Chapter 695
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
âIs that so? Then sheâs lucky,â Callum remarked casually.
âYeah, sheâs indeed lucky. She was discovered immediately and taken to the hospital. But maybe her luck has run out. She received several critical condition notices from the doctors, and just recently regained consciousness. However, yesterday, the doctor issued another critical condition notice. Itâs likely that even if she doesnât die, she might be in a vegetative state for the rest of her life,â Jonathan said nonchalantly as if he were discussing mundane news.
Callumâs expression changed as he stood up abruptly. âHow could this happen?â
âWhy wouldnât it happen?â Jonathan smiled faintly. âAfter all, the news about the White family and the Tall familyâs upcoming marriage of convenience has spread all over the internet. Everyone could have seen it, including Lillian. Mr. White, it seems that youâre quite concerned about Lillianâs safety, huh?â
Callum seemed to realize that he had reacted too strongly earlier, and he remained silent for a moment.. stared at Jonathan and didnât speak for a moment.
At this moment, Madeline furrowed her brow slightly, showing signs of displeasure. Parting her lips, she said, âCallum, whatâs wrong with you?â Callum pursed his lips and sat back down. âNothing.â
Jonathan continued, âOf course, if youâre interested, Mr. White, you can also go to the hospital to visit Lillian. Maybe you can even see her one last time.â
This remark darkened Callumâs expression even further!
Rosalie knew that Jonathan was trying to provoke Callum into revealing his true feelings toward Lillian.
It seemed that Callum still cared about Lillian. At least, he was concerned about her health.
âBut why had Callum initially acted so indifferent?â Rosalie couldnât help but wonder.
âI donât think thatâs necessary,â Madeline interjected. âI know about Lillian. She used to be Callumâs girlfriend, but now heâs with me. So, I think itâs better to avoid meeting her.â
10:15 Madeline turned to Callum and asked, âAm I right, Callum?â
Callum tightly pursed his thin lips, and his deep gaze seemed to be covered by a layer of darkness, making it impossible for anyone to see what he was really thinking.
Just then, Rosalieâs phone suddenly rang. She answered the call, and from the other end of the line, she heard Abigail sobbing, âRosalie, Lillian⦠Lillian found out about the White family and the Tall familyâs marriage of convenience. Sheâs been very agitated. What should we do? Iâm afraid her condition will worsen if this goes on!â
Rosalie was taken aback, and she too felt a sudden panic. Jonathan was originally intended as a way to make Callum reveal his true feelings unexpectedly leading to Lillian finding out about the news. How could this happen?
âMrs. Quinn, please donât worry. How is Lillian doing right now?â Rosalie asked, her own worry evident.
But when she said this, Callumâs expression suddenly changed, and he gazed at Rosalie intently.
Everyone could see how nervous he was.
âLillianâ¦â
âMom, let me talk to Rosalieâ¦â Lillianâs voice came weakly from the phone.
In these days, as her condition gradually improved, Lillian had been transferred from the ICU to a regular ward. Unfortunately, her body hadnât fully recovered when this situation arose.
Perhaps due to Lillianâs persistence, Abigail reluctantly held the phone to her ear.
Rosalie could only hear her friendâs voice, each word painstakingly spoken. âRosalie, I want to see Callum. Can you help me find him and contact him? Tell him I want to see him. No matter what, I trust himâ¦â
Tears welled up in Rosalieâs eyes.
She didnât know how to respond to Lillianâs words. Lillian believed in Callum, but he was now with another woman, and the final outcome might not be what Lillian hoped for.
Rosalieâs tears prompted an urgent reaction from Callum. âHow is Lillian? Is something wrong with her?â he asked anxiously.
Rosalie cleared her throat but hadnât had a chance to speak when Callum snatched the phone from her hand. Anxiously, he shouted into the 10:15 phone at the other end, âWhatâs happening to Lillian?â
âCallumâ¦â A word came from the other end of the phone. Callum stiffened.
It was Lillianâs voice!
His lips trembled slightly and moved as if he wanted to say something, but it seemed his voice was stuck in his throat, and he couldnât speak a word.
Lillianâs sound appeared. âC-Callum, I⦠want to see you. No matter⦠whatâs going on, I⦠just want to hear you⦠say it to me in person⦠If you donât come⦠to see me, Iâll stop eating and drinking. Iâllâ¦
wait until you comeâ¦â
Callumâs heart sank.
He knew her temperament. She sometimes liked to be coquettish and play tricks, and could get quite crazy when she was being a groupie. She had also lied more than once in front of him; he even used to playfully call her a liar.
However, once she made up her mind, she would definitely do it.
Callum held the phone tightly as he thought, âHow could she do this? How could she threaten me with her life? Are my words that important?â
After a long time, he finally said, âOkay.â
The call ended abruptly.
Rosalie looked at Callum anxiously and asked, âWhat did Lillian/say to you?â
âShe wants to see me, and I agreed,â Callum replied, his expression now composed. He handed the phone back to Rosalie. âWhich hospital is she in? Iâll go now.
âWhat are you going to say to her?â Rosalie asked.
âWhatever needs to be said,â Callum said.
âWhat exactly needs to be said?â Rosalie pressed.
Callum stared at Rosalie with a chilling look. âThis is between me and her. Itâs not your business. If you donât want to tell me the address, Iâll find it myself.â
With that, he turned to leave.
âWait!â Rosalie reached out to stop Callum.
Callum suddenly jerked his hand away, catching Rosalie off guard. She stumbled, and it seemed like she was about to fall, but Jonathan was quick to support her.
