Is Cherise, that fool, the sole person he cares about!?
The woman scoffed, âMr. Lenoir is quite conservative.â
âItâs prudent for everyone to maintain a degree of conservatism.â
After a faint smile, he gestured for her to proceed. âMs. Weiss, please proceed.â
Yolanda pursed her lips and left.
During the journey to the hospital, Yolanda attempted to initiate a conversation with Damien, but he either crossed his arms and gazed out the window or feigned sleep.
Boredom set in, prompting Yolanda to retrieve her phone and message her younger brother, Sebastian Weiss, âSebastian, who in the Lenoir Group asked me to meet Damien? Damien doesnât seem interested in meeting me at all. Heâs not enthusiastic at all!â
âIâm so frustrated! Iâve never been ignored like this in my entire life!â
Shortly after dispatching the message, she received a reply, âIf thatâs the case, why donât you come back earlier?â
âNo way!â
Yolandaâs lips tightened. âIâve developed a liking for Damien.â
The man on the other end of the phone held a brief silence. âMasochist.â
âWho are you referring to?â
âIâm talking about you. He doesnât deign to pay attention to you, yet you cultivate affection for him. If thatâs not masochism, then what is it?â
âSay whatever you want. I simply find enjoyment in challenging pursuits!â
âWell, we Weiss family are all cut from the same cloth.â
âWhat do you mean?â
âItâs inconsequential. You proceed with pursuing Damien, and Iâll exert my best efforts to integrate you into Cheriseâs acceptance as her sister.â
Yolanda lapsed into silence.
âBrother, are you serious? Do you genuinely harbor feelings for that foolish Cherise?â
âYes.â
âYouâre absurd!â
Yolanda clenched her phone, a surge of anger coursing through her. âDuring your time at Shawbury High, didnât you perceive how foolish this woman was?â
âI find her remarkable. Do not speak ill of her.â
ââ¦Youâre brainwashed.
âBelieve what you will. If you treat her kindly, we can benefit from our endeavors. Otherwise, I wonât concern myself with you.â
Yolanda found herself speechless.
Despite the harshness of Sebastianâs words, Yolanda reluctantly acknowledged their impact; they had shaken her to the core.
Her brother, she realized, possessed a cunning and malicious nature.
Contemplating the possibility of teaming up with Sebastian, Yolanda couldnât deny that it might offer a smoother path to winning Damien.
With that realization, she drew a deep breath. âFine! Iâll pursue Damien, and you pursue Cherise!â
âYeah.â
After putting down her phone, Yolanda glanced at the man feigning sleep in the back seat through the rearview mirror.
She pursed her lips, retrieved her phone, clandestinely captured a picture of his handsome profile, and shared it on her social media with the caption, âNew boyfriend, so handsome.â
âMs. Dupont is progressing well.â
Following a thorough examination of Heather, the doctor handed Cherise a tube of ointment in the hospitalâs burn unit. âApply this evenly on the burned area for seven days.â
While continuing to document details in Heatherâs medical record, the doctor provided further instructions, âFor the next seven days, itâs advisable to refrain from taking baths, and itâs preferable to have someone assist you.â
âOnce the blisters on your body burst, apply the ointment promptly upon discovery to prevent scarring.â
Cherise nodded silently, holding the ointment. âI understand.â
After bidding farewell to the doctor, she assisted Heather as they left the burn unit.
âCherise, you donât have to support me. The burns are on my face and arms, not my legs. I can walk on my own!â
Cherise shook her head. âBut you still need to take it slow.â
Heather pouted, reluctantly allowing Cherise to support her as they walked ahead.
