Third Person POV
âConjuring darkness was not part of our agreement,â Alpha Jonathan seethed as he stood outside of
the study, he appointed to Jazzy during her stay with him.
Zagreus in his snake form rested on her desk, his eyes turned to slits as Alpha Jonathan stared
pointedly at them. Jazzy leaned against her desk, a cocky grin on her perfectly formed lips as she
glanced at Zagreus. âRest easy, my love,â she said to him. âI can handle this quite fine.â
She then turned to Alpha Jonathan who tried to remain as calm as he could but facing darkness in his
own home gave him a chill down his spine; something he would never admit out loud.
âOur agreement was for me to save your daughterâs life by turning her into one of those disgusting
creatures,â Jazzy seethed, narrowing her eyes at Alpha Jonathan. âHow I do it, isnât your concern.â
âWhen itâs in my home, it is my concern,â Jonathan said, curling his lip up as he spoke to her. âYou
sacrificed my warrior to bring him here.â
âThat halfâminded mutt was no warrior,â Jazzy scoffed. âIf anything, I did you a favor.â
âHe was young; he was still in training. He was one of the best in training. He had the potential to
become great,â Alpha Jonathan said to her, shaking his head at her.
He could help but feel disappointed; if he were to be honest, he liked. Douglas. He wanted him to be
Sarahâs chosen mate if he continued to excel as a warrior.
This only made Jazzy laugh though.
âHe was never going to be anything. You have many other warriors that are far more capable of
defending your pathetic pack than a 21âyearâold virgin,â Jazzy muttered.
âDarkness is not the answer,â Alpha Jonathan continued to push making the snake on Jazzyâs desk
hiss furiously. This time, he couldnât hide his flinch.
âIt would be an impossible task without Zagreus to help us,â Jazzy said, stepping toward Alpha
Jonathan before the snake attacked. Even with Jazzyâs best efforts, she couldnât control the snake and
if he wanted to

attack, he would. âIf you want this to work, you need to trust me.â Alpha Jonathanâs jaw clenched.
âDo you not sacrifice any more men to keep that thing alive,â Alpha Jonathan hissed. âAs soon as my
daughter is a powerful Volana, and she kills the rest of them as payment to you, our ties are done.â
On that note, he turned and slammed the door shut behind him. The snake slithered to the ground
beside Jazzy and began to take the form of the handsome gentleman known as Zagreus. He stood
beside her, staring at the closed door that Jonathan had just stormed through. âI take it he doesnât know
the full plan?â Zagreus asked a glimmer of humor behind his tone.
âIf he knew that his precious daughter was going to be my vessel, he would never go along with such a
plan,â Jazzy chuckled.
âYou realize for her to be your vessel, she needs to die during this ritual. She wonât be herself
anymore.â
âExactly. She will be exactly what I want her to be. She will do exactly what I want her to do without
question. To me, sheâs just a body. Except she will be as powerful as the strongest Volana. She should
also still have her mind manipulation abilities without the curse,â Jazzy said, closing the small gap
between her and Zagreus.
âTell me, my love. What are you going with her once she kills all the other Volana wolves?â Zagreus
asked, wrapping his strong arms around her thin waist.
âI might keep her around as my pet. It could be fun,â Jazzy said, shrug. âMight use her to kill my stupid
sister as well.â
Zagreus gave her a low and deep laugh as he bent down to kiss her red plump lips But just as he
neared her, he froze entirely, his body shuttering in agony. He released her and gripped the desk to
stabilize himself.
His scream brought her on high alert as she ran toward him.
âWhat is it? What is happening to you?â
âItâs that guardian,â he hissed through his teeth. âItâs been summoned.â
âThe guardian of the earth?â Jazzy asked, looking around frantically as if it might appear in front of her.
She knew the guardian was meant to protect the earth, but she never heard of it protecting packs.

