Liviana’s POV

“Where were you, Livi?” Edmond asked.

“I was in Halo for the past 3 years” I told them and glanced at Rainer sitting beside me.

“And who took you in there?” Pa asked.

“My grandparents” I said.

Pa’s eyes slightly widened.

“You’ve finally met your mother’s parents?” Pa said.

I nodded.

“Yes. Actually, a lot of things have happened aside from just meeting them and being taken in by them” I told them.

“What else happened?” Edmond asked.

I awkwardly glanced at Rainer again and he chuckled at my expression.

I cleared my throat.

“Uhm…I became Queen” I said.

Their jaws dropped to the floor.

There was an awkward silence inside the room.

Then, Madeline; Pa’s mate suddenly came holding a baby girl.

Madeline looked around confused.

I stood up from my seat and made my way to her.

“Is she my sister?” I asked softly.

Madeline nodded.

“She is. Her name is Lizi. Dimitri and I wanted to name her after you. And since your nickname was Livi, we figured that Lizi would make a cute name” she said lovingly.

I smiled.

Then, I looked at Lizi.

She looked like she was almost a year old.

“Hi there, Lizi. I’m your big sister” I cooed slightly pinching her cheek.

Lizi giggled.

She extended her arms to me so I could carry her so I did.

“You’re a sweet little girl, aren’t you?” I cooed.

Lizi giggled again as she touched my face.

“Livi” Lizi suddenly blurted out.

My eyes slightly widened as I looked at Madeline.

Madeline’s eyes widened as well.

“Livi” Lizi repeated again.

“Oh my gosh! Lizi just said her first word!” Madeline squealed.

I looked at Lizi shocked.

The others came rushing to surround us.

“What did Lizi say?” Pa asked as she went to Madeline’s side.

“She said—” Madeline was about to say.

“Livi” Lizi said again with a giggle as she looked at me.

I looked at her lovingly.

“Awwww” everyone reacted.

Rainer stood beside me and placed his hand on my waist.

“You really have a way with kids” he said chuckling.

I smiled and looked at Lizi.

“You just made your big sister’s day” I said bopping my little sister’s nose.

Everyone looked at us lovingly.

After that, Theresa and Madeline prepared a feast for us.

I played with Lizi in the living room while everyone else did their thing.

They said that a welcome party will be held for my return a few days from now.

“Liviana, can we talk in private for a moment?” Rainer suddenly said.

I nodded.

“Of course” I said.

I looked at El who was looking at us.

“Can you look after Lizi while Rainer and I talk?” I said.

El gave me a curious look but nodded.

Rainer and I made our way to my room to talk privately.

“What is it?” I asked him.

“I’m planning on going back to Halo tomorrow early in the morning” he said.

“Tomorrow? You’ve barely taken a rest Rainer. Would it really be okay if you go back to Halo so soon?” I said.

Rainer nodded.

“All the important matters in the palace of Lunar have been settled. I think I should check in on our people in Halo as soon as we can” he explained.

I nodded in agreement.

“I’ll come with you” I insisted.

Rainer shook his head.

“That’s not part of the plan so you just stay here like what we decided on before” he said.

“I’ll bring back Luke with me safely” he told me.

“I promise” he said.

I gave Rainer a small smile and nodded.

“Okay” I agreed.

Rainer smiled and slightly ruffled my hair.

Then, we walked over to my balcony to get some air.

“How are you feeling so far?” Rainer asked.

“Better” I told him.

“Your family members are quite nice” Rainer commented.

I smiled.

“They are” I said proudly.

Rainer smiled.

Rainer and I looked at the scenery from my balcony.

“So what’s your plan when Luke gets here?” he suddenly asked.

I sighed.

“Well, I’ll introduce him first to my family, of course” I said.

“And?” he said.

I shrugged.

“I don’t know, Rainer. My original plan was to let Luan be the first one to know about our son” I told him.

Rainer sighed.

“He’ll come back” Rainer said.

I looked at him as he looked in front.

