Livianaâs POV
I closed my eyes tightly as I took deep breaths.
Using my healing power definitely drains me.
Itâs like my own life force was being drained out of me.
And that might actually be the case.
âH-how did youâ¦L-livianaâ Dante said as he looked at me wide eyed.
I turned to look at Edmond and he had the same shocked expression.
Like they couldnât believe what just happened.
If I was in their place, I wouldnât have believed it too.
âY-you h-healed meâ Dante stated and I struggled to stand up only to plop back to the bed as Dante caught me.
âLivianaâ he said worried as he held me.
âIâm tiredâ I said as my eyes closed involuntarily.
I didnât know how long I slept but it couldnât have been long.
But I did feel recharged now.
I sat up and looked around.
I was still in Danteâs bed.
I got off the bed and headed down to the living room and saw Dante there. He immediately turned around to look at me when he sensed my presence.
âLivianaâ he said as he stood up in worry.
âIâm completely okay now. Whereâs Edmond?â I asked him as I went to the kitchen to get a glass of water.
âHe went to the dungeon to check on the prisoners. Are you really okay?â he asked. I nodded.
âI havenât used my ability a lot. This is the 2nd time I did but my recovery was definitely faster since your wound wasnât as bad as the first one I didâ I told him. His brows furrowed.
âThe first time you used it?â he asked again. I nodded again.
âYes. Also the first time I acquired it. It was the night that Blake was attacked by rogues and he was basically close to deathâ I said.
âSo youâve had that ability for on a whileâ he said.
âYesâ I confirmed.
âHow?â he asked curiously.
âMy mom. Sheâ¦gave it to meâ I said almost in a whisper.
âPrincess Dianaâ he muttered.
âYou met her?â he asked.
âYes. I meet her in my dreams every now and thenâ I told him.
âDid she ever tell you how she got it?â he asked further. I shook my head.
âShe didnât. I didnât ask either. I never thought about it before but I think Iâll ask her when we meet againâ I said noting it to myself.
My mother never told me how she got her powers even after she had passed it on to me.
But then again, I never asked.
Now, I probably will.
Did she have it before she became a guardian or after she became a guardian?
I noted every question I could think of about the topic.
I wasnât the curious type.
But I guess, I am now.
Edmond burst into the pack house with a guard behind him and his eyes landed on us in the living room.
âAlpha, theyâre ready nowâ he said and I nodded in understanding.
I put the glass down in the table in the living room and we made our way out of pack house.
âAlpha, how are you feeling now?â Edmond asked me worried.
âI feel completely fineâ I assured him and he nodded with a small encouraging smile.
Edmond and the guard earlier shifted into their wolves and I rode on the back of Edmond while Dante rode on the back of the guard.
We made our way to the dungeon.
âLiviana, are you really okay?â Amaris reached out to me.
âYes, Amaris. I feel completely fine nowâ I assured her.
âDiana and I are very worried about you, Livianaâ she replied.
âIâm sorry. I just had to do something about Danteâs injuryâ I replied back.
âWe know but please refrain by using your abilities for now since you arenât very used to it yetâ she replied. I agreed.
âIâll keep that in mindâ I replied and we cut the link as we arrived by the dungeon.
Dante and I got off and Edmond and the guarded shifted back to their human form as 2 guards from the dungeon handed them some clothes to change into.
We waited for Edmond and as soon as heâs all dressed up, we made our way inside with 4 guards behind us.
We reached the cells of our captives and I immediately saw the pack doctor there waiting for us.
âGood afternoon, Alphaâ the doctor bowed his head to me.
âGood afternoon, Doctor. Thank you for being hereâ I said and he gave me a smile.
âTransfer them into the torture room immediatelyâ I commanded the guards.
âYes, Alphaâ they said and did as they were told.
The guards opened up the cells.
They restrained the 2 wolves with silver cuffs in their arms, legs and necks then took them out of the cells.
We followed them as we headed to the torture room.
âEdmond, have you prepared our last resort?â I asked without taking my eyes off the captives.
âYes, Alphaâ he said.
âGoodâ I said satisfied.
We reached the torture room and the guards sat the captives on a chair across from each other.
âWhat pity for the both of youâ I said as I crossed my arms in front of my chest.
They both growled and snarled at me but I can sense their anxiety in fear.
Pathetic.
âYou seem young. You couldâve lived longer but chose a stupid way to end your miserable lifeâ I said to the rogue.
He looked at me pissed as he growled, snarled and snapped at me.
âAnd youâ¦â I said turning to the traitor.
âYou couldâve lived your life inside a secured pack but chose to betray it insteadâ I said with a growl.
I composed myself again as I took a calming breath.
âYouâre both extremely patheticâ I said in a cold tone as I gave them an icy glare.
They both lowered their heads in embarrassment as they clenched their jaws.
âNow, letâs have some fun, shall we?â I said as I made my way between the both of them.
I glanced at both of them once.
âEither you willingly participate in this or I force you to participate in this. Itâs an easy choice but thatâs still up to the both of youâ I said with a yawn.
âFirst of allâ¦â I said and turned to look at the rogue.
âWhy my pack?â I asked coldly. He looked away with a snarl. I raised a brow.
