Three years later-
May in Boston wasnât considered hot. Zuo Yue walked out of the library with a few books in her hands and was about to leave.
âZuo Yue!â Julie suddenly caught up from behind.âYouâve been coming to the library to borrow books recently. Are you preparing to go out for an internship?â
Zuo Yue looked back at Julie and smiled.ââYes, the pictures from our school have all been borrowed by the graduates. I couldnât find a few of them, so I could only borrow them from you.â
âYou suddenly changed your studies three years ago. I heard that your mother helped you apply for a business management major in Los Angeles. But why did you come back to Boston? Back then, you never told me the reason, but you didnât leave Boston. Instead, you left your medical profession and didnât stay with us anymore. This has always made me feel badâ¦â
âHow is it not together? Donât we meet often? It was just that they werenât in the same school and major.âZuo Yue said with a smile.
âYeah, weâre not in the same major anymore. Weâve been studying medicine for a year longer than you. You can prepare for your internship now, but we still have to study for another year.âJulie pouted.â Youâre studying business management now. Are you going back to Los Angeles to intern at Zuo Corporation?â After all, thatâs your familyâs business. It should be very convenient for you to go for an internship, right?â
Zuo Yue paused for a moment and did not say anything. She just smiled.âNot necessarily. It depends on the situation.â
âYouâre going out for an internship at the end of this month, arenât you? Why havenât I heard about you returning to Los Angeles? I havenât seen you return to Los Angeles many times in the past few years. Moreover, after you came back three years agoâ¦â Julie looked at Zuo Yueâs side profile. There were some words that she had been holding back for three years. She did not know if she should say them, but now that Zuo Yue was about to do her internship, she probably would not have the chance to be together often in the future.âYour personality has changed a lot, Zuo Yue.â
âIs there?â
â Iâm not sure. Anyway, after you returned from Los Angeles three years ago, you seemed to have changed into a different person. Although you were still very happy when you were with us, I felt that there was something hidden in your heart that made you less calm. Or rather, you became much quieter than before. Sometimes, it made us feel like there was a layer between us.â
âNo, youâre thinking too much.â Zuo Yue still had a smile on her face, but she did not explain too much. She only raised the book in her hand again.âThank you for asking me to borrow books from the library here. Iâll return it after Iâm done.â
âThereâs no rush. I can only borrow books a few times a year. My book card limit will only end at the end of the year. If you want to borrow books, just look for me.âJulie smiled.
After sending Zuo Peng out of the school, Julie suddenly said,â[Hey, have you been in contact with Brother RuiRuisheng recently?]â
Brother Ruisheng?
âYin Ruisheng?â Zuo Yue turned around and asked.
âYeah, he came to America last week. He seems to be doing very well in his acting career in Korea. Heâs a popular Korean idol now, but heâs been studying music recently. It seems like he wants to move from idol dramas to a music career, so he came to Bostonâs Music Academy to study.â
â He didnât contact me, Iâm not too sure, but heâs currently very popular in Korea and Asia. I know a little about him. I often see him on TV.ââZuo Yue smiled.â A few months ago, I even watched a TV drama that he starred in. The kissing scene was super cool.ââ
âAiya, I thought you didnât pay attention to him. It turns out that you secretly watch his dramas too!âJulie suddenly smiled maliciously and nudged her gently with her arm.âI have his contact information here. Do you want it?â
Zuo Yueâs gaze froze as she looked at Julie.
Julie raised her eyebrows.â A certain popular celebrity has never forgotten about you. After I met him that day, I briefly mentioned your matter. He only gave me his contact information and said that he would give it to you when he had time. However, he didnât force me to do anything. It was just a casual remark.â
âForget it, we havenât contacted each other for so many years.âZuo Yue said softly and turned around to hail a taxi.ââIâll go home first. Weâll talk again when we come out for coffee another day.â
âHey, Zuo Yue, youâre living alone in that apartment outside every day now. Donât you plan to come out and live with me and Weina? Isnât it boring to be alone?â
Zuo Yue smiled at her and did not reply. She only raised her hand and waved goodbye.
Seeing the taxi drive away in front of her, Julie sighed.âSeriously, your temper is getting harder and harder to deal with. Starting from three years ago, you came back to change schools and even ran out to live alone. That handsome uncle from before is also gone, and you donât live in that villa anymore.â
Zuo Yue sat in the taxi and looked at the time. She put the books in her hand into her bag and told the driver her address before closing her eyes to rest.
Twenty minutes later, the taxi stopped near a luxury apartment building in downtown Boston. The moment it stopped, a black Porsche passed by. Zuo Yue did not open her eyes. She sat quietly for a while before opening her eyes. Seeing that she had arrived, she paid the taxi fare and got out of the car.
Just as she was about to enter the apartment building, she rummaged through her bag for the key card and suddenly noticed that there was a rare traffic jam at the intersection ahead.
There were only a few traffic jams in Boston City a year. How could there be a traffic jam?
Zuo Yue not only turned her head to look at the intersection, but she saw the latest Porsche. The cool and smooth model was both luxurious and calm. She looked at the unfamiliar license plate number and then looked at the other cars. The intersection was not blocked for long. After two to three minutes, it was cleared again.
Zuo Yue turned around and took out her door card. She opened the door and walked into the apartment building.
After returning to the apartment she had been living alone in Boston for the past three years, she put down her bag full of books, turned around, and collapsed on the sofa, closing her eyes to rest.
As time passed, just as she was about to fall asleep, a phone suddenly rang. She was so shocked that she jumped up and picked up the phone.âHello?ân/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
âMiss Zuo, the interview scheduled for tomorrow afternoon has been moved forward to 3:30 this afternoon.â
âThis afternoon?â
âYes.â
Zuo Yue looked at the time and said decisively,ââAlright, Iâll pack up and go over immediately.â
