Chapter 1134
Marrying the Man in the Dark
Chapter 1134 Here's My Resume
"I, however, am a single mother who's never had a steady job and has always been on the move," Lucy explained.
"If Lennon decides to take me to court for custody of our child, my chances of winning are slim."
"So..." Lucy's voice grew firm with resolve. "I'll find a job, even if it means starting with something as simple as cleaning."
"Securing a steady income will at least deter Lennon from attempting to take Alexis away," she concluded.
Cherise found herself speechless in the wake of Lucy's revelation.
She grasped that Lucy harbored a misunderstanding about Lennon.
Yet, if even Lennon himself remained reticent, how could Cherise, an outsider, hope to clarify matters to Lucy?
As for the job...
Cherise hesitated momentarily before offering a suggestion. "I happen to know Mr. Carlos from a hospital in Yatesville. What do you think about... me introducing you?"
"No, thank you," Lucy responded curtly, dismissing the offer.
Taking a deep breath, Lucy continued, "I still have my job in Adania. Working at the hospital involves a multitude of complexities, and I intend to return there in the future..."
After a brief pause, she resumed, "However, I'm eager to explore new opportunities, much like yourself. I sent out several resumes last night. I'm contemplating a career shift into event planning, perhaps a role within a wedding company."
"The flexible hours and the prospect of a fresh challenge are appealing to me."
After a moment of hesitation, Lucy voiced her thoughts once more. "However, I've never ventured into this field before, and I'd appreciate having someone accompany me."
"Cherry, would you like to accompany me to an interview tomorrow?" Lucy proposed.
"Since Damien is still in Yatesville, you shouldn't go back to Adania alone. Why not make it a part-time gig to fill the time?" she suggested.
Cherise pondered over the proposition, weighing her options carefully.
Early in the morning, Lucy made a call to ask Cherise to join her for a job interview at a wedding company.
Cherise hesitated briefly, but ultimately, she agreed.
As it turned out, Lucy's suggestion was indeed a wise one.
For the time being, Damien found himself unable to disentangle from the intricacies of the Gray family's affairs.
Cherise found it rather tiresome to be accompanying Damien in this situation.
Surrounded by unfamiliar settings and everyone's preoccupations, Lucy was the sole companion available to Cherise.
However, even Lucy was preparing for work.
So, aside from accompanying Lucy, what other option did Cherise have?
"Okay, that's settled then!" Lucy exclaimed excitedly upon hearing Cherise's response.
"I'll send out a few more resumes and submit yours too!"
Cherise was left speechless.
"You have my resume?" she asked in surprise.
"Of course! I stayed up late last night to do it for you!" Lucy replied eagerly.
Cherise was left speechless by Lucy's thoughtful gesture.
This woman was absolutely adamant about bringing her along for the ride to work, huh?
She hadn't even bothered to ask her last night, and yet, she'd already whipped up her resume?!
A helpless smile played on Cherise's lips as she hung up the phone.
Wedding planning... It was a world she never imagined stepping into in her wildest dreams.
Suddenly, the bathroom door swung open, revealing a man with a captivatingly dark complexion. His piercing gaze met hers as he stepped into the room. "What brings you knocking at my door at such an ungodly hour?"
Cherise's lips tightened into a thin line. "She's aware Lennon's holed up in
Yatesville, yet she's convinced he's there to battle for custody of Alexis... And now she wants to join me on a job hunt in the world of wedding planning."
Damien arched a curious eyebrow. "Wedding planning?"
Cherise nodded with determination. "That's the game plan."
"Not a shabby idea," the man remarked casually as he sauntered toward the dressing room.
As he swung open the wardrobe doors, he pondered aloud, "What's the look for today?"
Cherise pursed her lips thoughtfully before elegantly gliding down from the windowsill. With deliberate steps, she made her way to Damien's side, her eyes skimming over the impeccably arranged suits in the wardrobe. After a moment's contemplation, she settled on a navy-blue checkered shirt and a sleek dark gray
suit.
"You look classy in this outfit," she said with a playful tone. "And it'll keep any women from getting too close to you."
