Chapter 565 Another Chance Itâs Syattâs fault!
âMaybe I should apologize,â Lucy suggested.
She casually sipped her coffee and flipped through a magazine across the table. âWhat other options do you have?â
âHe came all this way to pursue you, only to be scared off on the first day. Thatâs not fair.â
Cherise remained silent.
Her eyes were fixed on Lucy. âLulu, do you think I should give him a chance?â
âI canât say for sure, but your words and actions suggest that he still holds a place in your heart.â
âIf you truly didnât care for him as you claimed, you wouldnât be concerned about how you treated him.â
âIf heâs someone you donât care for, why should his opinion of you matter?â
Cherise was left speechless. She couldnât argue with Lucyâs words.
Lucy is right⦠She couldnât help but care.
Cherise bit her lip. âDamien should have a positive impression of me, right?â
âSo why not give him another chance?â
Lucy yawned. âYouâre so stubborn.â
âHavenât Mr. Carlos and the hospital director introduced you to numerous promising young men over the years?â
âZachary even introduced you to a few men. Have any of them caught your eye?â
âYouâve shown no interest in any of these men. But when Damien shows up, youâre all over the place.â
âIf you canât let go, why not give it another shot?â
Cheriseâs hands clenched tightly. âIâ¦â
Even though five years had passed, she couldnât easily forgive Damien for the pain he had caused her back thenâ¦
âAbsolutely not.â
Lucy rolled her eyes. âCherise, stop being so stubborn. When I suggested giving him a chance, I meant allowing him to pursue you like Syatt and the others.â
âAre you going to be won over so easily?â
âDonât be too grateful for every little thing he does for you. Make him work for it and pursue you for a year or two as compensation for the pain he caused you back then before you make any decisions!â
âOh.â

Cherise nodded. She gently sipped her drink. âI understand.â
After a moment, she looked up at Lucy again. âShould I apologize for my behavior today?â
âApologize?â
Lucy frowned. âIf heâs serious about pursuing you, would a minor misunderstanding discourage him?â
âIf this small incident is enough to make him back off, donât bother giving him a chance. Let him go hist own way!â
âAh.â
Cherise pursed her lips and nodded lightly.
Upon seeing the naive girl before her, Lucy sighed in exasperation..
Others saw Cherise as a mature, composed, experienced, and restrained female doctor.
But in Lucyâs presence, Cherise was still an innocent girl who needed protection. Cherise liked to share. and discuss everything with Lucy.
With this in mind, Lucy asked Cherise, âCanât you figure these things out on your own without me spelling. it out for you?â
Cherise looked up at Lucy and shook her head.
She had her own plans for Damien and would have figured it out without Lucyâs advice.
But her past with Damien still haunted her, and she couldnât fully move on.
Lucyâs words encouraged her and provided her with a way forward.
As it turned out, she wasnât alone in her thinking. She had people around her who supported her as well.
âCherise.â
Lucy reached out and tousled Cheriseâs hair. âYour mom passed away a long time ago. Itâs time to let go.â
