âTurns out that Mom and Dad are late because they are researching about giving us a little brother or sister,â Soren remarked, observing his parents.
From a distance, a little girlâs voice sounded unhappy. âHmph, I knew it. Mom and Dad havenât been spending time with me recently. There must be a problem!â
Cherise and Damien turned to see Serafina on the balcony of the Lenoir residence, pouting and leaning on the railing.
Soren stood behind her, casually playing with a building block.
Cherise frowned, worried about her daughterâs safety. âSera, get back! Itâs not safe there!â
âItâs fine,â Serafine retorted. âRen measured it and told me my chubby body canât fit through.â
After a few seconds had passed, Serafina finally realized the insinuation of her brotherâs words and yelled indignantly, âRen called me fat!â
Hearing her daughterâs complaint, Cherise burst into laughter. âSera, you took so long to react!â
Widening her big, bead-like eyes, Serafina asked, âWhat do you mean, Mom?â
âShe means youâre silly,â Soren chimed in.
Feeling hurt, Serafina whimpered, âRen calls me fat, then Mom says Iâm dumb⦠Iâm so sadâ¦â
Damienâs heart melted at his daughterâs tears. He quickly went inside to pick her up and coddle her.
Attempting to reassure her, he said, âYou still have Daddy, right Sera?â
Serafina sobbed even harder, âBut Daddy isnât the most important person to me!â
A chuckle left Cheriseâs lips before she intervened, âDaddy is important to you too, Sera.â
Damien pinched his daughterâs cheek playfully. âDo you listen to Ren that much?â
Serafina nodded, âBecause heâs important to me.â
âBut he called you fat,â Damien responded.
âMom called you dumb.â
âOnly Daddy thinks youâre thin and smart,â Damien said, staring into his daughterâs eyes.
After contemplating, Serafina kissed Damienâs cheek. âThen Iâll admit that Daddy is the most important person to me.â
Damien chuckled, âWomen of all ages canât resist sweet words.â A smirk formed on the corners of his mouth as he winked playfully at Cherise.
Shaking his head, Soren remarked, âEven if you manage to win over Sera, you canât coax me that easily.â
Speaking his thoughts out loud, Soren walked away, leaving Damien smiling at his sonâs determination.
His stubbornness was very reminiscent of a certain woman.
