If she offended Rong Weiwei, who had the backing of HuanYu, at a time like this, she, a mere small fry, could be made to vanish into obscurity in the blink of an eye, with no one to even look her up.
At home, there was her mother who was eagerly waiting for her to make money, her younger siblings who wanted to study, and the villagers who were looking forward to her becoming famous and fixing the roads to help them leave the mountains behind.

Qi Yue clenched her fists, a conflicted and pained expression flickering across her face.
As the noise in the private room grew louder and the door had opened, with the hotel staff all having left, Qi Yue couldnât hold back any longer. She bit her lip, her face pale as she rushed toward the radiant woman at the center of the crowd.
âSnap!â Rong Weiweiâs wrist was suddenly firmly grasped.
Startled, she turned around and saw a small, pale-faced, trembling girl standing behind her, the very girl who had suddenly seized her hand.
She furrowed her brows; if it werenât for being in a public place, she would have lost her temper by now.
Rong Weiwei suppressed her irritation, and instead of shaking off the hand, she asked in a gently tolerant manner, though clearly impatient, âArenât you the little girl who was with Rong Yan before? Do you need something from me?â
Qi Yue mustered all her courage to grab Rong Weiweiâs wrist. At Rong Weiweiâs question, and with Shi Mufeng also looking at her, she shuddered and her heartbeat raced as if it would burst out of her throat as soon as she opened her mouth, âWhat did you do to Rong Yan!â
Rong Weiwei didnât expect a newbie to dare to make a scene in front of her. After her brief surprise, she smiled thinly, âWhat are you talking about?â
Qi Yue tightened her grip on her hand, refusing to let go, âIâve been watching you the whole time; you werenât in the private room, where did you go?â
âWhere I go is none of your business. I donât even know you,â Rong Weiwei replied, as if aggrieved, and struggled a bit, âLet me go.â
Despite Rong Weiweiâs struggle, Qi Yue didnât let go, though she didnât grip very hard either.
âOuch, that hurts.â Despite Qi Yue not applying much force, the beautiful woman suddenly took a sharp breath as if she were in pain.
âWhat are you doing!â Shi Mufeng immediately stepped forward and harshly pulled Qi Yue away, his handsome face cold as he protected Rong Weiwei behind him, and asked with concern, âAre you alright?â
Rong Weiweiâs face was slightly pale as if she had been startled, hiding behind him, yet she âkindlyâ shook her head to indicate, âIâm fine. Mufeng, donât be mad at her; she seems to be Rong Yanâs friend and is probably worried about her.â
Shi Mufengâs brow furrowed deeply, and with an exasperated tone, he said, âWhatâs there to worry about Rong Yan? Even if sheâs worried, she shouldnât be bothering you like this!â
âLet it be,â Rong Weiwei, appearing very accommodating, tugged at his sleeve and gently said, âShe is my sisterâs friend and might⦠just not like me usually.â
As to why Rong Yanâs friend wouldnât normally like her.
The implication was clear.
Because Rong Yan must have often spoken ill of her behind her back; thatâs why her friend would ânot like her usuallyâ!
Rong Weiwei seemed to be pleading for Qi Yue, but in reality, she subtly blackened Rong Yanâs name even further.
Indeed, Shi Mufengâs frown grew tighter, and his handsome face became increasingly displeased. He glanced at the small girl he had pulled away, showing the same disdain he had for Rong Yan, âItâs so noisy here; I donât know whatâs happening outside, but weâve shown our faces, which counts as giving your high-level friend some respect. Letâs leave first.â
