Chapter 1115
Marrying the Man in the Dark
Chapter 1115 Lennon's Objection
In her diary, she had once penned, 'I dislike Cherise's wedding gown. I like dresses with lengthy, flowing trains adorned with a myriad of bows and sparkling diamonds. My wedding gown must be dazzling!'
Lennon winced as the glittering embellishments adorning the woman's gown before him hurt his eyes. He felt it was too glaring. At the end of the day, she had persisted in wearing the type of dress she adored. Yet, he wasn't the man accompanying her at the altar.
The Gray family and the priest had displeased expressions as they looked at the intruder. The priest leveled a cold stare at Lennon, "Sir, may I inquire as to your objection to their union?"
"Because she's the mother of my child," Lennon sneered, his gaze flickering towards Lucy's figure. "To clarify, I don't object to her getting married, but I vehemently oppose her taking my child and marrying another man."
Cherise's heart seized at Lennon's revelation. How could he... How could Lennon... How could he possibly know... Instinctively, she looked up into Damien's eyes.
Wrinkling his brow, Damien subconsciously met Cherise's gaze and subtly shook his head. "I haven't investigated Alexis and Lennon's relationship, nor have I spoken out of turn," he reassured her earnestly. "I harbored suspicions, but since you said nothing about it, I refrained from probing further." His words were sincere. But neither she nor Damien had breathed a word, so how on earth could Lennon be privy to the fact that Alexis was...
"You're talking nonsense!" Lucy whirled around, her eyes ablaze with fury as she glared at Lennon. "What rubbish are you spewing!? I admit I have a son, and many here are well aware of it! Even my groom today has embraced my son! But my son isn't biologically mine; he's adopted! I followed all the proper adoption protocols!"
"Lennon Belcourt, if you're going to spread rumors, at least grasp the basics of the law. Yes, we were together five years ago and had relations! But this child isn't biologically mine. How could he possibly be yours!? Have you lost your mind!"
"Is that the case?" Lennon's sneer deepened as he descended the steps, eventually coming face to face with Lucy. "I don't make claims without evidence." He brandished a DNA test report from his pocket. "If someone hadn't given me this, I would never have suspected that Alexis is our son. Lucy Staber, that was a pretty good move on your part."
"To keep me from meeting my son or suspecting that Alexis is my son, you arranged for your best friend to adopt him first, then you took over the adoption, concealing any link between the child and yourself!" His exquisite features distorted with rage. "I understand your disdain for me and your desire to sever ties with me, but isn't this too callous?"
"You deprived me of the chance to acknowledge my own flesh and blood. Instead, you're marrying another man and raising our son with him? Are you going to make my son going to call another man 'Dad'? Lucy Staber, have you lost all sense of compassion?"
Lennon's words plunged Lucy into a frigid abyss of realization. She snatched the DNA test report from his grasp. Were it not for Colin's support, she might have crumbled to the floor. How could it be... How could this be... Alexis is actually... me and Lennon's... How... is it possible...
The hall erupted into chaos in an instant. Initially, each attendee had harbored their own thoughts, but now, with such monumental revelations laid bare, discussion was inevitable.
