Chapter 1122

Marrying the Man in the Dark

Chapter 1122 Immature

So, she chose to remain silent.

She had family, too, particularly her father, who had been her rock for many years. Their relationship was much closer than most fathers and daughters. But her father had his own worries and struggles, and she didn't want to burden him with her troubles either.

As such, she couldn't confide in her father, her best friend, or her friends.

Over time, she even forgot what it felt like to trust someone completely and share all her worries. Perhaps she thought she didn't deserve to feel that way.

Lucy closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Let's sleep

Colin pressed his lips together, hearing the sadness in her voice. He clenched his fists tightly. He could tell she had many worries and wanted to say many things. But she held it all back. She chose to bear everything on her own, saying nothing.

A feeling akin to heartache washed over him.

With his eyes closed, Colin asked, "Isn't it exhausting?"

Lucy paused for a moment before smiling, "You'll get used to it. Since you and Damien are technically the same age, you should be much older than me. Yet, you don't seem very mature... Perhaps you've been too sheltered?"

She continued, "Colin, once you experience more complex situations, you'll understand that bearing things yourself can be a sign of maturity."

"You're the first person to boast about maturity to me." Colin shrugged. "If you don't want to talk, that's fine."

Then, he turned away, but sleep eluded him.

After a long silence, Colin spoke again, "Lucy."

The woman on the bed turned over but didn't respond.

Colin was not sure if she was asleep or ignoring him.

He bit his lip and gathered courage before continuing, "Cherry probably told you I'm a comic book writer."

"You and your son will probably live here for a long time. I keep many drafts of my comics and published comic books in my study. You can look at them when you're bored. My comics are quite interesting. Maybe you won't think I'm so immature after you read them."

But Lucy still didn't respond.

Colin couldn't help but feel a little awkward. "If you don't want to read them... that's fine. Anyway, my comics have never been popular... I liked drawing them, so I kept on doing it. But now that we're married, I might not have much time or interest in drawing comics anymore. I need to grow up a bit, too."

He closed his eyes. "Damien is right; Aunt Dorothy's car accident wasn't so

simple. I need to become the heir of Gray Group to have the means to investigate the truth behind her injury..."

Moonlight streamed into the bedroom, and the woman on the bed lay still in silence.

Meanwhile, Colin's clear, gentle voice echoed in the room.

He kept talking about himself. "Aunt Dorothy told me about my past when I came

of age. I was abducted as a child. I finally found my family, only for my parents to die in a car accident. It seems my life is destined to be filled with tragedy and hatred."

He paused before continuing, "But Aunt Dorothy wanted me to live more positively... She wanted me to embrace the world with love and to believe in the inherent kindness of all. But... about the circumstances surrounding her injury, all of Damien's speculations make sense... I really don't want to suspect my uncle..."
