Chapter 669
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
âAmelia, what happened? Why do you suddenly plan to give up Aidenâs custody?â Rosalie asked.
âThe chance of winning the lawsuit is small. Moreover⦠As you can see, Iâm managing a food cart now and canât make much money. More money will be needed to cover Aidenâs needs in the future. If he follows me, he wonât be able to enter a good school, and I donât have extra money for him to attend any extracurricular classes either. Even food and clothing I can provide him will only be the worst.â
âI can provide Aiden with those needs! You see. I like Aiden very much and treat him as my godson,â
Rosalie hurriedly said.
âThank you, Rosalie.â Amelia forced a smile. âYou already helped me a lot, but⦠I might accept your kindness if Aiden had no father. But since he has one, and his father can provide him a better life, Iâll just let him follow his father.â
âBut Amelia, are you willing to give Aidenâs custody to him?â Rosalie asked. Since she was pregnant, she could feel the blood connection between a child and its mother, not to mention Amelia had raised Aiden for four years.
âEven if Iâm reluctant, I have to do that. I only want to choose the best way for Aiden and hope he can understand my painstaking efforts in the future,â Amelia murmured.
âYou think thatâs the best way, but it may not be the way Aiden likes. Does Aiden know that he will live with Warren in the uture?â
âI havenât told Aiden yet. Iâll hand him to Warren in three months and plan to talk to him when the time comes.â Amelia wanted to spend the last three months with Aiden happily and requested, âRosalie, could you please keep this from Aiden?â
Ameliaâs eyes were filled with a begging look.
Rosalie said, âAmelia, thereâs no need for you to take this approach yet. I already told Jon to find the attending physician who performed an abortion for Irene after she fell off the stairs back then. As long as Irene was not pregnant with Warrenâs child at that time, I have the confidence to prove that you were framed.â
Yet, Ameliaâs expression remained unchanged after she said that. âIt doesnât matter anymore whether I was framed.â
11:250 âHow can it be doesnât matter? Amelia, do you want to live on that allegation for the rest of your life?â
Rosalie asked.
Amelia lowered her gaze and thought, âWill it be forever? Perhaps Iâm destined to bear that allegation in this life.â
âRosalie, thank you for everything you have done for me, but⦠Thatâs enough. I made the decision to give Aidenâs custody to Warren after thinking it through, not on impulse. Butâ¦â She paused before continuing with a hint of pleading in her tone, âIf Aiden needs your help in the future, I hope you can give him a hand.â
âOf course, I will help Aiden if he needs it, butâ¦â
No matter what Rosalie said, Amelia was still firm in her decision and did not mean to change it. Seeing that, Rosalie could only give up persuading her for the time being.
At night, Rosalie kept thinking about Ameliaâs words and could not fall asleep.
âWhatâs the matter? You canât sleep?â Jonathan, who was lying beside her, asked.
-âDid I wake you up?â said Rosalie.
âNo,â Jonathan replied. In truth, he would wait for her to fall asleep every day before he drifted off to sleep. âAre you thinking about Amelia?â âYeah,â she answered. âWhat do you think about Amelia suddenly change her mind and stop fighting for Aidenâs custody?â
âMaybe itâs just like what she said. Giving Aidenâs custody to Warren will be the best choice for Aiden,â
Jonathan said.
Rosalie heaved a sigh upon hearing that. âAnyway, youâd better continue to find that attending physician for me. Maybe Warren will be willing to give Aidenâs custody to Amelia after we have found the doctor and unraveled the truth. Everyone will be delighted then.â
âNo problem. You should rest early, and donât think too much,â Jonathan replied.
âWell⦠Iâm a little hungry,â Rosalie suddenly said.
âLet me ask someone to make some food for you.â Jonathan got up as he spoke.
âNo need. Itâs already late. Itâs not good to wake them up to make some food, and⦠I feel like eating fruit soup now. Iâll go to the kitchen and make it myself,â Rosalie said.
11:25 âIâll make it for you,â Jonathan suggested.
âYou?â Rosalie was stunned by his words.
âItâs just a fruit soup and doesnât take a long time,â he said.
In the end, Rosalie left the bedroom with Jonathan and went to the kitchen.
Rosalie sat on the chair at the kitchen bar counter and watched Jonathan take out the fruit from the refrigerator, peel it, cut it into pieces, and then start to prepare soup. A smile crept on her face.
The man before her seemed to carry more flavor of life. It was as if the distance between him and her was slowly closing, which was different from that feeling of him being high and mighty.
Rosalie held her chin with both hands and silently stared at Jonathan, who was busy cooking. She liked such a peaceful and heartwarming life very much.
Soon, the fruit soup was ready. Jonathan brought a bowl of it to Rosalie and reminded her, âBe careful of burns. Itâs still hot. Let it get cold first before you dig in.â
âGot it.â Rosalie slowly stirred the soup with a spoon to cool it off faster before suddenly asking, âBy the way, Jon, what do you want for your birthday?â
Jonathanâs body suddenly stiffened. He mused, âMy birthday? Oh yeah, my birthday is around the corner, but⦠She had a worse birthday celebration last time.â
At the mention of the birthday, what came into his mind was the scene. he broke up with her during her birthday last time.
If he hadnât proposed a breakup back then, both of them wouldnât have had to experience those twists and turns, let alone have a heavy mood every time he thought of it.
Rosalie, who was lowering her head, looked up at Jonathan after sensing his silence. âWhatâs wrong?â
He hesitated for a moment before parting his lips. âYou donât need to prepare anything for my birthday.
Just a simple celebration will do.â âEven if itâs a simple celebration, I still have to prepare a gift. Tell me what you like. Iâll try my best to get it for you,â she said.
Jonathanâs eyelashes quivered slightly/ âI⦠donât need any gifts. You can stay with me like this is already the best gift for me!â
11:25 âOh, no. Do you mind celebrating your birthday now because of what happened on my birthday before?â Rosalie guessed.
He pursed his lips and did not respond. From that, she could tell her guess was correct.
âJon, itâs true that my birthday was sucked back then. However, those past were the things that led to what we have today. Maybe itâs because of the loss earlier that we cherish each other more now,â
Rosalie said calmly.
