Chapter 1493
Married at First Sight
âIf you want to stay here for a few days to avoid Mr. York, Iâll let my girlfriend know and have her fly over
tomorrow to keep you company.â
He was a man, so it was inconvenient for him to take care of Camryn.
Moreover, since he had decided to be her brother figure, he had to keep a certain distance from her. He
would help her with everything, not just with work.
After all, she could not see yet.
He was the one who helped her set up the video conference in the afternoon.
âThereâs nothing going on between Mr. Callum and I,â Camryn hurriedly explained herself.
Duncan placed some food on her plate and looked at her for a long time before saying, âYou were in
your first year of middle school when I first met you, and itâs been fourteen years now. I know very well
what kind of person you are.
âAlthough you seemed very busy and dedicated during the video conference, I can tell that youâre a
little distracted. Your mind starts to wander as soon as you stop talking. I donât know what happened
between Mr. York and you, but when I saw him coming over, he was obviously jealous,
âHe misunderstood our relationship, didnât he? Then, he questioned you, you didnât explain anything,
and then you guys fought?â
Camryn paused from eating, then continued to eat as if nothing was wrong.
âWe didnât fight, Dal. Weâre just ordinary friends. Whatâs there to explain? Stop asking. Iâm fine. I was
just thinking that Trenton is coming back. Will he hate me when he finds out about everything?â
In the Newman family, Camryn could not care less about her own mother, let alone her stepfather and
half-sister. However, she cared about her younger brother.
Although she was always cold to him whenever he tried to care for her, her heart had long been melted
by the warm man. She thought of him as her real family.
Trenton was different from Carrie. He treated her like a real sister and was extremely protective of her.
However, it was because he defended her that Carrie told her mother to send him to a boarding school
after he started elementary school. He only came back once a week.
Now, he was in his third year in high school and could only come back once a month. He would have to
take his college entrance exam soon. Camryn was afraid that the matters at home would affect him.
âHeâs having his entrance exam soon.â
Camryn said softly, âHe has good grades, so my uncle and mother both hope that he can get into
Poltham University, but he said that he doesnât want to go to a university that far. He wants to take the
exam for Wiltspoon University and stay in Wiltspoon.
âHe said he would be able to come back and see me often if he went to a local university.â
Dalton was well aware that of all the people in the Newman family, only Trenton Newman was a good
person.
He thought about it and suggested, âDonât tell Trenton the truth when he comes back this weekend.
Just tell him that his parents and older sister went out on a trip together and tell him the truth when his
entrance exams are over.
âI think Trenton is an understanding person. Heâs seventeen now and knows how to tell right from
wrong. After you explain everything to him, give him the choice to resent or hate you, if he wants to.â
After a moment of silence, Camryn agreed with Daltonâs suggestion.
When she was investigating her fatherâs cause of death, she knew that one day, her brother and her
would stand on opposite sides.
âDonât think too much about it and eat first. Seafood doesnât taste as good when itâs cold. Iâll send you
back to the city after you finish eating.â
Dalton filled Camrynâs plate with more food and said, âYou donât want to tell me about you and Mr. York,
but Iâll tell you the truth. If you have the chance, you have to grab onto him.
âThe York family can be your backing. They wonât care about your family assets. I donât believe that
thereâs another man who would approach you if not for your family fortune.â
Camryn said faintly, âIâm blind, Dal. Iâm not a good match for Mr. Callum.â
âIt doesnât matter as long as his family and he doesnât dislike you. Look at Mr. Zachary York and his
wife. Theyâre not well-matched either, but arenât they lovey-dovey now?
âDonât care about what others say. Whatâs important is that you two love each other.â
