Liviana’s POV

“Can’t sleep?” Rainer suddenly appeared beside me.

I was in the balcony getting some air.

I gave him a small smile.

“Yeah” I said.

I turned around to check on Luke who was sleeping in the bed.

He was still very much sleeping.

My poor little one must’ve been tired from today’s preparations for his birthday.

“You should sleep. Tomorrow will be a long day” he told.

I nodded as I looked up at the night sky.

“Rainer” I said.

Rainer replied with a hum.

“Do you think they’ve already moved on with their lives without me?” I suddenly asked.

I’ve had these thoughts for a while now.

I couldn’t voice them out until now.

Since Rainer knows almost everything about me now, I can tell him everything I want to.

After all, I kind of owe him my life.

I never once thought I’d owe someone my life except the moon goddess, but then again, there’s Rainer.

“I’m sure they do. Every single day even” he said as he too looked up at the night sky.

I smiled sadly.

I do too.

“You’re not leaving us so soon, right?” Rainer suddenly asked.

I turned to look at him and I saw a glint of pain in his eyes.

“I’m not leaving anyone” I assured him.

Rainer sighed in relief.

“I need to get some things done before I can come back to Lunar to take back what’s mine but that doesn’t mean I’m abandoning Halo” I told him.

“I’m glad” he said.

I chuckled a bit.

“We should get some sleep into our system” I said.

Rainer nodded and we headed to our separate beds.

Tomorrow will be an important day for Luke so I need as much sleep as I can to keep up with him and everyone else.

I drifted off to sleep beside Luke.

I cuddled into him and fell to sleep.

I don’t know how much sleep I got but I woke up pretty early.

I looked at Luke and stared at him for a few moments while he peacefully slept.

What an angel.

I smiled.

I gave Luke a k**s and carefully got off the bed to prepare for the day.

I took a shower and went to walk in closet afterwards.

I picked out a white solid surplice a line dress and a pair of white sandals.

I walked out of the walk in closet and saw Rainer sitting up his sofa bed with his usual messed up hair from sleep.

“Morning, captain. You should probably get ready too” I told him.

Rainer nodded sleepily as he rubbed his eyes.

“Good morning, princess” he greeted with a sleepy smile.

I chuckled.

“Can I use your bathroom?” he asked with a yawn.

I nodded.

“Sure thing. Did you already bring your clothes with?” I asked as I sat in front of the vanity table.

Rainer shook his head.

“I’ll fetch it first in my room” he said anf sleepily got off his bed and made his way out.

I chuckled again as I plugged in the hair dryer and started drying my hair.

At this rate, Luke will wake up soon.

I was right.

As soon as I finished drying my hair, Luke woke up.

Luke stretched his arms and body as he cutely rolled to his front and pushed himself to sit up the bed.

“Good morning, my sweet little boy” I said as I made my way to him.

I scooped him in my arms into a hug and gave him a morning k**s.

“Happy Birthday, baby boy” I said as I put my forehead on Luke’s.

Luke slightly giggled as he placed his face on my neck.

Then, Rainer came in.

“Our little prince is awake” Rainer said with a smile as he approached us.

“Hey there, birthday boy” Rainer said playfully making Luke giggle and laugh.

“I’m going to take a shower quickly. Then, I’ll give Luke a bath afterwards” Rainer said and I nodded as he made his way to the bathroom.

I carried Luke with me and sat him on the vanity table after giving him a toy while I got a curling iron.

I started curling my hair into waves.

After a while, Rainer came out only wearing a bathrobe as he made his way towards our direction.

“I’ll bathe Luke so just continue getting ready” he said.

I nodded.

“Thank you” I said and Rainer smiled at me.

Rainer took away Luke to bathe him in the bathroom while I continued getting ready.

I applied some light make up so I don’t look too plain for this day.

It wasn’t like I was trying to please anyone but I still wanted to look as presentable as I can as Luke’s mom, you know?

Anyway, I finished getting ready and looked ay myself in the mirror.

It’s been a while since I got ready like this.

