Livianaâs POV
âItâll only be for the weekend, Luanâ I said as Luan pouted like a child at me.
âWhat am I supposed to do while youâre gone?â he asked.
I chuckled.
âI donât know. Go spend some time with your boyfriend, I guessâ I teased.
Luan frowned.
âWhat boyfriend?â he asked in displeasure.
âElâ I said and burst out laughing.
Luan did not look the least bit amused with my joke.
Since Luan has been staying with me in the pack house, heâs spent as much time as he does with me with El.
Specially during the past week since Iâve been really busy with planning with my uncle for our mission.
âCome on, Luan. Itâll only be a few daysâ I said as I cupped his face while he pouted.
âCanât I come?â he asked for the nth time.
âIâm sorry but noâ I said apologetically.
He couldnât.
He mustnât.
I was going against his father after all.
How could I put him through that?
Luan sighed.
âFine but you have to update me as much as you canâ he said in defeat as he pulled me to his lap and hugged me from the back.
I smiled but it didnât reach my ears.
Suddenly, I was having second thoughts if I wanted to go.
It was a dangerous mission.
One that can cause me my life.
But I still needed to go.
No matter how terrifying it was.
I stood up again and sat back on Luanâs lap while facing him.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and gave him a small smile.
âIâll miss youâ I blurted out.
Luam looked surprised but he grinned and smiled.
âThen donât leaveâ he insisted.
I chuckled.
âI wish I didnât have to. But I need toâ I said with a sad smile.
Luan held my face as he caressed it with his thumb.
âThen, come back quicklyâ he said and I smiled then nodded.
Luan pulled me closer to him so that his body and my body was pressed against each other.
I buried my face on his neck as I took in his scent.
Iâll miss this.
Iâll miss him.
âI love you, you know that right?â Luan suddenly said.
I looked at him as he gave me a small smile.
It was as if we were saying goodbye.
It wasnât the case but it felt that way.
I gave Luan a k**s and smiled.
âYeah, I knowâ I said and he chuckled.
âI canât live without you, Liviana. I have no other purpose without you. Thatâs how much you mean to me and moreâ he said as he leaned his forehead on mine.
My heart skipped a beat.
I placed my hand on his face as I smiled.
âYouâre quite the romantic, are you?â I said and he chuckled.
âYouâre realizing that just now?â he asked with a chuckle.
I laughed.
I donât want to leave.
Then, there was a knock on the door and we both turned to see who it was only to see my uncle there.
âLiviana, are you ready to go?â he asked.
No.
I nodded and got up from Luanâs lap.
âYeah. Iâll be right downâ I said and Dante nodded.
Luan grabbed my bag from my bed and held my hand before intertwining it with his.
âLetâs go. Iâll see you offâ he said and I nodded in agreement.
Luan and I got out of the room and went downstairs.
My uncle, Edmond, El, Theresa and Alex were already waiting for me in the living room.
They all turned to look at us when we came down.
âWeâre heading offâ my uncle declared as he made his way to the door.
âBe careful the both of youâ Edmond reminded.
Everyone went out to see us off.
âCome back safelyâ Alex said.
I stood in front of all of them and gave them a small smile.
âWeâll go on aheadâ I said and they lowered their head to me in respect.
I looked at Luan.
He still looked hesitant to let me go but he didnât have much of a choice either.
âGet back safelyâ he said and I nodded.
Luan pulled me in for a k**s and gave me a k**s on the forehead when we parted.
I waved everyone goodbye and got inside the car with my uncle.
We drove off.
I didnât dare look back.
My heart was pounding inside of my chest.
âDonât worry, weâll be able to go backâ my uncle assured me.
I gave him a small smile as I focused myself on looking out of the window.
I really hope things go well.
I ended up just staring at the car window the whole time.
I was anxious and I couldnât sleep no matter hoe hard I tried.
I had little conversations with Luan in between through our link.
It was the only thing keeping me sane.
But finally, we reached an inn a town awa from our target location and we checked in for the night.
We got out and took our stuff.
I washed up first and Dante went after.
I checked our baggage and took out the things weâd need for tomorrow.
âIs it complete?â Dante asked.
I nodded.
Then, there was an uncomfortable silence.
âJust so you know, Liviana, Iâm still against this whole mission of ours. I only agreed to it because if I didnât, youâd push through by yourselfâ my uncle said with a sigh.
I chuckled.
It was true.
I wouldâve done it even without anyoneâs help.
âIf what everyone says is true about me, then I should be able to do this atleast. If I canât save and protect my own family, how can I rule not one but two territories?â I said a matter of fact.
Dante looked at me for a moment.
âSo youâve really decided to live up to your fateâ he said and smiled proudly.
âI haveâ I said confidently.
Dante smiled.
âThatâs my nieceâ he said and I smiled.
After that, we both took a rest.
But I couldnât really calk it that.
I could feel how anxious we both were.
Iâve talked to Luan earlier and told him I was already going to slip but that was just an excuse of mine.
I didnât want him to know how troubled I really was.
Around midnight, we got prepared to leave.
Dante carried the duffle bag as we went out and made our way to the woods.
Then, I shifted into my wolf.
The light of the full moon reflected on my fur as it shone brightly.
Dante took out a bottle from the bag and started to spray and rub it into my fur and onto his body.
It was a masking perfume to hide both of our scents as we crossed the palace borders.
Then, I lowered myself to let him on my back.
Dante got on and once he was all settled in, I started to make my way through the woods.
The plan was not to confront as many guards as possible as we entered the territory.
There would be a secret passage somewhere inside the palace territory where it could lead to the palace basement.
