Chapter 773
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
Rosalie couldnât help but blush as she recollected her bold actions in the car earlier.
Truth be told, she never anticipated behaving that way. It was as if everything had felt so natural after meeting with Jonathan.
However, she had entirely forgotten that there was a group of people waiting outside the car!
Consequently, when she stepped out of the car to bring Jennifer with her, the expressions on those peopleâs faces carried a hint of suggestive curiosity, clearly speculating about what had transpired inside the vehicle.
Jennifer was quite straightforward. She immediately asked, âMommy, why were you and Daddy in the car for so long? Were you telling Daddy stories?â
Rosalie was so taken aback that she nearly choked on her saliva. Whenever Jennifer used to feel upset, Rosalie would tell her stories to divert her attention, and it had become a habit.
Jennifer probably figured that Jonathan was tearing up from sorrow, so Rosalie went to tell him stories to cheer him up.
âYes⦠um⦠I was just telling Daddy some stories,â Rosalie replied awkwardly. Upon Rosalieâs words, the people around her began to cast even more suggestive glances her way.
Now, as Rosalie returned to the Youngblood residence, the former housekeepers who had served her before were all taken aback at the sight of her. The butler, Gary, was particularly overwhelmed, stumbling over his words. âMrs. Youngblood, youâre alive⦠youâre truly alive! This is wonderful, youâre not dead, youâre not dead!â
âYes, Gary, I am still alive,â Rosalie replied. âIâm sorry, I promised you back then that I wouldnât leave Jon, but I stillâ¦â
âBeing alive is what truly matters, being alive is all that matters!â Gary said, his eyes welling up with tears.
Jonathan headed straight upstairs upon returning to the Youngblood residence. Meanwhile, facing the butler and the one who had accompanied her back to the Youngblood residence, Carlos, Rosalie asked, âJon keeps mentioning that I left him back then. What exactly happened?â
As Rosalie spoke, both Gary and Carlos widened their eyes and stared at her in astonishment. âYou donât remember?â
âWell, I⦠I had amnesia for quite a while. It was only in the past two years that I gradually started recalling some things from the past. And just a week ago, I finally remembered Jon, so I returned to Strico,â Rosalie explained her situation briefly. âThe most recent memory I recovered was spending New Yearâs Eve with Jon, but afterward, I have no recollection.â
It was as if her memories had fragmented, just like when one had been drinking and couldnât remember certain parts.
Gary and Carlos exchanged helpless glances, and eventually, Carlos asked Rosalie, âYou lost your memory too?â
âWhat do you mean âtooâ?â Rosalie furrowed her brows. âDid Jonathanâ¦â
âYes, Mr. Youngblood lost his memory too. However, up to this point, he hasnât recalled anything on his own. Everything he knows about you, he learned from us later,â Carlos explained.
âBut, is it just a coincidence that we both lost our memories?â Rosalie couldnât help but find it unbelievable.
âMr. Youngblood losing his memory was not a coincidence,â Carlos explained. They were currently in the living room with only Carlos, Gary, and Rosalie present, which gave Carlos the confidence to speak openly.
After all, only a few people were privy to this matter.
âBack then, when you fell into the sea, Mr. Youngblood nearly went mad. Later, Mr. Wilmer brought a child and your ashes to Mr. Youngblood. Mr. Youngblood held your ashes and was tormented by grief.
If we hadnât made him forget you at that time, he might not have been able to continue living!â
Rosalie was astounded by Carlosâs words.
With a heavy heart, she couldnât help but ponder, âWhat kind of memories did I leave behind? Did Jonathan truly come close to losing his sanity at that time, to the point of being unable to move forward with his life?â
âWhat exactly happened? Why did I fall into the sea?â Rosalie asked anxiously. She desperately wanted to know the nature of the memories she had yet to recover. Carlos proceeded to explain in great detail the circumstances surrounding Rosalieâs fall into the sea, and then he continued, âDuring that period, when Mr. Youngblood was left holding your ashes, he appeared utterly lost and disconnected from reality. Ultimately, Mr. Wilmer suggested erasing Mr. Youngbloodâs memories of you as the only means for him to move forward and rebuild his life.â
âErase? How do you erase memories? Only the memories related to me?â
âUsing hypnosis,â Carlos explained. âAt that time, Mr. Wilmer found a skilled hypnotist who successfully erased the memories concerning you. However, occasionally, there are still some fragments of your past in Mr. Youngbloodâs mind. Itâs just that his feelings for you mightâ¦â
At this point, Carlos seemed somewhat apologetic as he cast a sympathetic glance toward Rosalie.
Despite Jonathanâs deep love for Rosalie in the past, the current amnesiac Jonathan probably no longer held the same sentiments.
11:32 Nevertheless, this was all theoretical.
Today, when Jonathan and Rosalie encountered each other, he surprisingly shed tears and even willingly offered Rosalie a ride in his car. These actions led Carlos to believe that, despite the memory loss, Jonathanâs feelings for Rosalie were still unique.
Rosalie took a deep breath, finally understanding why Jonathanâs attitude had been this way today.
âJon⦠Heâs forgotten everything about the love we once shared. But as long as heâs alive, thatâs what truly matters. Even if those memories are lost, it doesnât matter,â Rosalie whispered to herself.
âIf I fell into the sea back then, why did Jon believe I had left him?â Rosalie asked, her confusion evident.
Carlosâs expression grew even more uncomfortable. âWell⦠at that time, Mr. Wilmer believed it was best to avoid triggering any strong emotions in Mr. Youngblood, who had been hypnotized. If he were to learn about your fall into the sea, it might have been too emotionally overwhelming for him, potentially even driving him to madness. So, we told Mr. Youngblood that you left him directly after giving birth to your children because you had discovered the truth about the old case. However, you met with an unfortunate accident while leaving and tragically passed away.â
Rosalie pressed her lips together and thought, âSo thatâs what they told him! No wonder Jon had been behaving that way.â
In the days to come, it appeared that Rosalie had a lot to contend with. Nevertheless, even if Jonathan had forgotten her and misunderstood her, she was resolute in her determination to reignite his love for her while he remained unattached.
âBy the way, does Jon have someone heâs interested in now?â Rosalie asked.
âNo, absolutely not!â Carlos quickly stated. Over the past five years, even though Jonathan had forgotten about Rosalie and had no intention of committing to her, he had refrained from romantic entanglements, leading a celibate life.
âWhat about Ms. Sabatini? Online rumors are suggesting that Jon adopted Wrenna because of Ms.
Sabatini,â Rosalie asked.
