Lilaâs POV
When the nurse brought in my two healthy baby boys, my entire heart swelled. I couldnât believe I was a mom; I couldnât believe I was looking at my babies. They were so tiny, and one was wrapped in a green blanket and the other was wrapped in a blue one.
âI just gave them a bottle and changed their diapers,â the nurse said in a hushed tone as she stepped toward my bedside. âDo you want to hold them?â
I hadnât realized I was crying until she spoke to me. I sniffled and wiped the tears that had fallen onto my cheeks as I nodded.
âYes,â I managed to get out in a whisper.
She swiftly placed each baby into the crook of my arm. The babies both stirred for a moment before their little bodies relaxed. My heart swelled even more, and I couldnât keep the tears from pouring down my face.
They were so cute and perfect with their little noses and mouths. It was too early to tell who they looked more like because their eyes were closed, but they had dark hair and little chubby cheeks.
âMy beautiful pups,â I whispered.
Enzo sat on the side of the bed and peered down at them.
âYeah, they are,â he agreed. âWait until they open their eyes.â
I smiled as I cradled the pups in my arms, but then the memory of our wedding surfaced in my head and suddenly, I couldnât breathe.
I stared up at Enzo with wide eyes as he gazed down at the pups; he didnât notice the frantic look on my face. We had an entire wedding and wedding guests that we left behind because I had to go to the hospital. Iâve been here for over 12 hours; what had happened to them? Did they all leave?
âThe weddingâ¦.â I whispered with complete horror in my tone.
Enzo looked at me with such compassion in his eyes that it made my heart flip.
âWe will have another one,â he said simply, turning his attention back to the twins.
âI ruined this one,â I said, frowning. More tears filled my eyes, and I was suddenly incredibly sad over the fact that I ruined our wedding.
âAre you kidding me? You gave me the greatest wedding gift anyone could have ever given me,â he said in return, his smile growing. âTwo amazing baby boys. I couldnât imagine anything better.â
I smiled; he was right. There was plenty of time to have a wedding; we were parents now. We just had twin babies and I needed to relax and be grateful that they were alive and happy. I rested against Enzo as he wrapped his arms around me.
âI love you,â he whispered against me.
âI love you too,â I breathed, peering up at him and watching as he leaned closely.
His lips brushed across mine and I felt my face growing warm from the contact. He ran his fingers down the side of my face, sending a wave of chills to course through my body. I smiled into his kiss before I pulled away and looked down at my pups.
Several hours later, there was a knock on the door.
Enzo went to grab some food from the cafeteria, and I had just finished changing their diapers. Their eyes remained closed, but the doctor said they should be opening them at any moment. Both their vitals are good; strong heartbeats and they are both eating.
âCome in,â I announced to the closed door.
It opened slightly and my motherâs head poked inside. When her eyes found mine, she gave me a large smile.
âAre you feeling up for visitors?â She asked.
I smiled and nodded in response, and she looked relieved as she pushed the door open, I gasped as I looked at the faces of my friends and family who were eager to flood into the room. I wasnât really expecting so many of them to show up at once and I knew the doctors were not going to like this, but I didnât care. I was just so happy to see them.
Corrinne and Flynn rushed to my bedside to look at their nephews.
âThey are so cute,â Corrinne whispered.
âLila!â I heard Bri say as she rushed toward me and threw her arms around my body. âYou had us all so scared.â
âIâm sorry to worry you guys,â I said through my tears, smiling up at Becca and Rachel who were also standing at my bedside.
Uncle Aiden and Donovan were the next to wrap me in hugs.
âGlad youâre okay,â Aiden said as he pulled away.
âHow are the little warriors?â Uncle Don asked, staring down at the babies who were sleeping between my legs.
âIncredible,â I answered with a smile.
âWhat are their names?â Corrinne asked eagerly.
I smiled at her question.
âWell, the one in green, we named him Asher, and the one in blue is Cooper.â
âThose are cute names,â Corrinne approved brightly. Everybody nodded in agreement and then the door swung open, averting our attention from the babies to Enzo who looked around the room wide-eyed.
It was clear that he wasnât expecting so many people in this room at once, but once he took everyone in, his body relaxed, and a smile formed on his lips.
Noticed that he wasnât holding any food, which was a bit disappointing because I was so hungry. My stomach angrily growled at me; I wasnât sure when the last time I hated was. It had to be the morning of my wedding. So yesterday morning.
âIâm glad everybody is here because I have a surprise,â he said with a bright smile.
Everybody, including me, stared at him confused. But then our eyes shifted to behind him when the priest from the temple appeared behind him. He looked a little confused as he glanced around the room, but Enzo motioned for him to follow.
âWhatâs going on?â I asked as Enzo stepped beside my bed.