That bitch is back,â Zagreus seethed. âShe must have been summoned during a protection spell.â
âWill it kill you?â Jazzy asked, extremely worried that her plans might falter.
âNo, nothing can kill me. Iâm immortal,â Zagreus said, much to her relief. âBut I wonât be able to use my
magic. It makes me powerless unless I have a moonstone. âJazzy pressed her lips firmly together as
she traveled to the window of her study and peered out into the night sky. A hazy light shield was
surrounding the pack. She clenched her fists together furiously.
âThey are protecting this pack,â Jazzy said through her teeth. âHow do they know where you are?â
âDo you see any orbs of light?â Zagreus asked.
She squinted her eyes at the shield and on the very top she saw one orb of light where the shield was
originally cast.
âI see one, yes,â Jazzy said feeling and sounding annoyed.
âIf there is only one then I doubt they know Iâm here. Or else theyâd all be here and trying to cast me
out. They are here to protect this pack and Iâm assuming others as well. Thereâs 4 of them all together,â
Zagreus said, trying and failing at taking a deep breath.
He was still hunched over and feeling a wave of pain electrocuting his insides.
âYouâre powerless?â Jazzy breathed. She stared down at her hands and felt less powerful than she had
moments ago. Her brows furrowed together. âWill it affect me as well?â
âAll dark magic is being cast away,â he answered. âThe only thing that will strengthen our abilities is a
moonstone. I need to get out of this shield before I revert to my snake form.â
âAlpha Jonathan has a warehouse that is rigged to hold the strongest Volana. Will that work?â Jazzy
asked, holding onto one of his arms. âAs long as itâs outside this barrier;â he answered. âI wonât be able
to cast this dark curse next week unless I get my hands on a moonstone.â
âI might have one somewhere. Iâll look for it later. I need to get you out of here first,â Jazzy said quickly
as they made their way out of the study door.

wonât be able to do it without the stone.â
They made their way down the spiral staircase and into the foyer of Alpha Jonathanâs manor. Zagreus
let out a low scream as he doubled over; Jazzy heard a bone cracking loudly. He was turning back into
his snake form by force and when itâs done by force itâs extremely painful. âKeep going!â He growled.
She held onto his arm which was now attached to the side of his body and pulled him along with him.
Thankfully his feet still worked; at least at the moment, it did.
They walked outside and they went as fast as they could toward the pack border. He screamed again
as agony arched his body.
âThat Volana goes to the school of shifters in Higala. Which means all my magic there was probably
undone,â Jazzy seethed with annoyance. âMost likely,â he said, taking rapid breaths.
âBut that bear we took over; we used your magic for that. Will that be undone as well?â Jazzy asked.
Instead of answering, he screamed again in agony. They were almost at the border. Many guards had
taken notice and were charging toward them, but one fierce look from Jazzy halted them.
She didnât even need magic to control them; they were pathetic and weak creatures and their
obedience toward her made her laugh.
Zagreus fell to the ground; Jazzy could see his snakeâlike eyes forming. Her heart raced against her
chest at a rapid speed. She wasted no time; she used all her strength to grab him and drag him past
the borderlines. and out of the shield.
As soon as they made it to the other side, he gasped for breath as if he had just gone deep diving and
was now just coming up for air. She was gasping as well and lay on the ground beside his frail and
trembling body.
He was no longer shifting into a snake; his body was back in his control. He slowly formed his body
back into the human form that Jazzy knew and loved.
They stayed like that for a long while as he struggled to regain hist strength.
âWe should keep moving. We have quite a while to travel to get to the warehouse,â Jazzy said,
standing to her feet.
âAre you sure itâs safe?â Zagreus asked, finally managing to get to his feet.
Itâs rigged in our favor. Trust me, itâs safe,â she answered.
He nodded and followed her through the forest grounds; it would take them an hour to reach the
warehouse and they were going on foot. Thankfully, Jazzy felt her powers restored. She had a
moonstone necklace in her jewelry box, but unfortunately, it was left in Starcove. She would have to get
it if she wanted this dark curse to break the barriers of the guardian.
âAs for the bear, if she has possession of a moonstone, we can keep control of her.â
âWhere is she going to get a-â
Jazzyâs words trailed off as she remembered that day, she saw that Volana wolf; she wore a
moonstone bracelet. Where she got it was beyond Jazzy, but she had it and they attended the same
school.
That bear, Rachel, needed to get that bracelet before she lost control.
