âYou must take responsibility for this child,â Cherise declared firmly.
With a loud clatter, the saucer in Ottoâs hand slipped and struck the coffee table. Ottoâs face paled as he glanced at Cherise. âYouâre so clumsy.â Cherise, unfazed, shot him a cold look. âLeave if you canât handle such a simple task!â
Pressing his lips together, Ottoâs expression soured as he turned away and left the room. Once he was gone, Cherise maintained her smile, turning her attention back to Sebastian. âDo you think I should keep this child or get rid of it?â
Sebastian raised his brows slightly. He didnât even bother to glance at the test report. âItâs Damienâs child, and you want me to decide?â
âItâs not his. Itâs yours,â Cherise insisted, maintaining her smile as she spoke to Sebastian. âYou see, this child isnât even a month old yet. Everyone claims I slept with you to secure shares for Damien around two weeks ago. But after I regained my memory, I never had any intimate relations with Damien.â
âAfter doing the math, itâs clear this child is yours,â she continued, her smile unwavering as she looked at Sebastian. âI want to keep this child, take our first child, Alexis, and run away with you.â
Sebastian wrinkled his brow, slight frost seeping into his deep gaze. âIs that so?â
âAbsolutely,â Cherise said, a smile playing on her lips as her eyebrows arched and her eyes twinkled.
âDamien doesnât love me enough. Maybe you were onto something. Perhaps we used to be head over heels for each other. Thatâs why Iâm thinking of leaving Damien.â Her gaze dropped instinctively as she rested her hand on her abdomen. âThis baby is ours.
âGet rid of it,â Sebastian responded, his eyes narrowing, his tone slightly gentle yet forceful. âIf you want to be with me, you need to get rid of this child.â
âWhy?â Cherise looked up, her expression guarded. âJudging by the timing, this baby is yours!â
âItâs not.â
âWhy do you doubt itâs yours?â Cherise bit her lip, disappointment flickering across her features. âAre you trying to absolve yourself of responsibility? Sebastian, donât let me down!â
âCherise,â Sebastian sneered, âDo you think youâre putting on a convincing act? Even if thereâs a baby on the way, itâs not mine.â He yawned, unimpressed. âI figured you had more tricks up your sleeve when you asked me out. Is this all? Seems like Damien didnât teach you much,â
âWhy wonât you believe me?â Cherise pouted. âIs it because Iâm not convincing enough?â
âBecause you made a mistake. Are you seriously claiming youâre carrying my child?â Sebastianâs gaze turned icy. âEven if youâre lying, you should at least stick to some basic truths, donât you think so? I havenât laid a finger on you, yet youâre trying to sell me this story that youâre pregnant with my child.
Cherise, do you honestly think Iâm that naïve?â
âOh, Cherise let out a drawn-out breath. âI get it. So you never touched me?â She had an ulterior spots.
There was even a pinhole camera on the pen in her front pocket.
In the adjacent room, Ottoâs team was transmitting the conversation and live video feed of Cherise and Sebastian to numerous media channels that had previously propagated rumors about them.
Therefore, Cherise purposefully echoed Sebastianâs words several times. âSo youâre implying that all those claims about us being together and loving each other are lies?â
Sebastian smirked. âHas Damien never whispered such sweet nothings in your ear?â