It didnât take long for me to reach the next town and we were already much closer to the palace borders.
âLiviana, weâre getting closerâ Dante informed me.
After a few minutes, we saw the borders.
There were guards surrounding the whole territory and some were patrolling around because I could clearly smell their scents.
Dante and I hid behind a bush and he got off of me.
He turned around as he watched the few guards while I shifted back to my human form.
I reached into the duffel bag and took out a camouflage overalls, brunette short hair wig, a pair of green contact lenses and a watch.
I slipped into my clothes, popped in the contact lenses and fixed my hair to put on the wig.
Then, I went to Danteâs side and he turned to look at me.
He blinked profusely as he stared at me.
I knew he wanted to say something but couldnât in fear of getting heard.
I mustâve looked very different.
It was part of the plan.
We couldnât risk getting my identity found out by anyone during the rescue mission.
We waited patiently for the guards to lower their guard down.
I looked at the watch.
2 minutes.
I counted back in my head.
And just in time, the guards left for their break and theyâd be switched by another set of guards in 3 minutes.
As soon as the guards were out of sight, we made our way pass the border and sprinted into the way to the secret passage.
Just before we reached it, I caught a glimpse of the new guards and we hid ourselves just in time.
I gulped as my heart rate quickened.
Dante held my hand and I looked at him.
He gave me small nod and I took a deep calming breath.
We made our way inside the passage.
Instead of using a flashlight, we used our wolvesâ visions instead to walk through the dark.
It took quite a while for us to finally reached the end of the passage which led to the palace basement.
Dante and I quietly moved a cover and pushed aside a cabinet to make a small space.
We tried to use our senses to figure out if someone was around.
Fortunately, there wasnât.
At this time, the inside of the palace has no personnel roaming around.
The only guards were by the entrance and the Kingâs hallway which we didnât need to access.
The hallway to the library was a separate one so it was easier to access without getting caught.
We pushed the cabinet aside and put it back again.
We stopped for a moment.
I needed to find that link again to let my fathers know that we were already here.
I clenched my fist as I focused on finding the link.
Then, I found it.
âHello?â I called out.
âLiviana?â
âLivi?â
Bingo.
âItâs me. Weâre hereâ I let them know.
âWe?â
âYes. We donât have much time. Prepare yourselvesâ I said and cut the link.
I gave a small nod to Dante.
Then, we made our way upstairs to go out of the basement and into the ball room.
We cautiously looked around to check for guards but the scents were faint to none meaning they were somewhere else.
We stealthily made our way to the same hallway I was in during that night of the ball.
When we peeked in, we saw two guards outside the library doors.
My brows furrowed and my jaw clenched.
How troublesome.
The distance from where we hid from the distance where we the guards stood was pretty distant.
If we didnât want to be found out, we needed to move quickly.
With one mistake, everything will go downhill.
Dante and I eyed each other then we gave a little nod as a go signal.
He secured the bag on his body and we took in a deep breath.
Our eyes glowed on sync as we prepared to make our move.
As soon as the guards turned their heads away from our direction, we lunged forward in a swift move.
We saw the sudden flustered expression on their face but it was too late for them to react as we snapped their heads.
Their lifeless bodies fell to the floor and we dragged them inside of the library and locked it.
I then motioned for Dante to follow me to the passage leading down to the underground dungeon.
Once we reached the hidden passage, I slightly opened it to determine how many were guarding the area.
1â¦
2â¦
3â¦
4â¦
5â¦
6â¦
There were 6.
Dante and I looked at each other once more as we communicated through our eyes.
We opened up the passage and left it slightly open for when we get out.
We made our way down the stairs as we kept alert.
Once we reached the last step, I peeked to look at the guards and saw 2 guards.
Dante peeked as well and we glanced at each other.
I raised my hand up as I counted down with my fingers.
3â¦
2â¦
1â¦GO!
We got out of hiding and forwarded to the guards.
Shock was drawn over their face and they tried to pull their swords but we didnât give them the chance.
I held the other guard by the neck and covered his mouth before slamming him onto the wall harshly.
He squirmed in my hold as I deprived him of oxygen.
I watched as his life faded from his eyes.
Then, his body became limp as he took his last breath.
I threw his body to the wall as it fell on the ground lifeless.
I turned to look at Dante and he had already finished the other guard.
We made our way to where the cells were and saw 4 guards guarding each cell door.
I pointed to the celk where King Kale was and let Dante know Iâd be going for that cell.
He nodded in understanding.
We gave each other a go signal as soon as we heard loud thumping inside the cell.
The guards were too late to see us because of the little destruction and we were able to get take them on easily.
I slammed one guard to the wall while the other pulled out his sword.
I caught the blade with my hands and b***d started dripping from my hand.
I smirked as I forcefully turned the sword around with all my strength.
I grinned and pushed the sword to the guards direction then pierced the sword to his own flesh.
The guard gasped as he fell to his knees and on the ground as he helplessly bled out.
I turned to the other guard as he looked at me in fear.
A sinister smile escaped my lips as I grabbed him by the neck and lifted him up in the air as he struggled.
My eyes glowed brightly.
âDieâ I muttered and ripped his head off his body then threw it away.
My chest heaved up and down as I turned to look at Danteâs direction.
He finished up the last guard and let go of his lifeless body.
Then, he turned to look at me.
I took out 2 hairpins and we started unlocking the locks on the cell.
We opened it and I stood there as I stared at my fatherâs figure standing up waiting without his chains on him.
His brows furrowed as he looked at me.
I made my way to him.
âItâs time to goâ I said.
His eyes widened.
âLiviana?â he muttered.
I smiled and nodded.
âThe one and onlyâ I said.
