Liviana’s POV

I smiled as I watched Luke in front as he interacted with the other pups.

Luke looked even happier than ever.

My heart felt so full just by watching him like this.

Luke is only 3 years but I already feel so anxious thinking how he’d grow up.

I don’t want him to grow up too fast.

I want him to stay this carefree, happy and innocent.

I don’t want him to end up with a past like mine.

Although it has taught me a lot of things and it had made me the person that I am now, I still wouldn’t want my own child to go through all that pain.

I’d sacrifice myself over and over again for that not to happen to my child.

“What’s going on in your mind?” Luan suddenly appeared as he gave me a back hug.

I smiled.

“There’s a lot of people here, you know” I pointed out.

The party is still on going and there are tons of guests young and old in the room.

“Oh I know” he said chuckling.

I chuckled in disbelief.

“So, what are you thinking?” he asked again.

I sighed as I kept looking at Luke.

“I don’t think I want Luke to grow up” I said with a chuckle.

Luan chuckled as well.

“I don’t think that’s possible, baby” he said.

I slightly pouted.

“I know” I told him with a sigh.

Luan me go as he went beside me and held me by the waist instead.

He pulled me closer to him and gave me a k**s on my temple.

“It’ll be fine” he assured me.

I nodded.

“Your Highness, there’s a situation by the borders” a guard suddenly approached me.

My brows furrowed.

“A situation? Where’s Rainer?” I asked.

“Captain Rainer is already by the border, your highness” the guard said.

I sighed and nodded.

I glanced at Luan.

“I’ll need to go. Look after Luke” I said.

Luan sighed and nodded before placing a k**s on my forehead.

“Be careful” he told me.

I nodded.

“I will” I said.

I looked at the guard and gave him a nod.

“Let’s go” I said.

The guard nodded and we headed out immediately.

I couldn’t tell Luke because it might upset him.

I just need to get back as soon as possible after dealing with the problem.

“Your Highness, you can ride my back till we get to the borders” the guard suggested.

I nodded.

The guard shifted immediately.

After that, he lowered himself and I got on his back.

Then, we made our way towards the borders.

I closed my eyes and saw the situation from the borders.

My brows furrowed seeing the unfamiliar wolves by the borders that are being captured by my men.

After a while, we reached the borders.

Everyone glanced at my direction and I hopped off the guard’s back.

“Your Highness” my men bowed to me.

I gave them a nod.

“What’s happening here?” I asked and glanced at the unfamiliar wolves with furrowed brows.

“Rogues. They said they were just passing by and was curious. I highly doubt it” Rainer said.

I raised my brow as I looked at the wolves.

“What are you rogues doing here?” I asked in a stern voice.

One of the wolves suddenly growled at me.

My mens’ brows furrowed as they restrained the wolf.

“How dare you growl at the Queen” one of my men growled at the wolf.

I just shook my head.

“What are we going to do with them?” Rainer asked me.

Take them to the dungeons for questioning.

I’ll be right there after I go back to the palace to talk to everyone about the situation.

“Okay. I’ll wait for you at the dungeons” Rainer said.

I nodded.

“Take her highness back” Rainer told the guard I was with earlier.

The guard gave a small nod to Rainer and lowered himself instead.

I looked back at the wolves again and saw them fiercely glaring at them.

My brows furrowed at them.

They had these unsettling awra on them.

It made me feel unease and anxious.

I didn’t know why but I was sure that these wolves were up to no good.

I’m not sure if I’m threir target but what I’m sure of is that they have something they needed or wanted to do.

And it’s not something I would like.

But why?

To think that they would come all the way here and risk themselves like this so boldly.

The guard and I made our way back to the palace.

The party was still on going.

I came inside immediately and searched for Luke.

I saw him being held by Kaley.

I sighed in relief and rushed to them.

“Liv, you’re back. Luan said you were out to do something” Kaley said as soon as she saw me.

“I did” I said.

“Mommy” Luke said.

“What happened? Is everything okay?” Kaley asked.

“I’m not sure yet but I think we’ll need to wrap up the party early” I told her.

Kaley looked confused but nodded.

“I’ll deliver the message to our grandparents” she told me.

I nodded in agreement.

“I’ll take Luke upstairs” I told her.

Kaley nodded.

“I’ll follow later when everyone is gone already” she said.

I nodded again and we parted ways.

I looked around.

There was anything off yet.

It seemed like everything was still in place but that didn’t ease my mind.

