around her were filled with mockery.
Calvin had essentially declared in front of everyone that they were just friends! Right in her presence!
Fiona seethed with anger but managed to force a smile. âOf courseâ¦. I understand. By the way, Rosalie is here today. I asked her to wait for me in the lounge. Itâs not my turn to shoot yet, so Iâll go see her first.â
After that, Fiona made a move toward the lounge.
âSheâs here too?â Calvin was surprised but quickly followed Fiona. He couldnât stand the thought of not seeing Rosalie.
If he werenât worried about his pursuit coming on too strong or annoying her, he would have visited her every day!
In these days, he refrained from seeking Rosalie out, hoping she would have the time to collect her emotions. Yet, he battled his inner urge almost every day to go see her.
Fiona couldnât help but feel pleased. It seemed that everything was going according to her plan.
All she needed to do was push open the door to the lounge, feign surprise, and shout, drawing everyoneâs attention to the lounge door. Then, Rosalie would be ruined beyond redemption!
However, as the two of them approached the lounge door, the sound of ambulance sirens filled the mailâs entrance. Paramedics rushed toward them, carrying a stretcher.
âExcuse me, excuse me!â shouted the paramedics as they ran. âWhere is the person who took the wrong medication?â
Fiona was dumbfounded. âWhat was going on? Who had called for paramedics?â she thought.
However, before she could figure things out, police officers pushed through the crowd outside. âWe received a report of someone being drugged here. The callerâs name is Rosalie. Do any of you know where she is?â
âShe called the police?â Fiona felt petrified!
When Calvin heard that the policeman read Rosalieâs name, he grew increasingly anxious and urgently asked Fiona, âFiona, which lounge did you say you were going to look for Rosalie?â
âJ-just this oneâ¦â Fiona was startled by Calvinâs anxious expression. Her finger instinctively pointed to a nearby lounge, and her mind went blank.
âWhat was happening? Why were there ambulances and police?â she thought to herself.
Calvin ignored Fiona and rushed toward the indicated lounge. He pushed the door open and stood there, seemingly frozen as his charming eyes fixed on what was inside.
overjoye Fiona came back to her senses and was overjoyed when she saw Calvinâs stunned face.
âWas Calvin shocked? Had he seen Rosalie and Joseph acting out a disgusting scene inside?â she wondered.
Now, Rosalie was done for!
Fiona quickly pretended to be anxious and raised her voice intentionally as she spoke, âCalvin, whatâs going on? Has something happened? Is Rosalie in trouble?â
Originally, the arrival of police and paramedics had already attracted attention. Now, Fionaâs shout drew even more people toward them, and the shooting that was originally taking place also stopped.
However, when Fiona reached the lounge door, she was stunned!
It was nothing like what she had expected.
At this moment, both Joseph and Rosalie were indeed in the lounge. However, Joseph had his hands bound with white straps and was making strange noises as he rolled on the floor. Meanwhile, Rosalie was sitting calmly in a chair, her attire still intact.
