Chapter 696
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
âAre you okay?â It was now Jonathan who grew anxious. When he saw Rosalie falling backward just now, he felt like all the blood in his body was about to freeze.
Rosalie was also shaken, her face turning pale.
She knew she had been too anxious just now. If she had really fallen, it would have put her three unborn children in danger.
âI-Iâm fine,â Rosalie said, finally catching her breath.
Jonathan helped Rosalie regain her balance, his gaze turning cold as he looked at Callum. âMr. White, please be mindful. If anything happens to my wife, I will make sure the White family disappears from Jacaster.â Callum replied expressionlessly, âIs that so? It seems that you have quite the reach â not only in Strico but also in Jacaster, Mr. Youngblood. If you have the ability to make the White family disappear, Mr. Youngblood, then give it a try.â
The situation was tense.
Rosalie tugged at Jonathan and said, âEnough, the most important thing right now is Lillianâs matter.â
She then turned to look at Callum and asked, âAre you determined to see Lillian today, no matter what?â
Callum remained silent, but his silence spoke volumes.
âI know I canât stop you, but my only request isâ¦â Rosalie glanced at Madeline, who stood beside Callum. âMs. Tall canât go to the hospital.â
âWhat if I insist on going?â Madeline raised her chin defiantly.
Jonathan sneered, âMy wife said you canât go, so you wonât set foot in that hospital.â
Madelineâs complexion changed. She hadnât forgotten that the man in front of her had extraordinary influence in Strico, which was not the Tall familyâs territory.
Callum turned to Madeline and said, âWait for me. Iâll go to the hospital and come back to you.â
Madeline smiled softly. She suddenly embraced Callumâs neck, kissed him on the lips, and said affectionately, âSure, Iâll wait for you. Just make sure you make things clear to your ex-girlfriend. Donât drag it out, or it 10:151 will be embarrassing for me.â
âOkay, I understand,â Callum replied, his voice slightly hoarse.
Rosalieâs face darkened as she wondered, âCallum didnât refuse Madelineâs kiss, which meant⦠Is Callum really planning to be with Madeline? What about Lillian, then?â
Rosalie walked out without saying a word, with Jonathan closely protecting her. As for Callum, he followed them.
When they reached the car outside, Rosalie confronted Callum. âI donât care what youâre going to say to Lillian, whether itâs to reconcile or break up, but I want to remind you of one thing. Lillian is someone you once loved. Donât push her to the brink. If something happens to her, I wonât let you off.â
Rosalie rarely threatened people like this, but for Lillianâs sake, she was willing to go all out.
She couldnât stop Callum from seeing Lillian, but she wanted Lillian to live and receive proper treatment.
Now that things had come to this point, they couldnât hide the truth from Lillian anymore.
She didnât know how Callumâs meeting with Lillian would affect her, but she hoped that Callum would consider their past relationship and wouldnât hurt Lillian that much.
âYou donât need to tell me what to do. Iâll handle my matters with Lillian myself,â Callum said coldly.
The three got in the car and went to the hospital.
Lillian had been transferred to a regular ward. She had a VIP single room with a comfortable environment and an extra bed for her companion. Usually, either Stephen or Abigail would stay overnight with her in the hospital.
At this moment, Lillian sat up quietly on her hospital bed. Her hospital gown had been carefully adjusted.
Her head was wrapped up in a bandage. Her once lovely and charming face now looked pale and exhausted after being in the hospital for days and undergoing two major surgeries.
Lillianâs parents Stephen and Abigail sat quietly beside her, knowing that she was stubborn.
Even if they said they would sever ties with her, as they did in the past 10:15 when she chose to save Rosalie and gave up the opportunity for further education, it wouldnât work.
Now that Lillian wanted to see Callum, she wouldnât give up until it happened.
Just then, the door was pushed open. Rosalie and Jonathan walked in first, followed by Callum.
Lillianâs eyes were fixed on Callum in an instant.
Her gaze immediately locked onto Callum. The nervousness and anxiety that had been present within her moments ago disappeared in an instant. He was standing in front of her safe and sound.
Taking a deep breath, Lillian said, âDad, Mom, Rosalie, Mr. Youngblood, could you please step out for a moment? I have something to discuss with Callum.â
Rosalie was worried that Callum might say something hurtful to her friend, and for a moment, she hesitated about leaving the room.
In the end, it was Jonathan who said to Rosalie, âLetâs go out first. I believe Mr. White will handle this properly.â
âRosalie, donât worry,â Lillian added.
Rosalie and Jonathan left the ward. Stephen and Abigail followed suit hesitantly, leaving the ward.
Rosalie looked at Jonathan and said, âWill it really be okay? If Callum really said something heartless, then Lillian got provokedâ¦â
She couldnât imagine it.
Stephen and Abigail quickly asked, âIs Callum with someone else as the news claimed? Did he come here to reveal the truth and break up with Lillian?â
After all, Lillian was seriously injured now, and it was uncertain whether there would be any long-term consequences. Callum was the heir of the White family, and his future seemed boundless.
Naturally, their thoughts tended to lean toward the idea that Callum might be rejecting Lillian.
âIâm not very sure either. Perhaps weâll have answers once theyâve talked,â Rosalie said with a solemn expression on her face.
Lillianâs parents Stephen and Abigail could only wait anxiously.
Jonathan held Rosalieâs hand and reassured her, âWhat youâre afraid of 10:14 probably wonât happen. Callum will handle this with discretion. At the very least, he shouldnât want anything bad to happen to Lillian. In fact, you could say heâs afraid of that.â
âHow can you be sure?â Rosalie said.
âIf he truly didnât care about Lillian, he wouldnât have shown that panicked expression when he heard me say that Lillian was unconscious and might become a vegetable,â Jonathan replied.
As fellow men, they naturally understood that someone like Callum, with a reserved and dark personality, would only lose his composure if he cared deeply about someone.
