Chapter 905
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
âI didnât expect it to happen so easily. I was drunk that day and didnât even know what I was doing,â
Lillian said.
âWhat are your plans now?â Amelia asked.
Lillian fell silent for a moment, then said, âI donât know. This child wasnât part of my plan. If I have this child, Iâll be criticized unless I marry Callum. But Iâm afraidâ¦â
âAfraid that Callum doesnât love you that much?â
âWhat he loves most is his career, his success. His upbringing destined him to pursue all possible benefits and positions. I donât really see anything wrong with that. After all, no law dictates that one must choose love over career.â
Lillian paused and smiled bitterly. âIâm just afraid that if I marry him, Iâll love him too much. Yet, I canât be as carefree as him. If he decides to divorce me one day, I wonât be able to bear it.â
Amelia gently patted Lillian on the shoulder. âRegardless of whether you want this child or not, you have the right to choose. But once you make a decision, donât regret it in the future.â
Lillian was stunned and looked at Amelia. âWell⦠Amelia, do you regret having Aiden?â
âI never regretted giving birth to him. I even felt lucky to have him. Without him, I might have lost the courage to live a long time ago. He is my spiritual support,â Amelia said.
Lillian lowered her head, looking at her belly which was still flat. âWhat about me⦠What will this child become for me? A solace, or a burden?â she thought.
Rosalieâs surgery was completed after eight hours. The procedure went smoothly, following the most optimal surgical methods. There were no unexpected incidents during the operation.
However, the true outcome depended on her recovery post-surgery.
Levi, looking weary, came out and shared the news with the crowd waiting at the operating roomâs entrance.
âMr. Sabatini, thank you. If you ever need anything in the future, Iâll be there to help!â Jonathan said. In Strico, getting such a promise from Jonathan was extremely rare.
âDonât thank me yet. Letâs wait and see how she recovers,â Levi said, then walked away.
Due to the anesthesia, Rosalie hadnât regained consciousness yet.
Lillian and Amelia said to Jonathan, âShe wonât have the energy to greet us when she wakes up. We should go back for now and come see her another day.â They felt more at ease now that they knew the surgeryâs outcome.
âAlright,â Jonathan agreed. âIâll have someone fetch you.â
âNo need. I drove here. Iâll take Amelia home,â Lillian said.
At that moment, Levi entered his private lounge in the hospital, only to find Calvin sitting there.
âHow did the surgery go?â Calvin asked hurriedly.
âIf you were so concerned, why didnât you wait at the operating roomâs door?â Levi asked.
âYou know why,â Calvin replied. âIâll be leaving Strico tonight. I just want to know if her surgery was successful before I go.â
When he said this, there was a trace of loneliness on his face.
Seeing Calvinâs expression, Levi couldnât help but sigh. âThe surgery went very well, better than I expected. However, the extent of her recovery will depend on her postoperative condition.â
âThatâs good,â Calvin said, smiling faintly. This smile seemed to dispel some of his desolation.
As long as she was okay, it was the best outcome for him.
âHow long will you be leaving Strico?â Levi asked.
âI donât know. It depends on the project over there. Maybe I can come back in half a year, or maybe I wonât be back for three to five years,â Calvin said..
09:00 D Levi didnât say anything more. Calvin stood up. âWait for me to come back. Iâll visit you at the clinic. Iâm leaving!â
Calvinâs tall figure walked out of the lounge. Levi muttered to himself, âThis kid, I wonder when heâll be able to let go of Rosalie.â
Calvin reached the parking lot and was about to get his car when he suddenly stopped. Standing in front of him was Jonathan.
âWhy arenât you with Rosalie in the ward? Yet youâre here blocking me?â Calvin mocked.
âThe anesthesia hasnât passed yet, and it will be another hour before she wakes up,â Jonathan remarked casually. âBut what about you? Why did you come to the hospital and sneak around, avoiding everyone?â âAre you hoping that Rosalie will know Iâve been waiting outside during her surgery?â
Calvin asked, a mocking smile playing on his lips.
âYour flight is at eight oâclock tonight, isnât it? Is that where youâre heading now?â
âYou seem to know quite well. Yes, Iâm heading to the airport now,â Calvin said, seemingly unsurprised that Jonathan knew his flight time.
As Calvin spoke, he walked towards his car, opened the door, and got in the driverâs seat. Just as Calvin was about to close the door, Jonathanâs hand suddenly pressed firmly against it.
âWhy didnât you tell Rosalie about what happened back then?â Jonathan asked.
Although he didnât specify what he meant, Calvin understood exactly what he was referring to. âI didnât tell her for her sake. If you donât want her to know how despicable you truly are, itâs best to keep your dark side hidden. Sheâs honest and just, and I doubt she can tolerate your shadows.â
Jonathan leaned in closer, his gaze icy as he stared at Calvin. âYou donât need to worry about that anymore. Rosalie will be my wife in this life and the next. Calvin, remember this well: she will never be with you!â
With those words hanging in the air, Jonathan closed the car door and walked away. Calvin glanced at Jonathanâs retreating figure before starting the car and driving away.
âPerhaps this lifetime is beyond hope, but what about the next one? Who could predict the future? If there truly is a next life, I hope I could meet Rosalie earlier, and⦠we wouldnât have to part ways,â
Calvin thought.
Lillian accompanied Amelia back to the concession stand. They shared a meal, and thankfully, her unborn child cooperated, sparing her another bout of nausea.
When it was time for Lillian to leave, Amelia reminded her, âDrive carefully. Youâre not alone anymore.â
âGot it,â Lillian assured her before driving back to her own home.
However, upon entering her house, her attention was immediately drawn to the multitude of delivery boxes that filled the room.
