Chapter 818
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
Jonathan was used to other people staring and wasnât bothered at all. He simply looked down and asked Rosalie, âWhat flavor do you want? Shall we order one of each?â
âOh, donât do that. Thatâs a waste.â Rosalie knew that even if he bought the whole cake shop, that amount of money was insignificant to him. Despite that, she still didnât want to waste money. âIâll choose dark chocolate. What about you?â
âAnything is fine.â In truth, he didnât really care about the cakes.
But since she wanted to eat, he would naturally be willing to do so with her.
Rosalie knew that Jonathan was not particularly fond of sweet things, so she chose a blueberry cake for him.
When the two slices of cake arrived, she used a small spoon to eat the dark chocolate cake first. The taste was indeed quite special, as the milky notes were stronger than the other dark chocolate cakes she had had in the past. The texture was thicker, too.
âItâs good. Would you like to try it?â Rosalie took a spoonful of the cake and raised it to Jonathanâs lips, her motions natural.
It was not until she finished doing this that she realized she was feeding him cake in public.
Although such actions were quite common between couples, the problem was that countless pairs of eyes were looking at them at the moment.
Rosalie was about to hand Jonathan the spoonful of cake, but he had already opened his lips to eat it.
âIt tastes good.â Jonathan smiled.
Rosalieâs face turned red while many young women began whispering.
âOh my God. That man just ate the cake fed by that woman!â
âThat man is so handsome. Is he a celebrity?â
âDo you think theyâre recording for a program? Is there an invisible camera next to them?â
Just then, a voice suddenly sounded. âRosalie!â
10:15 Rosalie followed the voice and saw Lillian, but there was a man standing next to her friend.
The man had delicate features, and with his glasses, he appeared scholarly. People would like him at first sight.
âWho is this?â Rosalie asked curiously.
âOh, this is my friend, Jerick Backman. Jerick, this is the best friend I mentioned before, Rosalie Leighton,â Lillian introduced.
âHello, Iâm Jerick.â Jerick politely reached out his hand.
âHello, Iâm Rosalie.â Rosalie moved to shake hands with Jerick, but Jonathan had already taken action.
Jonathan swiftly grabbed Jerickâs hand and uttered with a smile, âHello, Iâm Jonathan Youngblood, Rosalieâs husband.â
Rosalie wondered, âCould Jon have done that on purpose? Does he not like me shaking hands with Jerick?â
Because there was still some time left, they found a table in the corner of the cake shop and sat down together.
When Jerick and Lillian went to choose their cakes, Rosalie asked Jonathan, âDo you not like me shaking hands with other men?â
Jonathan raised his eyebrows slightly and admitted frankly, âYes.â
âItâs just normal social etiquette.â She said, âBesides, that man is a friend of Lillian.â
âI know, but you were staring at him for a long time earlier,â he said.
âWell⦠Iâm just curious. After all, he doesnât look like Lillianâs colleague.â Rosalie hurriedly explained, âBesides, I love you. Iâm not interested in other men at all!â
In response, he quirked his lips and looked at her with a smile as if it were his plan to lure her into saying this all along.
Rosalie blushed again.
Jonathan leaned over and said, âRosalie, say that again.â His voice was seductively hoarse.
Rosalieâs face became even redder. Even after so many years, she would still blush while her heart raced when he acted like this.
âI love you,â Rosalie said.
âSay it again.â His voice grew increasingly raspy, the deep tones 10:15 strumming at her heartstrings.
âThe person I love is you. I love youâ¦â
She repeated it over and over again as he wished.
Meanwhile, Jerick, who was selecting cakes with Lillian, stared at his right hand, seemingly in a daze.
âThe man just now⦠Is he the Jonathan Youngblood?â He couldnât help but ask Lillian in a low voice, wanting to confirm he hadnât misheard.
âYeah.â Lillian nodded.
âAs in, Jonathan Youngblood from Youngblood Group?â
âYeah.â The answer was the same.
Jerick sucked in a deep breath. He hadnât expected to meet who was essentially the king of Strico in a famous cake shop, let alone that he would be the husband of Lillianâs friend.
Last time, it was Callum, the chairman of White Maple Group, who was beside Lillian. This time, he ran into Jonathan. Jerick couldnât help but wonder which bigshot he would meet the next time he was with Lillian. âWhatâs wrong?â Because Jerick had been silent, Lillian asked.
âNothing. I just didnât expect your friendâs husband to be Jonathan,â Jerick answered.
âBack then, I didnât expect that either, but itâs great that they can be together.â Lillian said, âIf you feel uncomfortable, I can always talk to Rosalie later. We can leave first.â
âNo, even if he is Jonathan Youngblood, I just need to treat him as your friendâs husband.â Jerick smiled. âBy thinking of him that way, thereâs nothing to be uncomfortable about.â
Lillian breathed a sigh of relief. Jerick had a way of making her feel relaxed and comfortable when around him.
Since the blind date, she and Jerick had gone out several more times. However, she realized she thought of him as more of a friend than a boyfriend.
She didnât feel pressured when getting along with Jerick, and they could chat about plenty of things.
Unfortunately, she just didnât feel any sparks between them.
However, when she said so to her parents at home, her mother said sincerely, âWho cares about sparks? Whatâs more important is to marry 10.151 someone suitable. Feelings can grow over time. How many people fall in love with each other at first sight?â
She thought, âSomeone suitable?
Jerick and I do click as friends, but Iâm not sure if heâs suitable husband material. Will I really develop feelings for him over time?
What about Jerick? Does he love me? Or is he also just looking for someone suitable to marry?â