Rainer and Luke came out of the bathroom and Rainer handed me Luke so I can get him dressed while he’d also get dressed himself.

I put on the baby blue solid button front shirt, white shorts and his little white sneaker on Luke.

Then, I slightly styled his hair a bit to make him cuter.

“What a handsome little boy you are” I said lightly squeezing my adorable son’s face.

“It looks really good on him” Rainer said as he saw Luke.

Then, he came to our side.

Rainer wore a long sleeve button down shirt and jeans paired with white shoes and his hair was styled neatly.

He looked really fresh with his look.

“It really does, doesn’t it?” I said proudly.

Rainer chuckled and nodded in agreement before carrying Luke in his arms.

“Shall we go out? I’m sure everyone is pretty busy by now” he suggested.

I nodded and we all went out together.

Aa expected, everyone was already busy preparing for the guests to come.

My grandparents turned to our direction and saw us.

“Oh my!” grandma reacted as she came to us with open arms.

“You look lovely, darling. What a beauty you are” grandma said as she hugged me.

“And my great grandson looks absolutely handsome” she said as she lightly pinched Luke’s cheeks.

I smiled.

Grandma then looked at Rainer.

“You look dashing, Rainer. Perfect for our princess” grandma teased.

“Grandma!” I slightly scolded her.

Grandma giggled teasingly.

“Selene” grandpa scolded grandma as well.

“What?” grandma asked innocently.

Grandpa shook his head in disbelief as he looked at me.

“You look beautiful” he said with a smile.

I smiled.

“Thanks, grandpa” I replied with a smile.

I helped out in the finalization of the venue while Rainer helped me.

Luke was with my grandparents.

“Can you hold this for me?” I said to Rainer as I stepped on the ladder to fix a decor.

“I can do it instead” Rainer suggested.

I shook my head.

“It’s fine. I can do it. It’s easy” I said as I started fixing the decoration.

I finished it quickly and made my way down the ladder.

But I guess I should’ve been more careful.

I tripped midway and fell back.

I was caught off guard.

Before I can even use my powers, I felt someone catch me before I hit the ground.

“Are you okay?” Rainer asked worried.

I nodded as he carefully placed me down to stand up.

“Thanks” I said a little embarrassed.

He offered to do it and I got almost myself in trouble for declining.

“I told you so” he said and I pouted a little.

Rainer smiled and chuckled as he lightly ruffled my hair.

“Hey!” I whined as I slightly smacked his hand.

This hair took a lot of effort to do.

Rainer laughed.

We continued on with the final preparations.

After about an hour, guests started arriving.

Rainer got Luke and they stayed beside me.

The party officially started.

Rainer and I took turns holding Luke as we attended to the guests.

At some point, Luke fell asleep so we excused ourselves and went to Luke’s room.

“You can go back, you know? I can stay with Luke” I told Rainer.

“It’s fine. I’m not too eager on leaving you both behind” he said as he sat down on a love seat.

I stared at Luke’s sleeping form.

He really is such a blessing.

One that I never expected so soon.

But I really am glad.

He’s the whole reason that I’m able to stay sane despite this complicated situation.

Then, I turned to look at Rainer.

He had his eyes closed as he laid back on his seat.

“Rainer” I softly called out.

“Hmm?” Rainer replied with a hum.

“Thank you” I genuinely said.

Rainer opened his eyes.

“For what?” he asked curiously.

“For everything. For saving me. For looking after Luke and I. For guarding and protecting us. For accompanying us. Literally, thank you for everything” I said.

Rainer smiled.

Then, he stood up and made his way to me.

Rainer stopped in front of me and placed his hand on the top of my head.

I looked up at him as he smiled at me.

“Thank you for coming to my life. The both of you” he said with a smile.

I smiled.

I really am so thankful.

Despite what I went through, I’m still glad it happened.

I really am.

Because I was able to meet more people that I will surely treasure in my life.

People who I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.

People who I’d want to protect with my life.

People I’d want to be with for the rest of my life.

People who make me realize that life is worth living.

The people whom I’m most thankful for for being in my life.
