I avoided contact with anyone for a whole two days, and it was the best two days I've had in a very long time. Food was brought to me on a tray and left outside my bedroom, and to take the short trip from the window seat to the door was the only time I ever left the comfort of the golden blanket.

I occasionally smelt Kaden's scent lingering outside my room, his natural musk clinging to the doorframe. But he never knocked, he never spoke to me and he never came in.

He left me alone and I'm grateful because I needed time, and I know that he does too.

He needs time to get used to being back at his pack, to get business back on track, and he can't do that whilst I'm skulking around begging for his attention without having to say anything.

But now I'm ready to return to the real world and leave the confinement of my room, and I think he's ready for me to leave too.

I hear the knock on the door that tells me that breakfast is ready if I want to come down, and I think I make the poor girl outside jump ten feet in the air when I open the door.

"Yes, I know breakfast is ready, and yes today I'm ready to come down."

The girl looks startled, her eyes wide and blinking rapidly, her mouth slightly open as she makes fish-like movements which makes me smile.

"Shall we?" I gesture down the hallway, seemingly snapping the girl back to reality. "Because I'm kinda hungry..."

"Yeah, sure!" The girl chirps overcheerfully. "I hope you're hungry, because there's extra today!"

I roll my eyes when she's not looking at me before putting on the fakest smile I can muster. She guides me down the same corridor and down the same set of steps, this time multiple pairs of little shoes once again littering the floor for me to step over.

I push open the ornate wooden doors, and every pair of eyes in the room are staring my way. Little pups with streaky bacon hanging from their baby fangs are staring at me with wide eyes, whilst their mother's push up their slack jaws, their gazes never leaving mine.

"This almost seems like a bad idea." I mutter to myself, stepping backwards until I collide into a body. "I think I'll enjoy my breakfast in my roo..."

"I think you should enjoy your breakfast with me." A familiar, deep voice grumbles close to my ear, shockwaves rippling out from the spot of skin his fingers are placed on. "I feel like we have some catching up to do."

He ushers me forward towards his office, away from the eyes of his pack members, which I'm grateful for. Most of them look unamused at my presence so I can't wait to shut the door.

Kaden goes in first, and when I follow after him, he closes the door quickly behind me, revealing a small table for two, covered in a checkered blanket and topped with a vase with a single flower in it. "What is this?"

Kaden scratches the back of his neck awkwardly, offering me an embarrassed smile. "I haven't been acting like the mate you deserve as of late."

"You don't say." I quip sarcastically, his eyes narrowing into slits as he glares at me.

"Lola, please." He strains, walking over to one of the chairs and pulling it out. "Just sit down, and let me try make things up to you."

I take a look at the chair and hesitate, my brain deliberating my options. I will have to forgive him eventually, because he's my mate and eventually the pull will win out over my stubbornness. But who says that I can't hold out a little longer?

"Maybe another time." I say, heading towards the door. I watch his face fall in disappointment, and I almost cave at how downtrodden he looks. "I kind of want to eat by myself."

Emphasis on almost.

"Then why did you leave your room?" Kaden sighs, sitting down on the chair he pulled out for me. "If you wanted to eat by yourself, then why get my hopes up by coming down here?"

"Two can play the game of hurting feelings." I say quietly, and I watch his blue eyes snap up to hold my gaze. "Now you know how it feels."

Now Kaden does growl, dragging a hand down his face, and when he opens his eyes again they're glowing red. "That's not fair. You caught me at a bad time an..."

"So is that how you're going to react every time I catch you at a bad moment, huh? Treat me like a damn child and embarrass me in front of everyone?!"

I can feel my temper rising, my nostrils flaring with every laboured breath I make in an attempt to calm myself down. The one thing I find hardest to control is my anger, and I feel my control slipping as my claws extend into the chair I'm grasping, puncturing small holes in the leather. "Do you know how stupid that makes me feel?!"

I can only feel my anger growing, my vision turning red as my gums split and my fangs descend, power surging through me like I've been electrocuted. Kaden is looking at me with wide eyes, his mouth open in what looks like horror. This has never happened before, not even when Shiva has been in control. I've never felt the pure fury and power coursing through my veins, and it's scaring me. "Kaden, I don't know what's happening to me."

