Chapter 969
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
âNo, itâs not like that!â Lillian repeated. âIâm the stupidest person in the world. Callum broke up with for my sake. He didnât break up with me for the White family! It took him five years to finally take control of his fate. He came to me, but I never believed what he said. There was even a curse in him.â
Lillian loathed her stubbornness in the past. Even though she had always known she loved Callum, she tried to stop because she was so afraid of getting hurt.
Even when she last saw him at the door of his villa, she was immediately convinced Madeline and Callum couple after seeing Madeline coming out of his mansion. Lillian thought Callum was only fooling around with her, so she did not even ask for his clarification.
were âWhy couldnât I trust him more back then? Why did I stubbornly think he doesnât have much feelings for me?â Lillian thought.
âCurse? Whatâs that?â Stephen and Abigail were puzzled.
After Lillian informed them of what Madeline said on the rooftop, Stephen and Abigail were stunned for a long time. After a while, Stephen let out a long sigh and said, âIt seems that weâve misunderstood him.â âCallum really did a lot of you.â Abigail also sighed, thinking, âWho couldâve thought the man I thought was a cheater and betrayed my daughter would love her so deeply?â
âDad, Mom, after I get out of the hospital, I want to see Callum and apologize to him. I also want to put in effort to see if he still wants me and the child.â Lillianâs voice became hesitant by the end of the sentence.
âAfter breaking up like that, will Callum still want me? Will he forgive me?â She pondered.
She did not have an ounce of confidence in her.
After all, she said she would not regret it when they broke up. The sight of his cold eyes filled with utter despair was carved deeply in her mind.
âWhy wouldnât he? Thatâs his child in you, his own flesh and blood!â Stephen said immediately. Lillian uttered bitterly, âIf⦠If he has no feelings for me anymore, I can only blame myself.â
âOkay, donât think about it now,â Abigail comforted her. âThe most important thing for you now is to stay in bed and recover for your pregnancy. After youâre discharged from the hospital, and if youâre in good condition, weâll accompany you to meet Callum.â
Lillian also knew that the most important thing for her now was to get better.
âSpeaking of which, this child really went through a lot. Youâve only been pregnant for three months, but youâve been admitted to the hospital so many times,â Abigail exclaimed.
Lillian gently stroked her belly, which still looked rather flat. She continued stroking the baby time and time again, all in the hopes that the child could live a smooth life after going through those fated obstacles.
After escaping death, Lillian fell asleep but kept her hands on her stomach as if her treasure was there.
She wanted to keep the baby no matter what.
When Rosalie opened her eyes again, the white ceiling was the first thing she saw, followed by the doctor and nurses dressed in white coats.
âYouâre awake, Mrs. Youngblood,â the doctor greeted.
âM-My husbandâ¦â When Rosalie opened her mouth, she felt her throat extremely dry. She did not feel pain in her throat, thinking the anesthesia was not completely gone from her system.
However, even though it was difficult, she still managed to speak. Without Jonathan in the room, she started to panic. From what she had understood of him this whole time, he would definitely be looking over her in the ward.
âMr. Youngblood is still undergoing surgery. He sustained two broken ribs and several severe abrasions on his body, which need to be treated. It should take some time,â the doctor hurriedly explained. âMrs.
Youngblood, your operation has just ended. Try not to speak, and wait for at least 12 hours before speaking again. This way, your wounds wonât worsen.â
Hearing this, Rosalie said nothing more. Her mind was filled with Jonathan as she thought, âHe has two broken ribs?
Just how painful would that be?
Yet, I didnât know that at all. He didnât even say anything and only carried me to the hospital and looked at me until I was pushed into the operating room.
Rosalie insisted that the doctor arrange for her and Jonathan to be in the same VIP ward.
When Jonathan was pushed into the ward after his operation ended, Rosalie only saw the thick layers of gauze wrapped around him. He was asleep due to anesthesia.
Rosalie took her phone and typed a line in the memo, asking the doctor: [Doctor, how is his injury? Is he okay?]
âHe should be fine. Mr. Youngblood has a healthy physique. Although he had two broken ribs, the operation was successful. All he needs to do after this is to rest,â the doctor answered.
Hearing this, Rosalie let out a long sigh of relief. After the doctor and nurse left, Carlos informed her of the incident.
Rosalie felt relieved knowing Lillian was receiving medical treatment in the Womenâs Health Hospital and her baby was safe.
âLillian and the baby are fine. Thatâs great!â She thought.
âIâll arrange a caretaker over later. Alsoâ¦â Carlos paused and looked at Rosalie hesitantly. Rosalie typed on her phone: [What is it? If you have something to say, please just say it, Mr. Gibson.] Finally, Carlos spoke, âAlthough Mr. Youngblood was still angry with you, he had always been devoted to you. I have never seen a man doing so much for a woman like this. After knowing what happened to you this time, Mr. Youngblood came to save you even though he was angry and held a grudge against you.
Seeing as he saved you, please treat Mr. Youngblood well, Mrs. Youngblood. Donât hurt him anymore.â
Tears welled up in Rosalieâs eyes as she thought, âI canât believe Iâve hurt Jon so much that even Carlos couldnât help but say such things to me.â
She typed: [I wonât hurt him again. When he wakes up, even if heâs still angry and refuses to forgive me, Iâll stay by his side until he does.]
âGood,â Carlos said. He also thought, âWhy wouldnât Mr. Youngblood forgive Mrs. Youngblood? If something ever happens to her, Iâm sure Mr. Youngblood will immediately yield.â
As he remembered how Jonathan had agreed to Madelineâs attempt to humiliate him before, Carlos felt nothing but admiration for him.
Such a proud man had always stood at the top and looked down on others, yet he was willing to go that far for a woman.
