Chapter 889
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
Carlos hesitated for a moment. In his mind, there was a flash of Jonathan from years ago, who had disregarded his own safety to leave a dying message and activate that explosive device.
When Jonathan spoke, his subordinates didnât dare to stop him. Jonathan got out of the car and headed toward the mountain where the explosions continued to resound.
Carlos and other people also hurriedly followed up.
Yvette stared through the window, watching Jonathanâs car move farther away as she wondered, âIs this man really planning to risk his life to save Rosalie?â
Rosalie had easily obtained the love Melanie failed to obtain back then..
âNek, see that? The man you loved is willing to give his life for another woman!â Yvette mocked, wondering how Melanie would feel if she found out the man she loved was in love with another woman.
If she were to die one day, she would head to hell and mock Melanie for this.
However, even if she were to meet Melanie in hell one day, she presumed Melanie would hate her the most.
She killed Melanie to get the Hamilton familyâs wealth and got Rosalie to take the blame for Zachary.
Alas, her efforts were in vain in the end.
âHaha⦠Haha⦠Jonathan, even if you rush there, you wonât be able to save Rosalie. You definitely wonât save her!â Yvette cursed, her eyes filled with resentment.
The explosions continued, and they were getting closer and closer to Rosalie and Zekiah. She clung tightly to Zekiah, ready to protect him with her life.
She was determined to get Zekiah safely down the mountain, no matter what.
With each explosion, clouds of dust and debris filled the air. Fragments of rocks, dirt, and branches rained down on them painfully.
They had to get down the mountain, but at that moment, a voice shouted, âItâs dangerous!â A hand grabbed Rosalieâs shoulder, pulling her to the side just in time. She fell to the ground with Zekiah, barely escaping the falling debris.
In Rosalieâs original position, a large tree had collapsed.
Rosalie shuddered, realizing that if she hadnât been pulled aside, she and Zekiah would have been crushed by the tree.
âAre you okay? Can you get up?â the voice asked again.
Rosalie shuddered.
his voice isâ¦â she wondered as she looked up-she saw Calvinâs handsome face.
Calvinâs face was now vered in dust and dirt. He looked disheveled.
âWhy are you here?â Rosalie asked in surprise.
âItâs a long story, so Iâll explain later. Right now, we need to leave this place,â Calvin said.
Rosalie stumbled to her feet with Zekiah in her arms. Calvin offered, âIâll carry the child. It will be faster this way.â
Rosalie hesitated but eventually said, âVery well. Thank you.â
Calvin was right. Men had a natural advantage in strength, and carrying Zekiah would be easier for him, allowing them to descend the mountain more quickly.
The most important thing now was to get down safely.
Calvin took Zekiah from Rosalieâs hands. They hurried down the mountain. The path was rugged, and explosions still occurred sporadically.
âI donât think thereâs much explosives left from Yvetteâs plan,â Calvin said.
Just then, an explosion occurred not far from them, causing rocks, trees, and debris to fly in all directions.
Calvin almost instinctively shielded Zeklah with his body and stood in front of Rosalie in a protective manner.
10:22 A muffled grunt sounded in Rosalieâs ear.
âHow are you? Are you okay?â Rosalie asked hurriedly.
Calvinâs face turned pale as he said faintly, âIâm fine. We need to go down the mountain first!â
Just as he stood up, his expression suddenly changed. The ground beneath his feet started to sink.
The explosion just now caused the rocks to collapse!
Without hesitation, Calvin placed Zekiah into Rosalieâs embrace and forcefully pushed her toward a safer area.
It all happened in the blink of an eye.
In the next moment, Calvin felt himself plummeting, and he wondered if he was going to die in such a place. He had never imagined such a fate.
But if this sacrifice could save Rosalie, it might not be in vain.
When she had her accident years ago, he had only regretted not being there to save her.
Now, it seemed as though fate had placed him here to make up for those past regrets.
Calvin slowly closed his eyes, preparing for the impending doom.
Suddenly, a force gripped his wrist, preventing his continued descent.
The feeling made Calvin snap his eyes open, and he saw five slender fingers tightly holding onto his wrist.
It was Rosalieâs hand!
However, she couldnât pull him up due to his weight.
âCalvin, grab my hand quickly. My fingers⦠have very little strength left, and I canât hold on for much longer,â Rosalie said, struggling.
Her fingers, already weakened by years of old and new injuries, were barely functional. Yet now, they held Calvinâs weight, which was an even heavier burden for her.
-Calvin looked at Rosalieâs pained face. He knew the severity of her hand condition, as Levi had informed him. Levi even said that she shouldnât carry heavy stuff before recovering completely. But here she was, holding him up.
âRosalie, thatâs enough! Please let go. Otherwise, the spot youâre standing might collapse. Youâre here to save your son, right? So hold onto him and get down the mountain,â Calvin implored.
âI canât!â Rosalie shouted. âYou⦠grab my hand! Just hold on a bit longer. Jon will come to save us. As long as you endure until he arrives, it will be enough. Please, hold on a bit longer!â
However, Calvin still didnât grab Rosalieâs hand. âDo you really believe Jonathanâll come? The explosions are still ongoing.â
âYes, Jon will definitely come,â she said without any hesitation.
Calvin smiled bitterly, âIf it were the Jonathan from before, maybe he would come. But he has forgotten you, hasnât he? Will he risk his life?â