There was something going on and I had to find out what it was.

“Liviana” Luan came to my side.

“What’s wrong? You look wary” he pointed out.

I sighed.

“I don’t know. I don’t know what’s wrong and that’s the problem” I told him.

Luan’s brows furrowed in confusion.

“What do you mean?” he said.

“It’s complicated, Luan. And too early to know. Can you help Kaley and the others wrap up? I’m taking Luke upstairs” I said.

Luan sighed and nodded.

“Thank you” I said and headed upstairs.

I rushed to my room while holding Luke protectively.

My senses were heightened more than ever.

Even Amara felt uneasy.

We couldn’t see anything wrong but something still felt off.

I was cautious more than ever.

We were able to reach my bedroom and I locked it.

I went to the bed with Luke and sat there with him on my lap.

I looked at Luke and saw that he had an unusual expression on his face.

“Are you okay, bud?” I asked.

Luke nodded.

“Yes, mommy” he said.

“Are you sure? You can tell anything to mommy, okay?” I told him.

Luke nodded again.

“I know, mommy” he said.

I sighed as I cupped his face.

Why does he look troubled?

Or maybe it was just my imagination?

Maybe I’m over thinking it?

“Mommy, I’m sleepy” he said.

I gave him a small smile and nodded.

I removed Luke’s shoes and got him a fresh set of clothes to change into before he could take his nap.

After that, I tucked him in and laid beside him.

I hummed a lullaby for Luke as he hugged me.

I felt his body relax and I felt relieved.

Luke’s scent calmed me down and made me feel at ease.

Rainer already reported to me that the rogues are already in the dungeons.

Once Luke fell asleep, there was a subtle knock on the door.

I carefully made my way out of the bed.

“Liv, it’s Kaley” I heard from the other side of the door.

I stood there for a moment as I tried to get Kaley’s scent and immediately confirmed it was hers and uncle Dante and Luan’s.

I opened the door and they had a worried look on their face.

“Are you okay?” Kaley asked worried.

I nodded and let them in.

“Please look after Luke for me. I need to go to the dungeons to question the rogues with Rainer” I said.

Kaley nodded and hugged me.

“Be careful” she said.

I nodded and glanced at uncle Dante and Luan.

“I’ll stay here” uncle Dante said.

“I’ll come with you” Luan said.

I nodded to the both of them.

“Luan and I will go” I said.

The both of them nodded.

Luan and I made our way out of the room.

“What’s happening?” he asked.

“There are rogues” I told him.

“And?” he asked with brows furrowed.

I glanced at Luan.

“I think something is up. I saw the rogues earlier and they don’t seem like rogues who just wander off here to get into trouble. I’m not sure what’s up but I don’t feel good about it” I explained.

Luan nodded.

We made our way downstairs and outside where guards were waiting.

The guards carried us in their backs and dropped us off at the dungeons.

We were greeted by guards and warriors guarding the dungeons and I gave all of them a nod.

“Liviana” Rainer greeted me.

“Where are they?” I asked.

“They’re inside” Rainer said and pointed to a door.

“They haven’t said anything about why they’re actually here. They keep saying that they simply got lost” he told me.

I chuckled in disbelief.

“Yeah right” I said and made my way inside the room.

I burst it open and saw 3 men in the room chained to the ground.

As soon as one saw me, he tried to attack me while the other two slightly backed away.

Rainer immediately stood in front of me protectively.

I lightly shoved him to the side.

“Who are you and what are you doing here?” I said with my jaw clenched.

The man looked at me with pure hatred.

“Finally. After all these years. I can face you on” he said in gritted teeth.

I crossed my arms in front of my chest as I raised a brow at him.

“And who are you exactly?” I said.

His jaw clenched.

“I’m the father of the boy you killed that night along with others almost 4 years ago” he said.

My brows furrowed again.

“What?” I spat.

“At the night of the b***d moon” he said.

Then, it came back to me.

The night that I acquired my healing powers.

The night that Blake almost died because of the rogues.

“You killed my son. And I’m going to make sure that you feel the pain that I did all these years” he growled.

My eyes slightly widened and they suddenly glowed gold as my hands lit up on fire.

I grabbed the man by the neck as my jaw clenched and I saw red.

“Don’t even think of laying a finger on my son” I said as I choked him while his skin burned on my hold.

Suddenly, he smirked.

“T-too late” he choked out.

I gulped.

Luke…

Luke is in danger.

My son is in danger.
