Chapter 1096
Marrying the Man in the Dark
Chapter 1096 Raymond's Demise
But no one saw what was coming next...
As the servant was closer to Raymond, she untied him first before turning to Beckham. As Raymond was freed, he found a burst of strength. He rushed to the table, grabbed a fruit knife, and lunged at the defenseless Beckham. In a flash, Damien stepped in and shoved Beckham out of the way. Yet, even with his quick reflexes, Damien couldn't completely thwart Raymond's frenzied assault.
"Beckham, let me tell you something," Raymond snarled, the fruit knife grazing Damien's arm as he continued his attempted attack on Beckham. "It was your wife I had an affair with back then! I slept with your wife, and now I'm sending you to meet her!"
At that moment, Beckham was freed from his bounds. Though his movements were stiff, he was agile enough to dodge Raymond's attacks. He remained composed, narrowing his eyes as he grabbed Raymond's wrist, redirecting the knife as Raymond lunged at him.
Caught off guard, Raymond couldn't stop his momentum. With a swish, the knife plunged into his own heart. Blood spurted out, and Cherise barely had time to scream before the man who resembled Damien collapsed in front of her with a heavy thud. The servant rushed to help him, saying, "Master fainted at the sight of blood..."
The metallic scent of blood filled the entire basement. Cherise quickly rushed to check Beckham's injuries. While Raymond's strike had been fatal to himself, Beckham had also been hurt. In the scuffle, Beckham's hand, which had been gripping Raymond's wrist, was cut, causing him to bleed. After assisting Colin, the servant urgently called out, "Bring the first-aid kit!"
As the only doctor present, Cherise tried to maintain her composure, but it was a struggle. After all, the two injured men were her biological father and the man she deeply loved. Trembling, she took the first-aid kit from the female servant and carefully tended to Damien and Beckham's wounds. Fortunately, their injuries were superficial. The knife hadn't nicked any vital organs or tendons.
Damien's wound proved to be minor, while Beckham's required a bit more attention. Pushing aside her emotions, Cherise attended to both men before directing her focus to the pale-faced Raymond, who lay motionless on the ground. He was dead, his body still, silent, and stiff.
Cherise had initially disregarded Raymond due to her intense hatred for him... and her expertise as a cardiac surgeon. Understanding the heart's anatomy well, she knew the gravity of Raymond's fatal wound after the knife had pierced through that position. Such an injury would be untreatable even in the most advanced hospital with the best physicians. Moreover, they were stranded in a basement on a remote island without medical aid. Their options were even more limited.
Closing her eyes briefly, Cherise helped Beckham out of the basement. "He's gone. Let's clean up."
"Alright," the servant responded with pursed lips. She was about to help Colin leave the basement when Damien intervened. "Let me handle this." With the servant's assistance, he knelt down, hoisting the unconscious Colin onto his back. Together, they made their way towards Cherise to exit the basement.
"Why are you being so kind to him?" Cherise couldn't help but ask Damien, curious about his unexpected compassion.