“If he really loves you, he’ll come back no matter what” he said and looked at me giving me an assuring smile.

I sighed and nodded.

“I guess so” I said.

Rainer and I looked in front in silence again.

“How about you? What’s your plan?” I asked him curiously.

“I’m planning on serving her highness for the rest of my life” Rainer said and playfully winked at me.

I chuckled.

“I’m serious, Rainer. Aren’t you planning on doing anything else except being the head warrior or something? Maybe building a family of your own perhaps? Or atleast meeting someone?” I suggested.

I cringed at my own words.

I was never the type to think of being committed to someone or building a family.

But after everything that has happened in my life so far, it doesn’t seem as awful as I thought it was years ago.

Wow.

I’m really down bad.

Rainer sighed as he bit his lower l*p.

“I did meet someone” he said.

“And?” I said expectantly.

“She was the right person but it was the wrong lifetime” he said and looked at me.

Rainer looked me straight in the eyes and I became speechless.

“I don’t think I’ll ever find anyone as amazing as her. She’s strong, fierce and fearless but at the same time, she’s loving, caring and kind. It’s unfortunate that I met her too late” he said staring at me.

I gulped.

“Rainer…” I said.

Rainer smiled at me.

It was a sad one then he averted his gaze.

“Don’t worry, Liviana. It was clear to me who you really loved from the day you told me about your past” he started.

“I respect your feelings and I respect your choices. I know what I got myself into when I developed these feelings for you and when I got attached” he said and looked at me.

“I’m sorry” I blurted out.

Rainer ruffled my hair.

“Don’t ever blame yourself, Liviana. I was the one who chose to fall in love with you. It’s not like you forced me to fall in love with you. You simply existed and that was it for me” he said with a shrug.

I slightly chuckled and lightly punched him on the shoulder.

“Ow!” Rainer overreacted and I playfully rolled my eyes.

We both laughed.

I looked at Rainer.

“Anyone would be lucky to have you, Rainer. I hope you realize that” I told him.

Rainer smiled.

“I’m only like this now because of you, you know? I wasn’t even like this when I had my mate” he said with a sigh.

“Would you want to meet her again? Your former mate, I mean?” I asked curiously.

Rainer nodded.

“I do, actually. I want to meet her again and tell her that I’m sorry for not being able to give her the bare minimum” he said.

I nodded.

“Would you ever consider going back to her?” I asked.

Rainer shook his head.

“I don’t deserve her, Liviana. I couldn’t give her what she needed in a mate back then. I have no right to go back to her” he said.

I pouted.

“You’re a different person now, Rainer” I said.

Rainer slightly smiled.

“If you were her, would you give me another chance?” he asked.

“No” I answered immediately.

Rainer frowned at me.

I laughed.

“I’m kidding, Rainer” I told him.

Rainer pouted.

“Anyway, I wouldn’t know. I never met her and I’m sure that I’m nothing like her because if I was your mate back then and you just ignored me, I would’ve deeply appreciated it because I wasn’t the biggest fan of relationships back then” I said chuckling.

“But the point here is, you’ve become a better person and I’m sure a better partner as well considering how you’ve been with Luke and I. Give yourself a chance, Rainer. I don’t think I’d like watching you grow old alone because of unrequited love” I said.

Rainer chuckled and nodded.

“You have a point” he said.

“It’s true that you’re both the complete opposite of each other” Rainer added.

We chuckled.

Then, there was a knock on the door and El peaked in.

“Hey” I greeted him.

“Hey. The food is ready downstairs” he said.

I nodded.

“Rainer and I will go down in a moment” I told him.

El nodded and gave me a look when he glanced at Rainer.

El cleared his throat and left.

I turned to look at Rainer.

“I want to see you off tomorrow” I told him.

Rainer nodded.

“Of course, your highness” he said and ruffled my hair.

Then, we looked at the scenery for the last time before we go down.

I’m really back in Crescent Moon.

I’ve missed this place so much.