âNo? Okay, then. The hard way it isâ I said as I looked at the pack doctor. He nodded and made his way to the back of the rogue as a guard assisted him with his stuff.
The rogue growled, snarled and snapped at them.
The doctor took out a syringe with a needle and he lightly tapped it as he placed his hand on the neck of the rogue.
âDonât fcking touch me!â the rogue growled but the pack doctor continued on and injected him with the wolfâs bane.
The rogue gasped as it quickly took effect and he squirmed in his seat in pain.
Ahâ¦wolfâs bane.
The rogue screamed in pain as he squirmed in his seat.
Wolfâs bane is extremely painful to us. It doesnât kill us immediately but it does in fact, slow our healing.
With a certain amount of dosage, itâs torture to us.
But when overdosed, it can be fatal to us and can lead us to our deaths.
I turned to look at the traitor as fear was written all over his face.
âAs for youâ¦â I started and he looked at me as hw composed himself and glared at me.
âWhy did you betray the pack?â I said almost in a growl.
âBecause of you!â he growled at me. I raised a brow.
âI cannot accept a she-wolf as an Alpha!â he growled again and I clenched my fists but kept my composure.
âYou couldâve left the pack insteadâ I barked back but he only looked away.
âWhat did they promise you in return?â I asked again and he met my eyes but quickly lowered his gaze.
He didnât answer.
I chuckled in disbelief.
âInject himâ I said and the pack doctor did just that as the traitor tried hard not to get injected by the wolfâs bane.
I turned to look at the rogue again and walked towards him before yanking his hair so he can look at me.
He growled at me weakly.
âTell me why. Nowâ I said sternly as I gripped his hair tighter making hin g***n.
âItâs because of youâ he said with an annoying grin. I raised a brow at him.
âBecause we believe we can easily take on your pack when a helpless Alpha like you is leading the packâ he said and my b***d boiled immediately.
Me? Helpless?
âIâll show you what helpless looks likeâ I said as I smiled mischievously. I saw the rogue gulp.
I let him go and turned to look at the traitor again.
âIf Iâm being honest, I only need one of you alive. Atleast for nowâ I said as I slowly walked towards the traitor.
âNow, tell me. Tell me everything. Tell me what they promised to give you in return. Tell me what theyâre planning next. Tell me every single thing or so help me, Iâll let you meet the devil right here. Right nowâ I warned them as my eyes glowed gold.
The traitor gulped and looked away again.
âYou wonât talk? Okay, thenâ I said and glanced at Edmond.
âGet her here nowâ I told Edmond and he nodded. The traitor looked at me confused.
Dante just looked at me.
Then Edmond came back with a woman beside him.
The traitor immediately reacted to her presence.
His mate.
âWhat is she doing here?! She doesnât have anything to do with this!â he growled.
The woman looked at his mate as her eyes watered with tears.
âBe thankful that I didnât bring your kids along. You put your own family in danger for what you have done. Pay for itâ I growled at him.
I took out a knife and circled the woman.
Edmond had talked to her beforehand and I would never really hurt her.
I simply needed to scare her mate.
Sheâs a loyal pack member and I wouldnât have put her in this situation if I didnât have to.
âTell me now or watch what I can do to your precious mateâ I warned him as I used the tip of the blade to raise the womanâs chin.
I felt her stiffen in fear.
âNo! Donât touch her!â the traitor growled and I smirked at him.
âTalkâ I said and he gulped before glancing at the rogue.
âThey promised to make me the head of the guards and to set me and my family for life. T-they plan on taking over every land in the area and more. T-that all I know! Please!â he begged as the rogue growled at him.
âTraitor!â the rogue shouted and I almost chuckle.
âIt wasnât that hard now, wasnât it?â I said as I handed Dante the knife and he took it.
âNow, for the actual hard part. I canât let you stay here in my pack nor can I let you go rogue because you will surely comebackâ I started and glanced at the woman.
âYou have a wife and a family waiting for you back at home but we both know that you wonât be coming back to them nowâ I said coldly.
âDeath is your punishmentâ I stated and I feel the woman stiffen beside me.
âBut Iâm not heartless. Iâm giving you a chance to reject your mate so she can move on with her life and raise your kids. Or she can die of grief after your own death. You can choose to be selfless or to be selfishâ I said eyeing him.
I see his eyes that are full of both rage and regret.
Then he looked at his mate as she cried and sobbed.
He looked down in defeat.
âI rejectâ¦â he started and said his mateâs name.
ââ¦as my mateâ he finished and looked up at his mate again. They both looked at each in the eyes one last time.
âI acceptâ the woman said and she immediately fall to her knees but Edmond caught her as she and the traitor both squirmed in pain at the rejection.
After a while, the woman fainted and she was carried out by the guards.
The traitor looked limp.
âYou monsterâ the rogue muttered and I looked at him blankly.
âChoose your opponent wisely. I can do anything to protect my pack from people like you. If that makes me a monster, I wonder what you areâ I said.
I laid my hands in front of Dante to get the knife from earlier.
âIâll finish itâ he insisted but I shook my head.
âDonât get your hands filthy. Iâll do it myselfâ I said as I grabbed the knife from him.
I made my way in front of the traitor.
âYou chose thisâ I said before I took his life with my own hands.
