âWhat could have happened to that brat that made him decide he won't see us again? I knew he is a nuisance, but he won't refuse us without having someone that changed his mind... that woman, could she bear any grudges for my family? I don't even know what family she belongs to... âOliver spoke, pacing around his study room.
Isabelle sat in the armchair, listening quietly to Oliver. She wanted to ask him about Morgan and her mother, but she didn't had the courage.
âIf I act like a coward I won't any answer and I'll live in dark. I haven't seen that woman since then... but her words stuck to me. She seemed to tell the truth, but it's hard to believe father would do such thing. He may be obsessed with status and power, but to throw his wife and child out? And me... an affair child? âIsabelle thought as she played with her fingers, deep in her own thoughts.
âIf we can't form ties with the royal family we have to try with the next power... the church. But how? Let's see... the head priest's son is around sixteen and he isn't engaged to no one. That's it, let's switch teams. âOliver said determined.
He walked in front of Isabelle with a large smile. The girl noticed the legs in front of her and jumped up, startled.
âChange your clothes into something more mature and covering. âOliver said.
Isabelle was confused, but listened to him and returned to her room to change her dress.
âWhat are going to do? We haven't found any trace of that demonic child. â
The head priest looked at his subordinate.
âWe need to do something. I don't like being toyed with. If we can't find the real girl we'll have to make one. âThe head priest replied, looking at the statue in front of him.
âMake one? â the other priest asked, then realization hit him. âAre you sure? â
The head priest grinned.
âI can't wait to see his face when we show him the girl. He thinks he can ruin our reputation? Ha, how funny, we can't be defeated by a spoiled brat. âThe head priest spoke.
âI understand, I'll start the process right away. âthe other priest said, bowing his head before leaving.
The head priest kept looking at the statue, eager to see the defeated Victor.
âFather? Can I come in? â
The head priest turned around to face the door.
âOf course, come in. â He replied.
The teenager entered the room and bowed politely.
âI've been informed that Duke Albertine and his daughter are here to see us. â
The head priest raised his eyebrow.
âDid they stated their motive? â The head priest asked.
âNo. â His son replied.
âI see. Show them the way, then. âThe head priest replied and the boy left the room to get the two.
Zhia Xiang was ready to tell him no, but them she remembered her journal.
âIf I use the journal...I'm sure I'll be able to show him the base. Hm, is it worth it? I mean, he seems to love the idea of traveling through worlds, but is it a good idea to show him more? â She debated in her mind.
Agent 0 guessed what it's going on in her mind and hit her knee to gain her attention.
âYou shouldn't involve him too much, subject #654. â
âI know, but something tells me it's not harmful to let him see the base. âZhia Xiang replied conflicted.
âIt's your choice after all, but all actions have consequences. â Agent 0 replied, sighing.
âI know. Is there a rule that forbids strangers from coming into the base? âZhia Xiang asked.
âIf you read the manual that I gave you at the beginning you would know that taking outsiders into the base is impossible. But we're speaking of you here, the one who can write fate so you're an exception. âAgent 0 explained, quite irritated that Zhia Xiang ignored the manual of rules.
Zhia Xiang laughed awkwardly.
âI'll read it... eventually. â She replied.
Agent 0 rolling his robotic eyes at her.
âYou stopped talking or moving suddenly, why is that? âVictor asked.
Zhia Xiang looked at him and replied:
âI was thinking about your suggestion. It seems like there is a way for you to see the base...but I'm still debating if it's a good idea or not. â
âI see. You don't trust me enough? âVictor asked.
âIt's not really about trust, it's more that I don't know the consequences of showing you something you aren't supposed to see. Telling you about it was already much, but I decided to speak about it because you already knew I'm not from here. âZhia Xiang explained.
âAm I the first you told about it? âVictor asked.
Zhia Xiang shook her head as she remembered past missions and friends she made there.
âAlright, I'll take you there. Whatever happens after, happens. âZhia Xiang decided.
She took her journal out and wrote in it: Me and Victor will be transported to the base and the returning signal will be me snapping my fingers.
When she finished writing the last letter, a light surrounded the two and when they opened their eyes they were inside the base.
âDon't mind the chaos, I'm too lazy to clean. âZhia Xiang stated as looked around at the mess she didn't clean up.
Victor looked around amazed.
âIt is a room... with no doors or windows. You can't leave this place? âVictor asked inspecting around.
âI can't. I mean if I want to return to my world, I can, but until then I'm staying here. âZhia Xiang explained.
Victor sat in the leather chair and looked at the screens.
âIs this worked by magic? âVictor asked.
Zhia Xiang walked next to him and shook her head.
âIt's technology. â She replied.
âHow do you use it? â
Zhia Xiang touched the screen and moved icons around to show him how to use it.
âThere is a keyboard that you use to write things on the screen.â Zhia Xiang said pointing to the keyboard.
Victor looked amazed and smiled.
âWhat can you use this screen for? I see that it has these images and writing on it. â
âMultiple things. You can write things on it, send messages, play games, listen to music, watch shows. âZhia Xiang listened a few things you can do when a thought hit her.
She leaner over and opened the camera.
âIt's like a mirror. âVictor said as he looked at himself on the screen.
âYes, kind of. If you press this icon here, you'll take a picture. â
Victor pressed the icon and a photo was taken.
âIt's not moving anymore. So it's like a portret, but instant. How wonderful. âVictor praised.
Zhia Xiang walked to the mini fridge she has and took two cans of soda out.
âDo you want to try some? âShe asked, putting the can on the table, next to Victor.
Victor took the soda can and looked at it, quickly realizing how to open it.
âYou're a fast learner. âZhia Xiang said sipping some soda.
âThis base of yours is wonderful. I'd love to lean more about the technology you mentioned earlier. â
Zhia Xiang leaned over his shoulder and opened a searching browser.
âWrite here what you want to know and you'll find answers to it. â Zhia Xiang said.
Victor looked down at the keyboard and then at the screen.
âIt can answer any questions? âVictor asked intrigued.
âYes. â
Zhia Xiang sat in her bed and watched Victor discover more of the internet.
âHow does time passes in here? âVictor suddenly asked.
âI have to idea. Do you know the answer? âZhia Xiang asked, looking at agent 0.
Victor looked at the direction Zhia Xiang was looking at and noticed agent 0.
âI can see it! âVictor said sitting up and walking to the bed.
âOh my, you can see agent 0 now? âZhia Xiang asked.
âI do. This is the robotic cat you mentioned? âVictor asked, analyzing agent 0. âIt's true that there is no magic in it...but it's looking at me... how wonderful. â Victor added extending his hand towards agent 0.
âKeep your hands to yourself. To answer your question, the time in your world is flowing as normal while you're inside here. It's been one hour since you left. âAgent 0 explained.
âI see. What happened to our bodies? âVictor asked.
âThey simply disappeared. â Agent 0 replied.
âSince you're the one who recruited Zhia Xiang for this, you must know the requirements of becoming a transmigrator, am I right? âVictor asked.
âWhat you're getting at? âAgent 0 asked getting impatient.
âI want to become a transmigrator. âVictor stated.
Zhia Xiang was surprised to hear his statement. Silence fell between them.