Kaden jumps up from his seat the second the words leave my mouth and wraps his arms around me, crushing my nose into the crook of his neck, his scent clogging my nostrils at an alarming rate. No matter how hard my body struggles to get out of his grasp, like it's been possessed, his grip only becomes firmer, forcing my body to mould with his. "Lola, calm down."

His voice has my body submitting, my anger vanishing, my control returning. His voice is relieving, like drugs to an addict, and I find my arms going aorund his neck as he whispers apology after apology into my ear like a sweet nothing.

Once he lets me go, my body starts quaking uncontrollably, my head becoming light. I can feel my knees buckling, and then everything goes dark, the last thing I see is Kaden lunging for me before I hit the floor.

I'm standing in a field coloured completely white. Each blade of glass is white, the sky is white, hell even the treeline is void of any colour. It's like every pigment of colour, and every shade and shadow in this scene has been sucked away, leaving a landscape desolate of anything.

The only things with any colour are myself, who still looks the same with the same clothes on that I went to breakfast in, and the sun. Only instead of the sun looking almost yellow, it is burning a hot, angry red colour, the tips of it's rays touching the edge of the horizon.

I wander around in a way that appears aimlessly, only my legs are working of their own accord, taking me in a direction forcefully. It's like I'm in my body but have no control of anything from the neck down.

I walk towards the edge of what looks like a cliff, where what I'm assuming is water is cascading off like water from a tap, spray and water tumbling in every direction. I look over the edge and can't even see the mist that would be there if there wasn't no colour. It's just a sheet of opaque white that cuts off the cliff face.

And then it opens, splitting straight down the middle, prisms of light streaking through the cracks.

"What the?" I step back, the colour blinding my eyes. I cover them and crouch down, the light searing through my skin and making my eyes burn.

Until I hear a voice, calm and melodic. It instantly soothes me, relaxes my muscles, removes the pain from my eyes. Makes me want to uncover them.

"Lola."

It doesn't speak again until I open my eyes, and let them settle on the figure the voice came from. She's hovering over the edge of the cliff, a white dress flowing all around her, clinging to every curve of her dark skin. Her curly, brown hair is flowing around her like she's underwater, moving around with a mind of it's own. Her eyes are closed, almost like she's asleep, but I know she's not, because she smiles when I can't help but speak to her.

"You're beautiful."

She shows her perfect white teeth and reveals dimples on either cheek, her smile turning into a laugh, and her laugh bringing a smile on my own face as a result. Her laugh is even more melodic than her voice, the rich sound making my body feel warm, my toes going tingly.

"You honour me with your compliment, Lola Lattimore." She says, her feet landing down on the white ground, every step creating colour wherever she touches. "But I have brought you here for a purpose."

"You brought me here..." I trail off, my mind trying to understand. "How could you..."

She opens her eyes, and all that is there is white. No pupil, no colour, just a bright white that looks like it's glowing. "I think you know who I am Lola."

I instantly fall to my knees, my head bowed low. "Luna, I dishonour you."

"For what?" She chuckles, her hand going underneath my chin and forcing me to look at her. "Not instantly recognising me when you've never seen me before? You could never dishonour me, your heart is too pure."

"What did you bring me here for, Luna?" I ask when she pulls me to my feet. "Is it important?"

She nods her head gravely, her lips pulled together in a frown. "I'm afraid so, and you and Kaden are the only ones who can fix it."

"How?" I splutter, my mind reeling from this information.

She smiles, instantly calming my nerves. "You must bring all the supernatural together before the blood moon at the end of this year."

"Why?" I panic, my mind thinking on overdrive. "I don't even know any supernatural, other than..." my mind thinks back to the vampire boy, the stake through his heart and his body drained of blood. "That vampire..."

"Yes, Lola." The moon goddess says, as she walks towards a fallen log and sits. The log becomes it's original brown colour the second she touches it. "There is a power far darker for me to understand coming, and it needs blood in order to dominate."

"What blood?" I ask frantically.

"The blood of the supernatural will be the end of the world as we know if it in his hands." Luna says, running her hands across the moss and making it grow. "But there is one type of blood that I can stop him from getting if I warn you."

"What blood?" I beg, watching as she smiles sadly in my direction, her hand cupping my cheek.

"Yours, my child."

And then once again I black out.

