Chapter 699
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
Amelia gently closed her eyes. âSo, if thatâs the case, I donât regret meeting Warren in this lifetime.
Perhaps itâs fate. I just hope that in my next life, I wonât have to encounter him again.â
Rosalie pressed her lips. Even though Amelia had come to terms with her fate, Rosalie couldnât.
She had to find a way to keep Amelia alive!
After leaving the hospital, Rosalie made her way to Youngblood Group.
Both the front desk staff and security recognized her, still remembering Rosalieâs previous visit when she insisted on seeing Jonathan at the entrance.
Furthermore, they had previously questioned whether Jonathan would actually meet her, but he had ultimately directed Carlos to escort her to the CEOâs office.
As a result, this time, they were uncertain about whether to allow her access, finding themselves in a quandary.
As Rosalie contemplated calling Jonathan to explain the situation, she noticed Carlos passing by not far away. She quickly called out, âMr. Gibson!â
Carlos, upon spotting Rosalie, swiftly approached her. âMrs. Youngblood, what brings you here?â
This address immediately startled both the front desk staff and the people accompanying Carlos.
âIâm here to find Jon, but I forgot to call and inform him before coming,â Rosalie explained.
âMr. Youngblood is currently in a meeting. Would you like me to escort you to Mr. Youngbloodâs office to wait?â Carlos suggested respectfully.
RosalÃe nodded, and Carlos issued a few instructions to those nearby before accompanying Rosalie into the elevator. Carlos even personally pressed the elevator button for her.
of Within Youngblood Group, although Carlos held the position of a personal assistant and not a high-
ranking executive, his years dedicated service by Jonathanâs side had earned him immense respect from many high-ranking individuals.
10.10 Carlos had never shown such respect to a woman before.
The way Carlos addressed Rosalie as âMrs. Youngbloodâ and Rosalieâs mention of âJonâ raised growing suspicion among those present.
They exchanged puzzled glances, and a certain possibility began to take shape in their minds. The disbelief on their faces became even more pronounced.
They couldnât help but wonder if âJonâ indeed referred to Jonathan, especially when it seemed that Carlos was escorting Rosalie to meet Jonathan just moments ago!
âWell⦠um, it appears that Mrs. Youngblood might be pregnant,â someone suddenly commented.
It was at that moment that everyone recalled Rosalie, with her slender figure, did indeed have a subtle bump in her belly, although it wasnât very noticeable.
They couldnât help but continue to speculate whether Rosalie was indeed pregnant and whether the child might belong to Jonathan.
If that turned out to be true, it could potentially become a news that sent -shockwaves throughout the entire city!
Following Carlos, Rosalie arrived at the CEOâs office. She had visited this place several times before and felt comfortable without the need for Carlos to accompany her.
âYou can go. Iâll wait here,â Rosalie said.
âSure thing. If you need anything, you can ask the secretary outside at any time,â Carlos replied before exiting the room.
In the spacious office, Rosalie was the sole occupant.
She looked around, and at this moment, she was completely different from her last visit.
Back then, she had come to plead for Jonathanâs help due to Lillianâs illness, and her heart had been filled with despair.
However, now, standing here, Rosalie felt like a completely different person.
Rosalie approached Jonathanâs desk, cluttered with numerous files, imagining how busy he must be spending most of his time here. Suddenly, her eyes fixed on one of the files on the desk. The cover of the file bore the words âHamilton Jade Gardens.â
10:161 Rosalie recalled Hamilton Jade Gardens as a property owned by the Hamilton family, marking their significant venture into real estate in recent years. There were widespread rumors that they had invested billions in the initial land acquisition. Over the past two years, the Hamilton family had been aggressively marketing and promoting this project, leaving no doubt about its pivotal position in their portfolio. âBut now⦠why is this file on Jonâs desk?â Rosalie wondered.
As Rosalie mulled over the unexpected discovery, the office door suddenly swung open. Startled, she inadvertently knocked a file folder onto the floor, scattering its contents.
As Rosalie gazed at what had spilled out, she found herself frozen in shock. It was a stack of photographs, and the subject of these photos was none other than Melanie, Jonathanâs late fiancée and the eldest daughter of the Hamilton family!
Rosalie couldnât help but wonder why these photos were on his desk.
Melanie, the woman who had come close to marrying Jonathan but tragically lost her life in a car accident. It left Rosalie wondering whether she would have ever crossed paths with Jonathan if not for that tragic incident.
Undoubtedly, that car accident had altered the destinies of many individuals.
Lost in her thoughts, Rosalie watched as a hand reached down to gather the scattered photos from the ground, and later realized that it was Jonathanâs hand!
Rosalie stared blankly as Jonathan bent down to pick up each of the scattered photos on the ground along with the file folder.
âIâ¦â Her throat suddenly felt dry. âI went to visit Lillian in the hospital, and since itâs still early, I decided to stop by and see you.â
âHowâs Lillian doing?â he asked.
âSheâs doing surprisingly well⦠much better than I expected. Sheâs actively cooperating with her treatment,â Rosalie replied, her gaze fixed on Jonathan as he casually organized the photos back into the file folder. Unable to contain her curiosity, she finally spoke up. âThese photosâ¦â âDo they bother you?â Jonathan asked.
âWhy do you have pictures of Melanie here?â Rosalie asked.
âBother me? Well, I must admit, it does stir up some feelings. After all, 10:161 Melanie had come very close to becoming Jonathanâs wife, but Melanie is no longer with us. While I know that Jonathanâs heart now belongs to me, but⦠with these photos suddenly appearing on his desk, I canât help but wonder if, deep down, he still misses Melanie,â Rosalie mused.
âThey were sent by the Hamilton family. Iâll arrange to have the photos returned to them,â Jonathan replied.
âWhy would the Hamilton family suddenly send pictures of Melanie?â Rosalie asked, her confusion growing. After all, Melanie was no longer alive!
Jonathan gave her a half-smile and said, âPerhaps as a reminder not to forget about her!â
As he spoke, a fleeting glint of coldness passed through his eyes.
For a moment, Rosalie looked at the man before her with a sense of astonishment, feeling as if he now carried an air of danger she hadnât sensed before.
It was as though he had detected her scrutiny, and in an instant, Jonathan returned to his usual warm demeanor, the one she was accustomed to when they were together.
âAll right, donât dwell on it too much. Thereâs nothing between Melanie and me. My engagement to her as my fiancée at that time was merely because Grandpa believed she was a good fit for the Youngblood family,â he assured her, gently taking her hand.
Rosalie offered a faint smile. âI donât mind at all. After all, thatâs all in the past. Besides, I also had a boyfriend back then.â
