Chapter 815
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
âAdopted?â
âYes, the family is quite complicated. The manâs wife died, but he has a daughter. Later, he married another woman who gave birth to a son. Yet, he suddenly adopted another child. Donât you think itâs so strange that he already has both a son and a daughter, yet he still adopted an unrelated child?â Amelia said.
Many people around here knew about it. She had lived in this area for several years, so she naturally knew about it.
Rosalie felt sad again.
She thought, âIs that child not related to that family by blood? Then he must have it rough at that house.
Without his sisterâs protection, he likely would have been kicked out.
And where would he go if he was abandoned by that family? A welfare home? And then what? Wait for the next family to adopt him?â
However, Rosalie also knew that it was better to adopt a child when they were still young. The younger, the better. Unfortunately, this child was already at the age when he could remember things. Besides that, he didnât have a pleasant personality. It would be difficult to find a good family to adopt him.
âIâll go and check on the child.â Rosalie walked out of the concession stand and headed toward that tiny figure.
Even she didnât know why she cared so much about that child.
Perhaps it was because when she was in the amusement park before, the boyâs eyes and expression reminded her of the first time she saw Jonathan.
Rosalie walked up to the little boy and noticed that he was much the same as when she saw him in the amusement park before. There was no -expression on his beautiful face, and even his eyes were empty, just staring at the campus behind the iron gate blankly.
âZeki.â Rosalie squatted down and said to Zekiah, âAre you waiting here for your sister?â
The word âsisterâ seemed to finally rouse the little boy. He moved his eyes, looked at Rosalie, and then nodded.
âDo you like your sister very much?â she asked again.
10.14 The child nodded again.
Rosalie smiled. âI also like your sister. Sheâs incredibly protective of you.â âI like Sis,â Zekiah said with a little difficulty. His voice was childish but somewhat raspy, as if he normally didnât speak much.
Rosalie raised her hand and tried to touch the boyâs head, but he quickly dodged. A trace of wariness appeared on his expressionless face.
Despite his avoidance, Rosalie didnât seem displeased at all. She just said, âI like you very much. The other day, I saw you at the amusement park fighting with other children for your sister. After that, youâ¦
Well, did your parents blame you?â
She had picked her words after some careful thought. After all, although this child was adopted, that man and woman were technically his adoptive parents.
After that incident at the amusement park, Jonathan told her that he had dealt with the fight affairs of Zekiah and settled all the medical expenses of those injured boys, and the parents of those children had promised not to pursue the matter.
It was just that Rosalie didnât know whether Zekiahâs adoptive parents would still make things difficult for him afterward.
Zekiah ignored Rosalie and turned to the gate again to stare at the campus behind it.
Following that, parents here to pick up their children arrived one after another, and more and more people were at the school gate.
However, Rosalie remained at the school gate with the little boy until it was almost time to pick up Guillermo and Jennifer from kindergarten. It was only then she said, âZeki, Iâm going back. If there is a chance next time, I will come to see you again, okay?â
Zekiah ignored Rosalie as if he didnât hear her voice.
Rosalieâs eyes darkened. She felt an inexplicable pain in her heart, as if something that shouldnât have been cut off was forcibly done so.
Then, she laughed at herself.
She thought, âWhatâs wrong with me? This is just a child that I met once. Although my heart goes out to him for what heâs been through, thereâs no reason for me to feel pain because of his attitude toward me!â
Taking a moment to calm herself, she turned around and returned to Ameliaâs concession stand.
10:1 âWhatâs wrong? You seem to care about that child very much,â Amelia said as she had noticed Rosalie staying by the childâs side.
âI met him when I was at the amusement park previously. I guess I just feel sorry for him.â Rosalie said, âBut it seems that his sister is quite protective of him.â
âYeah, people who donât know would think they are biological brother and sister! Heâs quite attached to that sister of his.â Amelia said, âSometimes, she will bring him here to buy some snacks. Iâve only ever seen him smile at her.â
âI hope they can still have such a good relationship when they grow up.â Rosalie sighed. âIf you ever hear about them running into any trouble, just tell me.â
âDo you care so much about that child?â Amelia was a little confused. âIndeed, Iâm a little concerned and want to help as much as I can. Maybe I hope that if I help others like this, if there comes a day my lost child is in trouble, some kind-hearted person will help him too,â Rosalie said. Hearing that, Amelia sighed, finally understanding Rosalieâs behavior. âAnyway, I should go pick up Guille and Jen, so Iâll be leaving. See you next time,â Rosalie said.
âOkay,â Amelia replied with a smile.
After Rosalie left the concession stand, Amelia subconsciously looked at the place where Warrenâs car was parked. Her eyes darkened slightly. Then, she lowered her head and continued to weave the bracelet in her hands.
Meanwhile, in the car, Warren was looking at Amelia through the window. When Ameliaâs gaze swept toward him, his body stiffened, and it felt as though his blood was flowing in reverse.
However, her eyes quickly flashed away before she lowered her head.
Warren smiled bitterly. What was he expecting? Was he expecting her to stare at him longer?
It had been five years, and he didnât even know where to begin to make up for his mistakes. Sure, he had sent Irene to prison and reopened the case to return Amelia the dignity and innocence she deserved, but everything she had lost could never be restored, and the suffering she endured could not be erased.
There was a price to pay for everything in this world, but what he had to pay was just too heavy a price!