My head hurts worse than a wolfsbane cider hangover when I finally come round. I feel like there's a pro wrsetling match taking place inside my skull, and they're using my skull as the ropes.

Everything is sore, my whole body aching from something. I feel like I've been training with my father for two days in a row, fight after fight causing damage and fatigue to my body.

My head is blank of anything before my vision and my memory fuzzy, the last thing I can remember is getting angry; no furious. I can remember my blood running through my veins like hot fire, but then everything after that is hazy.

My head hurts with this newfound knowledge, the weight of her trusting me sitting heavy on my shoulders.

I try to open my eyes, but they feel far too heavy for it to be normal. I try again, and by blinking rapidly I can slowly crack them open, exposing them to bright lights and an unfamiliar space.

I'm in a room no bigger than 5x5, with no furniture except for the bed I'm sat on and chairs on either side of me. There's tubes running into my arm and nose, connected to a heart rate monitor which is beeping rhythmically, and there is a wall made entirely of glass, people in blue scrubs and white lab coats running back and forth past. Kaden is sat on one of the chairs, which has been pulled close to the bed, his hand enveloping mine and his head resting on the mattress.

His blue eyes are closed, thick tendrils of his dark hair falling in front of them, and he sleeps soundly beside me as I come round.

I raise my free hand with a lot of struggle, and find myself brushing the hair from his face, allowing the thick curls to run through my fingertips. "Kaden."

Calling his name has him stirring, his eyes opening bloodshot and bleary. He looks confused over who's spoken to him as his eyes look around the room, but the second he sees me his eyes snap open and a grin forms on his face. "Lola."

I let my hand fall from his hair to his cheek and I cup it gently, letting my thumb trace the bags under his eyes. "Kaden, what happened?"

I've never seen him look so anxious before, his face full of obvious signs that he was scared, with worry lines etched into his forehead. I can feel his head lean into my palm, his eyes fluttering closed as he sighs heavily. "I've never seen you so angry." He whispers, a hand covering mine. "But there was something wrong with you."

"What?" I whisper, completely shocked.  I rip my hand from his face like his skin burns me and I hold it close to my chest. "What do you mean, something is wrong with me?"

His eyes widen, and he places both of his palms on either side of my face. "No, I didn't mean it like that Lola. I mean that when you got angry, things, weird things started happening to you, that glow..."

"What glow?" I interrupt, my mind reeling at the new information. I've never had a glow before, my dad has never told me even if I have.

Kaden sighs again, releasing a long shaky breath. "You were surrounded in a silver glow, like and aura or a bubble around your body."

I know that my mouth is opening and closing like a fish, and I bet I look pretty stupid doing it. But I can't really comprehend what's happening, or the information I'm receiving.

Luckily I'm saved by the bell, or the door opening, and a familiar man in a white lab coat walks in, wire framed spectacles perched on his nose as he reads whatever is on his clipboard, his tattoos swirling out from all the proffessionalism.

"Jasper?" I question, and he looks up from his clipboard and smiles at me, but not before bowing to Kaden. "I didn't know you were a doctor?"

"And I didn't know you were prone to fainting." Jasper smirks, walking over to my heart rate monitor. "Looks like we all have our secrets."

Kaden growls, his face showing obvious impatience, and Jasper quickly drops back into his professional, doctor like position."You're completely healthy, blood pressure is normal, as is your heart rate and brain waves. Lola there is absolutely nothing wrong with you, so I don't know why you fainted."

My eyebrows pull together in confusion, and Kaden's is a mirror of mine. "How can I just faint if there's nothing wrong with me?"

"Run every test on her." Kaden snaps, his hand resting on my covered leg. "There must be something you didn't do.."

"Alpha." Jasper cuts him off, and starts to speak before Kaden can rip his head off. "I ran every test you asked me to run, along with MRI's and CAT scans. The only thing I can think of that suggests fainting is extreme fatigue."

It suddenly clicks in my brain that my surge of anger must've caused my fainting, and one look at Kaden and he knows it too. But he doesn't say anything, and I know that if he's not talking then I won't either.

"Bed rest I suggest." Jasper comments as he writes something down on a slip of paper. If he noticed the look I shared with Kaden, then he's not admitting it. He hands the slip of paper to Kaden and gives him a meaningful look. "When I say bed rest Alpha, I mean it."

"Then bed rest she'll get Jasper, thank you."
