Chapter 704
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
At that time, he didnât even dare to take a closer look. He just felt as if he had betrayed something.
But what did he betray? He and Irene were about to get married. Even if they really had sex, it was nothing.
What was more, before Amelia was imprisoned, he and Irene had slept in the same bed together before. But later, after Amelia went to prison, he somehow became more used to falling asleep alone.
Even though he was in a relationship with Irene and had even talked about getting married, it seemed that once he did some intimate things with Irene, he would feel guilty.
Even he couldnât explain why.
He wondered, âIs it because of Amelia? But how could she affect me like this? Since I was able to testify against her in court, it means that I donât love her at all!â âHow could this have happened? My poor child!â Ivy had already moved to sprawl beside Irene and was wailing. âWhy is that Amelia so cruel? Is it not enough that she hurt you once, but now a second time? Two children! Thatâs two lives!â
âMom, please⦠Stop itâ¦â Ireneâs face was already pale after the operation, but with tears now streaming down her cheeks, she looked even more pitiful.
âYou had a miscarriage last time, and that made it so it isnât easy for you to get pregnant again. Now you finally got pregnant, but Amelia caused you to lose the baby once more! She did it on purpose!
Sheâs afraid that your pregnancy would affect her own sonâs future inheritance of the York family assets, and thatâs why she hurt you!â
Warren shook his head slightly and said in disbelief, âAmelia⦠also knew about Ireneâs pregnancy?â
âIrene said to Aiden⦠It wouldnât be long before she gave him a younger brother or sister. Irene is kind-
hearted, so she brought Aiden to see us today in hopes that we would treat the two children equally in the future. Who knew Amelia would deliberately push herâ¦â
Ivy cursed Amelia hatefully, seeming as though she wanted nothing more than to rip the latter apart.
With an anguished expression, Thomas said, âWarren, Irene has endured much for you. Back then, Amelia made her lose her baby and hurt her body. It hadnât been easy for her to finally get pregnant again, but now sheâs had another miscarriage. Iâm afraid it would be impossible for her to have children again in the future. Amelia killed two children, the descendants of both the Fletcher family and the York family. We canât just let it go.â
Warrenâs face darkened. His eyes fell on Irene, who was still crying and blaming 09:53 herself, while Thomasâ voice continued to sound in his ears.
âIrene has treated you very well all this while. You canât let Amelia go just because she is Aidenâs biological mother!â
âI know. I will give Irene an explanation on this matter no matter what,â Warren said in a deep voice.
Irene was the woman he had sworn to protect all his life!
Back then, despite being a stranger, she chose to donate her bone marrow for him and save his life.
That was the only reason he survived and could have the chance to rebuild the York family.
If it werenât for Irene, he wouldnât have lived till this day.
But now, Irene was repeatedly hurt because of Amelia.
It was because he had been too kind to Amelia that Irene got hurt. If he had only been more ruthless to Amelia back then, the events of today wouldnât have happened.
The next day was the weekend, so Aiden didnât need to go to kindergarten. Amelia said to her mother, âMom, Iâm bringing Aiden to play in the small park nearby.â âDonât you want to sleep for a little while longer and get more rest?â Matilda questioned. On weekends, she was the one who usually took her grandson to play in the park nearby in the morning because Amelia had to set up her food cart at night.
âNo need. I want to spend more time with Aiden,â Amelia said. Every minute was very precious to her now.
Matilda sighed. âOkay. Iâll stay home to make lunch and wait for you. Later, I will cook some dishes that you like.â
âOkay.â Amelia smiled faintly and then took her son out of the house.
Many parents would take their children to the park near their residential area on weekends.
Usually, Aiden would play with other children here. But today, when he arrived at the park, he didnât play with those children of his age but stood beside Amelia, looking worried.
âWhatâs the matter? Arenât you going to play?â Amelia asked curiously.
The little boy hesitated for a while and finally said, âMommy⦠Youâre not a bad guy, are you?â Clearly, what happened in the private room yesterday had affected him greatly.
Amelia knew that although her son was only four years old, he could actually understand most of what the adults were saying.
She squatted down and said, âNo, Iâm not a bad guy.â
Her eyes focused on her sonâs childish face. Aiden actually looked like Warren, but his eyes resembled hers, especially when he smiled.
09:53 However, she had rarely smiled because of the hardships in her life over the past few years. Thus, she hoped that her son could laugh and smile more in the future and not bear huge psychological burdens because of her.
goes to âAiden, remember this. I have never hurt anyone before. I have gone to jail previously, but that doesnât mean that Iâm a bad person. Not everyone who jail is a bad person, as there are cases where the person was wrongly accused. Rosalie is a lawyer, which means her job is to ensure that people who were wronged will no longer be punished for what they didnât do. She makes sure the law will give them justice.â
Aiden blinked and said, âWell⦠Will Rosalie stop you from being falsely wronged, Mommy?â
Amelia said softly, âRosalie has been trying to help me, but I was wronged a long time ago, and the evidence is so hard to find. Besides, I donât care so much about all that anymore. I only hope you can live a good life and grow up happily, Aiden.â âThen when I grow up, I will become a lawyer! âIâll be sure to protect you from being wronged, Mommy!â the little boy declared solemnly.
Amelia was both happy and sad to hear that, as she likely couldnât see the day her son grew up!
But taking in the serious look in Aidenâs eyes, she still replied, âOkay. I will wait for you to grow up so I wonât be wronged any longer.â
Hearing that, Aiden smiled and finally started to play with his friends.
Amelia looked at her son, who was having fun with the other children. She took out her phone and took photos of him playing. After that, she opened the album again and flipped back one by one to see whether she was satisfied with the photos.
Suddenly, her fingers stopped. The picture on the phone was not from her recent bout of photo-taking but the photo of her, Aiden, and Warren playing in the amusement park. She had downloaded it from the park app last time.
