Boston King Group Financial Company-
Zuo Yue walked into the main entrance of the company in a tailored suit. She was preparing for the interview with a few other interns who had also come to apply for the job.
While waiting in the companyâs lounge, he suddenly received a call from Los Angeles.
âStill not planning to come back?â Xu Yuanâs voice came from the phone.ââZuo Yue, the Zuo Corporation needs you now. Dad and Mom are old, and your brother still has no intention of taking over the family business. Zuo Yue, since youâre studying business management and finance now, why would you rather go to another company for an interview and start from the bottom than come back to take over the Zuo Corporation? Do you hate me that much?â
Zuo Yue stood up as she answered the call and walked out of the lounge. She walked to a corner in front of the walkway where there were fewer people and said softly,ââMom, Iâve already answered you countless times over the past few years. I donât hate you. I donât remember what happened three years ago. Some things have already been completely removed from my thoughts and my life.â
âThen why havenât you come back until now? Itâs been three years. Youâve been using your studies as an excuse to rarely go home, but youâre about to graduate now. Zuo Yue, youâre already twenty-two years old, almost twenty-three years old. You can come to Zuo Corporation and be alone.â
âYou also said that Iâm about to graduate, but I havenât graduated yet. Besides, I donât have much social experience. Itâs good to train more in a company outside. Although Zuo Corporation is a family business, it doesnât completely rely on people with the surname Zuo. There are so many management levels in the company. You canât treat me like my brother. Iâve studied business management, but it doesnât mean that Iâll take over those in the future. You know that Iâm not that capable. Iâll just mingle in some companies outside and intern. It was a job. It was enough to have a normal and ordinary life.â
The other side of the phone was silent for a long time because of her words. It was so long that Zuo Yue could clearly feel her motherâs disappointment and sadness.
However, no matter how disappointed and sad she was, she did not have the heart to experience it. She only knew that she had refused to stay in Los Angeles three years ago and returned to Boston to study. During these three years, she had slowly turned her love for that person into forgetting and even hatred.
She had no complaints about the Zuo family.
But that was a place that made her sad. She didnât want to go back. She just wanted to live a good life outside alone.
â Zuo Yue, I know that youâve been having a hard time these past few years. Back then, I had no choice. If you guysâ¦â
âAlright, Mom, Iâm preparing for the interview. My name has already been called. Iâll go for the interview first.âZuo Yue said with a smile and hung up the phone. She turned around and walked to the interview hall.
Whether it was in terms of appearance, height, temperament, or attitude, Zuo Yue was one of the best among the few students who were interviewed. Her professional knowledge was also excellent. In three hours, she had successfully passed the test and obtained the qualification to intern at King Corporation.
The HR manager was very satisfied with her and invited her to have dinner with her colleagues from the business department and planning department. Zuo Yue was not familiar with the people in the company, so she was only a toy at first. However, the HR manager was especially enthusiastic and wanted to bring her along. Zuo Yue saw that another intern who was hired was also invited, so she followed. At least there was someone she could talk to, otherwise it would be too awkward.
At dinner with the new colleagues, the HR manager introduced them one by one. There were a few students who came to China to study and later stayed in Boston to work. Because they were all Chinese, they more or less got along.
It was already eleven oâclock at night when the dinner party ended. Zuo Yue walked out of the hotel and was about to take a taxi home when she saw a gray Mercedes-Benz drive over and stop in front of her.
She was stunned for a moment and looked at the car in front of her. The window rolled down and the HR manager waved at her from the car.
The HR manager was a man in his thirties. He looked refined and had a pair of silver-rimmed glasses. He looked clean and refined. From the first time Zuo Yue saw him, he was wearing a suit that fit him well. He would occasionally look at her. At first, Zuo Yue did not think too much about it, but when he stopped the car in front of her and signaled her to get in with his eyes, Zuo Yue finally understood.
She had been studying in Boston for the past three years. Because her personality was much quieter now, people often thought that she was a quiet and gentle girl when they saw her. There were also many men who chased her because of her appearance. Usually, cars would stop in front of her, but she would not accept any of them.
She did not expect that the HR manager would take a fancy to her before she had even officially started her internship.
Zuo Yue was not a narcissistic person, but it was such an obvious situation. She was out at work now, so she could not be too blunt and unpleasant like she was in school. Therefore, she could only nod politely at the HR manager in the car and say,âI live nearby. Iâll just take a taxi back.â
âTsk, do I have to be so straightforward?âThe HR manager smiled and looked at her. His attitude was very easy-going and did not make her feel like she was being forced. He patted the front passenger seat beside him and said,âCome, get in the car. Even if itâs only a five-minute walk, we can at least talk for five minutes. Letâs go.â
Zuo Yue wanted to refuse, but the person in front of her was the manager of the human resources department after all. She had just been hired and did not want to offend anyone.
âManager Lin, I really live nearby. Itâs not even a five-minute walk.âZuo Yue pointed at the apartment building not far away.ââItâs over there. Iâll cross the road and walk a few steps. If I take a car, I canât turn here. Instead, Iâll have to take a big detour.â
The HR manager turned to look at the apartment building that she was pointing at and immediately turned to look at her.âWhere do you live?â
âYes.â
âI thought you were like those international students, staying in some simple dormitories in Boston. It seems that I underestimated your family background.âThe HR manager smiled faintly.
The apartment building that Zuo Yue lived in was not allowed to be rented out, so she must have bought the house herself.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
However, that apartment was in a very prosperous area in Boston. The price was not considered sky-high, but if she went to school here, she could buy a house in that apartment. In an instant, she could guess that Zuo Yueâs family background was extraordinary. At the very least, she was definitely rich.
âSince his family background is not bad, why would he come to King Corporation alone for an internship?âThe HR manager asked curiously.