âI donât want to wait another minute to marry you,â Enzo said, meeting my eyes. âI donât need a big fancy wedding and a reception we can have at any time. I want you to be my wife and Luna, so I brought the priest to the hospital.â
âHeâs going to marry us?â I whispered, tears filling my eyes.
He nodded and grabbed hold of my hands.
âWhat do you say? You want to get married?â
I nodded eagerly as more tears fell from my eyes and soaked over my cheeks. Enzoâs smile only grew as he used his thumb to wash away my fallen tears.
My friends and family parted as Enzoâs mother rushed toward me with a bouquet.
âYou take these,â she ordered, giving me a wink as she handed them to me. âAnd Iâll take these,â she added with a large grin as she began to reach for Asher.
âIâll take the other one,â my mother breathed as she reached for Cooper.
Enzo looked down at me and his eyes settled onto mine.
âReady to get married?â
âIâve been ready for a long time,â I whispered in return as we glanced at the Priest who stood at the foot of the bed.
As the priest spoke, the excitement in me grew. I found myself unable to concentrate on what he was saying. All I could think about was the fact that I was marrying my mate; I just had two twin boys and I was surrounded by those I loved most in this world.
It all felt so surreal and incredible.
I hadnât realized the priest had spoken to me directly until everyone's eyes fell on me.
âIâm sorry what?â I asked with a burning face.
âI was asking if you wanted to share your vows,â he repeated, narrowing his eyes at me.
âOh, right. Yes,â I said, trying not to appear embarrassed.
I took hold of Enzoâs hands and looked into his amazing eyes.
âWhat a crazy road it took us to get here,â I chuckled. âFor a while, I didnât think this day would ever come. I thought we were too different and that weâd reject each other and move on. But I was wrong and Iâm glad that I was because I canât imagine spending my life with anyone other than you. I couldnât imagine anyone else to have pups with. You have become my rock in such a short time. You are my protector. You are my home. I love you so much.â
Enzo smiled at my words and then he cleared his throat before he began to speak.
âI will always be your protector,â he said in return. âIâll do whatever I have to keep my family safe. You, Cooper, and Asher, are my family. I will never let anything happen to you three. I know these last couple of years havenât been easy. Weâve faced many challenges together, but weâve overcome them together and thatâs what I want from our lives together. I want us to overcome obstacles together because it will only make us stronger. Words canât express how much I love you, but I promise Iâm going to prove to you every day just how much you mean to me and how much I am head over heels in love with you.â
Tears spilled from my eyes again as Enzo wrapped me in his arms.
I heard sniffling around me, and I knew others were crying as well; it made me feel better knowing I wasnât alone.
âLila, do you take Alpha Enzo to be your husband? To have and to hold? For better or worse? Sickness, and in health? Till death do you part?â
âYou bet I do,â I whispered, keeping my eyes locked on Enzoâs.
âAnd do you accept Alpha Enzo as your Alpha? Do you accept his authority and understand his duties as pack Alpha?â
âYes,â I said, nodding my head.
This was doubling as an inauguration into the pack. After this ceremony, I will officially be a part of Enzoâs pack and Iâll be able to mindlink with the Calypso pack members.
âAnd lastly, do you accept your role as Luna of the Calypso pack? To protect it even if it means losing your life? To care for your pack members as if they were family and to work alongside your Alpha to keep your members safe and happy?â
I nodded again.
âYes,â I answered, my smile growing.
This was tripling as a Luna ceremony as well.
He then looked at Enzo.
âAlpha Enzo, do you take Lila as your wife? To have and to hold? For better or worse? For sickness and in health? Till death do you part?
âI do,â Enzo said softly, almost breathlessly.
âAnd do you accept her as a member of your pack?â
âI do,â he said again.
âAnd do you accept her as your Luna?â
âI do,â he answered.
âThen I now pronounce you husband and wife; Alpha and Luna,â the priest announced. âYou may kiss the bride.â
Enzo bent and brushed his lips across mine, sending a wave of warmth to wash throughout my body. Everybody in the room clapped and cheered for us, making me burst out laughing as the nurse ran in with a frazzled look on her face.
She didnât like that so many people were in this room, and she made that painfully known.
âWe should probably go,â Dee said with a nervous chuckle, ushering my friends out of the room. My mother and Diana began to walk toward me with the babies, but then they both stopped, and their eyes widened.
âOh, my goddessâ¦â I breathed.
âDid Cooper open his eyes?â Diana asked. âBecause Asher just did.â
âYes,â my mother whispered. âHe opened his eyes.â
âWhatâs wrong? Are they okay?â I asked, panic rising through me.
Enzo went to our mothers to look at what they were looking at and his smile was radiant as he looked down at our boys.
âWhat is it?â I asked again, more urgently.
Enzo brought his gaze up to meet mine.
âThey are both Volana wolves.â
