Chapter 601
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
The Bumblebee was not the one Wilma bought for her. Yet, looking at the same model would remind Rosalie of what happened back then and every moment she had with Wilma.
âGranny will always be dear to my heart,â Rosalie thought.
The feeling of bitterness that crept into Calvinâs heart was profound as he looked at Rosalieâs smile.
Inwardly, he remarked, âHer feelings for Lucas⦠No. I donât think she has any feelings for that man.
Heâs just her former colleague, I suppose.â
âBut why⦠Why do I still canât help but overthink about it? I seem to be afraid that the man will hold a special place in her heart,â Calvin continued to muse.
Meanwhile, Fiona secretly observed the happenings in the ward. A calculating glint flashed across her eyes at that.
After leaving Calvinâs ward, Rosalie went to Aidenâs. Lucas was also in Aidenâs ward. The former was playing with Aiden at the moment.
Sure enough, Aiden liked the Transformers very much. He had been playing with them all that while.
âOh, right. When will Aiden be discharged?â-Rosalie asked Amelia, who was at the side.
âThe day after tomorrow. If everything is all right, he can be discharged from the hospital at noon,â
Amelia replied. âThen, Iâll come along at noon the day after tomorrow to pick Aiden up from the hospital,â said Rosalie.
âBut itâs a working day. Itâll be inconvenient for you to pick him up,â Amelia said.
âOur firm has a two-hour break at noon. Itâs quite convenient for me to come by bus. I can help out if needed,â Rosalie replied.
âIâll come to pick Aiden up, too,â said Lucas. âI have a car. It will be more convenient if there are many things to carry. The day after tomorrow, I can pick Rosalie up at noon. Then, we can come to the hospital together.â
With that, Amelia did not refuse the duoâs kindness anymore. Gratefully, Amelia uttered, âIn that case, thank you.â
After a while, Rosalie was about to go back. Hence, Lucas suggested, âLet me drive you home.â Out of worry that Rosalie would reject him, Lucas added, âItâs just so happened that Iâm going the same way.â
âWell⦠Thank you.â Rosalie smiled.
With that, Lucas drove Rosalie back to her rental home. On the way, Lucas suddenly said, âI⦠I plan to go on a blind date.â Rosalie was stunned. âAre you going on a blind date?â
âYes. My relative introduced her to me. Sheâs 28 years old, specializing in finance,â Lucas responded.
âI hope it works out for you!â Rosalie wished him sincerely.
A look of disappointment crossed Lucasâ eyes as he heard Rosalieâs response. He was trying to gauge her interest for one last time. If Rosalie hesitated, he would make another attempt to win her heart.
Nevertheless, she gave him her blessing without the slightest hint of hesitation.
Smiling, Lucas uttered, âOkay. I hope it works out for me.â Deep down, he told himself that he must work hard to let go of his feelings for her.
Even if they could not be lovers, he hoped they could be friends.
When the car arrived at the entrance of the residential area of Rosalieâs rental home, she got out of the car and headed inside.
Looking at her back, Lucas suddenly unfastened his seat belt and got out of the car. He dashed forward and caught up with her. âRosalie! I⦠I hope you can be happy!â
Lucasâ face was slightly reddened when he said that. It was as if he had mustered up all his courage. âI wonât be the one to give you happiness, but I hope you, the women Iâve liked before, can be happy.â
Rosalie looked at the man in front of her in a daze. At that moment, she felt a surge of warmth in her heart.
âThank you. You⦠are indeed a good person.â Rosalie had always felt that his simplicity, warmth, and kindness toward people were so precious.
âA good person⦠Iâm a good person, but Iâm not someone sheâll like.â Lucas sighed silently at the thought.
âIâ¦â After a pause, Lucasâ face turned redder. He seemed to be hesitating and struggling.
âWhatâs wrong? If you have anything else to say, you can just tell me,â Rosalie urged.
âI⦠Can I hug you for a while? Just a short while. Consider it as bidding farewell to my feelingsâ¦â
Smiling bitterly, Lucas continued, âInitially, I wanted to say that. But on second thought, youâve never loved me before. My love has always been unrequited. It even caused you trouble. So, it seems overboard for me to make such a request-â
Before Lucas could finish his words, Rosalie had already stepped forward and hugged Lucas on her initiative.
Lucas was utterly stunned. His face instantly flushed red like a tomato.
âLucas, youâre a great person. I think itâs my loss for not falling in love with you. Iâm sure youâll meet someone who really loves you! I, too, want you to be happy, just as you want me to be happy.â
Lucas looked down at the woman embracing him. It was the first time the woman he loved had initiated a hug. It was all to fulfill his wish so that he had no regrets.
Even though sometimes Rosalie looked cold and indifferent, Lucas had already long known she was kind. Otherwise, he would not have fallen in love with her so much.
At that moment, Lucas and Rosalie did not notice someone not far away was hiding in the dark corner.
The person was taking pictures of them with a phone.
The next day, Calvin returned to the ward after the checkup. He saw Fiona was tidying something in a panic. As she accidentally dropped the things from her hands, they scattered around the floor.
Fiona quickly squatted down, wanting to pick them up. It was as if she refused to let Calvin see it.
However, Calvin had already seen what those things on the ground were. It was a series of photos of Rosalie and Lucas hugging each other.
âGive me the photos,â Calvin said in a deep voice.
âCalvin, these photos⦠Donât look at them. I⦠Iâll get rid of these photos right away,â Fiona hurriedly said.
âGive it to me!â Calvinâs voice became colder.
Fiona had no option but to hand over the photos to Calvin. As Calvin looked at them, he thought, âThese were static pictures. Yet, the pictures were taken continuously. Evidently, it was Rosalie who had initiated the embrace with Lucas. Rosalie⦠There was no hint of reluctance on her expression.â
âLucas and her. Are they merely former colleagues? Iâve finally felt that Iâve gotten closer to her. But why in fact, I grow distant with her?â Calvin continued to muse.
Calvin looked unusually solemn as he fixed his gaze intently on the photos. He was full of jealousy.
âCalvin, these photos⦠Someone just came to the ward saying that you should see these yourself. I donât know who the person is. The person left before I could ask any questions. Therefore, I decided to take a look myself, worrying that something bad had happened. But I didnât expectâ¦â Fionaâs voice sounded into Calvinâs ear.
