Chapter 924
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
When Stephen and Abigail received a call from their daughter, they hurried to Womenâs Health Hospital, only to see her lying on the bed, receiving an IV drip.
âWhat happened? Why are you suddenly hospitalized? Is there something wrong with the baby?â
Abigail asked hurriedly.
Womenâs Health Hospital was the best gynecology and obstetrics hospital in the city. There were many famous experts.
âI have to stay in the hospital for a while to keep the baby. I got into a car accident this morning, and the baby is not in good condition,â Lillian said.
âWhat? A car accident?â Stephen and Abigail were surprised. âAnd you only called us now when the car accident was this morning?â It was already past four oâclock in the afternoon.
Stephen and Abigail were immediately concerned about their daughterâs injuries from the car accident.
They breathed a sigh of relief after knowing that their daughter just hit the bushes and her body was only bruised by the impact of the collision.
âHow is the baby?â Abigail asked.
âNot so good. The babyâs heartbeat is very weak, and there is a possibility of miscarriage at any time.
The doctor asked me to stay in the hospital for observation for three days first and receive progesterone shots,â Lillian replied, her other hand, which was not hooked up to the IV, resting on her abdomen all the time.
That day, after Callum left, she had asked the doctor to schedule an abortion.
However, when the nurse took the consent form and asked her to sign it, she couldnât do so. Tears kept pouring out from her eyes, wetting the consent form.
In the end, she didnât sign it but transferred to another hospital. She went to Womenâs Health Hospital and asked the doctor to keep her baby.
Perhaps that is what itâs like to be a mother. Although she told herself rationally that it would be best for her to have an abortion, she was reluctant to do so and didnât want to kill a possible little life like this.
Unless the child chose to leave her, she thought that as long as the child remained in her womb for even a day, she was obligated to protect and nurture this life.
âYour baby is not doing well now. Get Callum to come over. Didnât he say he would take responsibility for it?â Stephen asked.
âDad, Callum and I are over. He wonât come to me again in the future. This child belongs to me alone. I will be responsible for this child myself!â Lillian replied.
Stephen and Abigail were surprised again.
âDoes he not want to take responsibility again? Is he going to be like before? Iâll go and look for himâ¦â
Stephen said angrily.
âNo!â Lillian stopped his father. âDad, I donât want to be with him! I donât need him to be responsible for this child. This child is mine!â
Startled, Stephen and Abigail looked at each other. Finally, Abigail asked, âYou want to raise this child all by yourself?â
Lillian put his hand on her abdomen and said, âAs long as the child can be saved, I want to raise it alone.â âButâ¦â Abigail looked troubled. After all, if her daughter was unmarried and had children, it would be difficult for her to find a good partner in the future.
She had thought that her daughter and Callum would be together again, but she didnât expect that things would suddenly turn out like this.
âYou canât let go of what happened back then, can you?â Abigail asked.
Lillian knew that her mother had misunderstood her, but she went along with it. âMom, Callum and I.are not from the same world. Rather than forcing ourselves to remain together for the sake of the child, it would be better to sever ties now. My only regret is that you and Dad may have to bear the brunt of the 09:46 gossip when the time comes.â
âOh, you, your dad and I are old. We donât care about any gossip. We just hope you can live a better life in the future,â Abigail said, her eyes red.
Giving birth to this child unmarried represented a difficult path and future chosen by her daughter.
Lillianâs nose stung. Over the years, her parents had been worried about her, but she had failed to give back anything.
Stephen looked at his daughter and said seriously, âIf this baby can be saved, will you really give birth to it without regret? Raising a child is not the same as raising a pet. Youâll have a hard life ahead.â
Lillian took a deep breath and said, âIâve made up my mind. I wonât regret it. As long as the child wants me to be their mommy, I will not give up on them.â
âWell then, have the baby. Our family can afford to raise a child!â Stephen said. Since his daughter had made such a decision, he would take good care of her and the unborn child as a father and a grandfather.
Lillian burst into tears again.
âDonât cry! Itâll be harder to keep the baby if you keep crying. Stop crying now.â Abigail quickly wiped her daughterâs tears.
âOkay, Iâll stop. I wonât cry!â Lillian tried hard to stop her tears.
Now, she only hoped that the baby in her stomach could be saved.
After learning about Lillianâs hospitalization, Rosalie rushed to the hospital.
She was stunned to know that her friend and Callum were completely over. The day before yesterday, when she and Lillian parted ways, she thought Lillian would be with Callum, but it turned out to be the opposite.
âWhat happened?â Rosalie asked.
âWeâre not going to stay together. Weâre not suitable for each other.â Lillian smiled bitterly. âBut I will give birth to this baby. Rosalie, I think I can understand why Amelia chose to give birth to Aiden in the past. Maybe I will raise the child alone in the future like Amelia.â
âYouâre not alone. You have your parents and me. Donât forget that your child will have to acknowledge me as their godmother!â Rosalie said. âDo you remember what you said to me? If you have a child in the future, then your child is my child too!â
Lillian was stunned. When she heard those words from her friend, memories of those days came flooding back.
Her eyes turned red and she said, âYeah, youâre my babyâs mommy, too.â
âAll right, you donât have to worry about anything. Iâm here. Lillian, Iâm here now,â Rosalie said seriously.
She would protect Lillian from being hurt again.
When Rosalie came out of the hospital, Jonathan came to pick her up in person.
Taking in her worried look, he asked, âWhatâs wrong?â
âLillian says that she and Callum are completely over. She plans to raise her child alone,â Rosalie said with a sad look.
Jonathan raised his eyebrows, seemingly a little surprised. âDid Callum agree?â
âYeah. Callum promised Lillian that they would have nothing to do with each other in the future,â
Rosalie said. âLillian seemed determined to be with Callum again the day before yesterday. How did it end up like this?â
