Chapter 0509 Now, I just needed to check the library and the student lounge. There probably wasnât anybody in the library at this hour, but I had to check anyway.
When I went into the library, I was relieved to see nobody there except for the night-shift librarian. On this campus, we had day shift workers and night shift workers. I knew this particular night shift worker not only from passing in the faculty neighborhood, which had a house for all full-time faculty members but also from sometimes I enjoy late night reading sessions and come to the library often to pick out new books.
âHello Alpha,â she said, standing to her feet, bowing her head slightly in respect. She was part of Alpha Jonathanâs pack and was trained to be respectful toward Alphas.
âI need you to make sure no student comes in here tonight,â I told her, without even greeting her, making her frown.
âI'm sorry?â âSomeone was found dead tonight, Stephanie,â I told her, making her jaw drop.
âWhat?â She croaked. âWho?â âI canât disclose that right now, but with time Iâm sure Headmaster Prescott will explain everything. She asked me to go around campus
and make sure all students were backin their dorms. If you are staying here tonight, I suggest you lock the doors to the library. Or lock the doors and return to your faculty house. Itâs not safe out there.â I could practically hear how quickly her heart was beating; she looked like she wanted to burst out crying. She was very familiar with almost every student at this school, including those who go to school at night.
Iâm sure the thought of one of them being dead broke her heart.
But she didnât say anything; she shakily nodded and leaned against her desk for support.
âPm sorry I had to be the one to tell you,â I said solemnly.
«ye need to hurry and get back to our mate,â Max whined.
I knew he was right, but Thad a job to do as well. Without another word, I turned and left the library, silently sending a prayer to the goddess that she watched over Stephanie the librarian because she was going to need all the help she could get if she wanted to get through this without falling apart.
I went into the student lounge and only saw a couple of vampires sitting with one another. There was a girl amongst them that reeked of wolf. I recognized her as Lydia; one of my students.
âYou all need to get back to your dorms. Thereâs been a tragedy that happened this evening and Headmaster Prescott is requesting everybody's return,â I told them, but my eyes never left Lydia who stared back at me with a red face and large eyes.
She had a couple of puncture wounds on her neck and one of the tall muscular male vampires had his hand on her thin waist, keeping her close to him.
âLydia, you shouldnât have been here in the first place. Itâs past curfew for you,â I told her firmly, raising my brows at her dazed look.
«Sheâs with us,â the vampire that held onto her waist said, pulling her even closer.
She willingly went with him, pressing her body against his.
âyou know itâs against school law to feed off students,â I said, narrowing my eyes at him. âYou could get expelled for this.â âRelax, teach. She likes it,â he said, giving me a cocky side grin as he leaned into her ear and whispered, âDonât you?â âYes, baby,â she purred in return. âIlike ita lot.â âThat doesnât matter,â I said, trying to keep my temper under control but they were really pissing me off. âItâs against school rules.
Headmaster Prescott ordered everybody back to their dorms.â I paused as I looked at them. âYour assigned dorms,â I added through my teeth.
