Ben silently complained to himself: Zachary had asked him for advice and picked it up quickly.
After breakfast, Jane and Serenity took the kids to play in the living room, while Ben had to go back
to work. He was reluctant to leave Avah with Jane and asked her to walk him out.
Back at work, Jane turned to Serenity and joked, âBenâs a grown man, but heâs still so clingy.â
Serenity replied, âYouâre just bragging. You two have been together for years, but your relationship
is still like it was in the beginning. Ben waited over ten years to win you overâitâs natural for him to
be so attached.â Jane blushed.
Just then, the old miracle doctor walked in with Fabian in his arms, and Laurel brought her two sons
to join the fun.
Laurel greeted Jane, saying, âThese two little ones wouldnât stop asking for their brother as soon as
they woke up. They were so loud. Jane, since youâre not working for a few days, Iâll leave them with
you. Let them run wild with Titus and Sonnyâtheyâre destroying the house.â
Laurel sighed about having two boys. She wished she had a daughter like Jane. Unlike her rowdy
boys, Janeâs children were calmer, though her twin sons had a close relationship, even though they
fought over everything daily.
Laurel knew that Lilian, since the miracle doctor arrived, had passed baby duties to him and fled.
Sheâd rather perform surgeries all day than handle her energetic twins.
Jane laughed, âWhy donât you let your husband take care of one, and you handle the other? It might
be quieter if theyâre apart.â
Laurel sighed, âThey cry and fuss when separated. One cries for his brother, and the other cries for
his younger brother. But when theyâre together, they fight. Itâs a never-ending cycle.â Laurel then
turned to Serenity and said, âSerenity, youâre lucky to have just one child at a time. You can wait
until your first child is older, maybe in kindergarten, before having another. By then, the eldest will
be more responsible and love their sibling. Itâs easier that way. With twins, itâs chaos.â
âIf I had a daughter like Jane, Iâd be happier. Avahâs so easygoing, even though she argues with her
brother sometimes, sheâs quiet and doesnât cry much. Daughters are better. I have to have a
daughter. Tonight, Iâm researching how to get one. Doctor, do you have any tips?â Laurel asked the
miracle doctor.
The old doctor responded, âIâm not married yet, so donât ask me about having kids.â
He was too old to talk about such things with younger people. Even if he knew, he wouldnât say. Itâs
best to let nature take its course. Besides, her twin boys werenât that hard to handle.
Laurel said, âIâll ask Lilian when sheâs back. Jane, Iâm heading to the office. Iâll leave the boys with
you. Their grandparents will come to help later.â
With that, Laurel hurried off. Her boys were already playing with Sonny and Titus, not caring that
their mom had left.
The old miracle doctor turned to Titus and asked, âTitus, have you finished copying the medicine
book your master assigned? Even though your master isnât home, your studies are still my
responsibility. You can play, but donât neglect your studies.â Titus, who had been enjoying himself,
was speechless.
