Chapter 76
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
He wanted to find a more suitable opportunity to tell her.
However, what happened now⦠was probably the worst way.
He thought, I was careless not to notice that she was standing behind me, but I didnât mention my identity in my conversation with Alan. However, Rosalie did mention my name.
In other words, Rosalie has already known my identity before seeing me. Who has told her?â
Jonathan suddenly opened his eyes and said to Carlos, âCheck Rosieâs phone and see who has spoken to her on the phone recently!â
âYes,â Carlos answered immediately.
Carlos got the results shortly after. He reported, âMr. Youngblood, Ms. Leightonâs last call today was at 6:35 p.m., and the owner of the phone number is Lillian Quinn.â
âLillian Quinnâ¦â Jonathan thought as he narrowed his eyes slightly. He remembered the woman to be Rosalieâs best friend.
âFind out who Lillian has met today!â
âYes,â Carlos answered.
The car arrived at the entrance of the hospital where Leonard was staying Jonathan and Carlos got out of the car. When they arrived at the ward door. Jonathan looked at the bodyguard and asked, âHas Mr. Youngblood gone to bed?â
âNot yet,â the bodyguard replied respectfully.
Jonathan ordered Carlos, âWait outside.â He pushed open the ward door and walked in after saying that.
Leonard sat on the hospital bed, flipping through a photo album.
Jonathan recognized the photo album, filled with pictures of his father from childhood to adulthood.
Despite Leonardâs frequent complaints about his fatherâs incompetence, the same father had once been Leonardâs source of pride and the person he valued the most.
âAs for meâ¦â Jonathan sneered as he thought of it. Leonard probably wanted to get rid of the blood and genes Jonathan inherited from his âTher.
Since childhood, Leonard had been particularly repelled by his own eyes due to their striking resemblance to his motherâs. During that time, there was a phase when Leonard wouldnât even allow Jonathan to gaze at him, as the similarity of those eyes to their motherâs disgusted him.
Jonathan pulled a chair over and sat in front of Leonard without saying anything. He just looked at Leonard quietly, and neither of them said anything.
Finally, when Leonard finished looking through the photo album in his hand, he looked up at Jonathan sitting before him. Jonathan sat in a relaxed manner, exuding an air of elegance even in his casual pose: With his handsome looks, decisive demeanor, and keen astuteness, he had significantly propelled the growth of Youngblood Group after taking over. Leonard knew his grandson was more outstanding than his own son. However, the mere thought of Jonathanâs motherâs blood flowing within Jonathanâs veins disgusted him.
However, Jonathan was the only bloodline left by his son.
âIâve checked. The womanâs name is Rosalie Leighton. She used to be Zachary Xanthosâ girlfriend. And she killed Melanie Hamilton in a car accident three years ago, right?â Leonard said coldly.
âYes,â Jonathan replied with a slight smile.
âSheâs an ex-convict and currently works as a sanitary worker. Are you planning to be with her and put the Youngblood -family in the headlines?*
âSo what if I am? I can make her comparable with any socialite in the city!â Jonathan exclaimed.
âDonât forget how your father died!â Leonard said through gritted teeth.
Jonathanâs eyes darkened. âI havenât forgotten that. It doesnât mean Iâm willing to surrender my life to her, even if I choose to be with her. Iâm not my father. I wonât die for a woman, let alone allow myself to be controlled by one.
He had always been the one in control.
Leonard snorted coldly and said, âDid you come here just to say that?â
Jonathan replied, âNo. I want you to leave her alone.â
10:071 Leonard narrowed his eyes and said with a stern expression, âWhatâs that supposed to mean? Are you threatening your grandfather? Am I less important than a woman?â
âGrandpa, Iâm just telling you. Itâs not a threat.â
Jonathan chuckled and said. âIâm telling you. Donât touch her. No matter what happens between me and her, donât touch her. Of course, I donât know how I will react if you touch her. Why donât you give it a try?â
Leonardâs face changed slightly. He was scared for a moment.
Jonathan was the heir he had raised. He grew up just as he had expected and even better. However, he had also become increasingly out of control.
âWhat do you like about Rosalie? Leonard could not help but ask. There were so many socialites in Strico. Many were beautiful, intelligent, talented, and came from innocent family backgrounds. Yet, amidst all these options. Jonathan was drawn to a woman with a prior prison record.
âMaybe because sheâs too gullible,â Jonathan murmured.
She was gullible enough to take him back to her rental home and treat a stranger so wholeheartedly.
She was so naive that he felt sorry for her.
This woman had been imprisoned for three years and had not learned her lesson.
However, this woman also said his eyes were beautiful and clear. There was no disgust like his grandfather or fascination like other women. All she had was appreciation and protection.
She said she wanted to protect the clarity in his eyes.
She had no idea that no one had ever described his eyes as clear. Many people perceived him as an executioner who would do whatever it took to achieve his goal.
How could someone like him have clear eyes?
âOkay, Grandpa. Iâll stop disturbing you.â Jonathan smiled and left the ward.
Leonard looked at the open and closed ward door with a complicated expression. He looked as if he was lost in thought. When Jonathan returned to Rosalieâs ward, she had already fallen asleep. He walked to the bedside and didnât turn on the light. Instead, he looked at her sleeping face in the moonlight through the window.
Tear stains were evident on her face. He gently raised his hand and caressed her cheek.
He thought, âDid she cry after I left?
How many tears did she shed? Sheâs never been one to cry easily. Sheâs so quiet, almost submissive, whenever she faces me. Yet, she sheds tears in secret.
What was she crying about? Did she cry because I lied to her? Or did she cry because Iâm Jonathan Youngblood? Or maybeâ¦â. Jonathan murmured, âRosie⦠Since youâve made me fall in love with you, you should stay by my side, shouldnât you?â
