Chapter 983
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
âOnly one month?â Hearing this, Abigail couldnât help but be worried. The time seemed too short. She wondered if Callum could really mend things with Lillian in such a brief period.
Lillian smiled gently. âIf he still has feelings for me, a month is enough. If he doesnât, even a year wouldnât make a difference.â
Abigail sighed. âAll right, we wonât interfere in your matters with him. After a month, whether you stay or leave, weâll be with you.â
Stephen also nodded, obviously agreeing with his wifeâs words.
Lillian tightened her grip on her phone.
In a month, there would be an outcome between her and Callum.
In the meeting room of the prison, Jonathan looked at Kurt and said, âIt was you who altered my memories during hypnosis, wasnât it?â
Kurt smiled faintly. âIt seems that you, Mr. Youngblood, are aware.â
âYou did this unnecessary thing for my father and the Youngblood family, didnât you?â Jonathanâs voice was icy.
âOf course,â Kurt replied, devoid of guilt.
âYouâre doing this all for my father, for the Youngblood family! But itâs just your delusion. Youâre only enjoying the twisted pleasure of controlling othersâ lives,â Jonathan said coldly. âBut it ends here. Youâll remain in this prison forever. No matter how well you behave, youâll never get parole. And I, along with Rosalie, will live well. She will forever be the lady of the Youngblood family and my wife.â Kurtâs expression wavered slightly. He suddenly said, âMr. Youngblood, youâre naturally suspicious. Do you truly believe in Rosalie? Do you really think that she harbors no resentment for sitting in prison for three years, all because of your indifference? Perhaps one day, she might betray you. Thereâs always a second and a third time, isnât there?â
Kurt tried to plant seeds of doubt in Jonathanâs mind about Rosalie.
However, to his disappointment, Jonathan remained unmoved. The latter just stared at him coldly.
âIs this all youâve got? If I canât trust the woman who loves me most in this world, who else can I trust?
Regardless of our future, I trust her. I will never doubt her love for me.â said Jonathan.
Only after all his memories were fully restored did he realize the depth of her love for him.
He used to think she loved their children more, but now he understood that she had once given up hope for herself and their children, all for him.
08:27 He was the one whom she sacrificed everything to save.
âHow could I not believe such a woman?â he thought.
âI wonât come to see you here anymore.â Jonathan stood up. âBut in prison, you might see the news.
Then, perhaps youâll understand that having weaknesses isnât always a bad thing. Itâs what makes us truly human.â
It was Rosalie who had finally taught him the meaning of life.
His weakness was her, and she was his purpose for the rest of his life.
Leaving the cold meeting room, Jonathan walked out. The calmness on Kurtâs face finally changed at this moment.
âBeing human⦠is about having weaknesses. How can it not be a bad thing? How is that possible?
Everything Iâve done was for the Youngblood family, for Mr. Youngblood,â Kurt muttered nervously, but Jonathan would neither hear nor care.
Outside the prison, a black car awaited Jonathan. Carlos opened the door respectfully.
âLetâs go back,â Jonathan ordered.
The car headed toward the Youngblood residence. As they drove, Carlos spoke. âMr. Youngblood, someone is investigating Yvetteâs case recently.â
Jonathan narrowed his eyes slightly. âWhoâs investigating Yvette?â Yvette was already dead, and even the Hamilton family didnât want to delve into her past. Yet, someone dared to investigate her in secret.
âItâs the Serton family from Lommore,â Carlos replied.
Jonathan slowly uttered a sentence, âThe Serton family? Wyatt Serton?â
âIf things go as expected, it should be Wyatt. The Serton family should know about the grudge between Yvette and the Youngblood family. Still, they dare to secretly investigate Yvetteâs affairs, so there must be a reason. And without Wyattâs consent, other members of the Serton family wouldnât dare to do this.â
After a thoughtful pause, Jonathan inquired, âWhy does the Serton family want to investigate Yvette?â
âAt the moment, itâs unclear. But their primary focus seems to be on Yvetteâs experiences over the last five years, and it appears theyâre also looking into whether Yvette has given birth to a child,â Carlos explained.
âIn that case, keep a close watch and find out what exactly the Serton family is after,â Jonathan ordered.
Carlos nodded in agreement.
The car returned to the Youngblood residence, and Jonathan stepped out of the vehicle, learning from Gary that Rosalie and the children were in the backyard. Jonathan walked to the backyard, where he found Rosalie playing with hair ties, an old-fashioned game, with the three children.
08:27 0 It was a rare sight nowadays, as few people played with hair ties anymore.
Felix and Guillermo stood on either side, with hair ties wrapped around their calves, obediently acting as anchors. Jennifer stood on the other side of the hair ties. Rosalie demonstrated how to play.
Her long hair was tied into a simple ponytail, and she wore a light blue tracksuit. The ropes were plain, but under her feet, they formed intricate patterns. She moved like a graceful butterfly, captivating Jonathanâs gaze.
The three children stared in awe, especially Jennifer, who clapped enthusiastically and appeared eager to join in. If Rosalie was not still playing, the little one might have rushed in to join the fun.
When Rosalie finished her demonstration, she noticed that Jonathan had quietly arrived. She couldnât help but ask, âWhen did you come back?â
âJust a moment ago.â Jonathan smiled slightly. âI never knew you were so good at playing with hair ties.â
âItâs not that good; itâs been years since I last played. I almost forgot how to do it,â Rosalie replied.
When she lived in the small town as a child, there wasnât much entertainment, so the girls often gathered to play with hair ties during breaks or after school.
